what do you mean that technically I'm not supposed to use other coupons, are you saying I can't use them in addition to the live discount?

    edit: happy thanksgiving :)

    Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!

Hmmm...maybe an indication that HP is going to come out with a huge discount coupon today or tomorrow, and removed the already great discounted SSD option?? Hmmm?????

The drivers are located at: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/xp/176.28

Did you follow the directions? The exe posted are the default distributed video drivers. You have to download the modified ini file that is located on that page and drop it into the extracted GPU drivers folder on your computer. Once you do that reclick the exe for install and it should install.

I don't remember but I think it was posted on the forum somewhere that it says in the terms and conditions that the additional coupons would void the cashback. The $200 instant rebate is still good though. Just anything additional.

Oh btw, were you also looking at the ACER 8930 when you were trying to decide?. When fully spec'ed out, it has a T9400 CPU, 4GB DDR3 RAM, LCD, and a GeForce 9700M GT. But for some reason the best specs are only available in Australia and New Zealand right now. Those last 3 specs are really the 3 things that have kept me from buying the HDX in the first place. Plus the ACER is seriously real nice too look at. Not as nice as the HDX18, but it's close. It's too bad it's an ACER, but if it was available in the states, and ACER didn't make it impossible to find any info on their computers, I would definitely have a hard time deciding between that and the HDX.

I'm waiting on the Black Friday deals like everyone else. I probably should have pulled the trigger when HP had the 30% off coupon, but now I'm just going to have to wait. As far as I know, this is the best config there is for the ACER.

    http://thepcbusiness.com/Acer_Aspire_AS8930G-944G64Bn_444021.html

But once again, ACER makes it impossible to find info on anything they sell. That doesn't exactly make me want to do business with them any more. Plus, I don't like their keyboards. I actually don't like the Sony AW keyboard either though. But both their screens are obviously better than the HDX as far as I have seen.

Don't get any gravy sauce on your HDX's for those that have them. I'm sure those waiting for them will stuff their face as a temporary way to fullfill yourself.

Here it is: HP 40% off using live.com cashback

Currently, using NORMAL live.com search and links, it is an official 25% off right now (not 5% that it was earlier today).

So I'm curious, one of my co-worker's sons is a student, can I tell him to order and get the 40% with his APP discount? Or do I tell them just to order via the standard site.

For myself I didn't get the cashback on my last order because I used a coupon. But since the APP discount isn't a true coupon, it should work for him correct?

If not, I'll jsut again tell him to order via the non-APP site.

I believe you have to buy from the site that you click-thru to...if you change sites, it's more than likely not valid.

    Hi Guys

    Nice forum

I have a HDX18 on order. Passed on the on the quick doc and media doc as I understood with either docking station I would still need to plug in a power supply and vga is the only video out and the HDX will has an awesome display, probably much better than current monitor. So the short of it is I don't see much advantage to either doc, if my perceptions are close.

Can anyone who bought either doc; is or was it worth it or can you recommend with a few reasons?

so, the 40% off coupon is through Live Cash, doesnt that make it a Microsoft coupon?
If so, are there ANY promotions from HP directly?

No, it's not a Microsoft COUPON, it's a MS click-through promotion. There is no coupon code or number required. You can use the $200 instant rebate from HP, as that is not a coupon code.

Tomorrow may bring a better discount from HP...we have to wait and see!

According to the other thread in the deals subforum the MOST you can get back with the live cashback deal is $200 so the 40% while sounding nice really doesn't save you as much money as a good HP coupon will.

Plus you've got to wait 2 months for the money to clear and be available to get "back" to you. Plus another week after you request that money to be credited back to your account.

Way too much trouble in this case.

That amount isn't true. From what I know $200 is the limit for eBay. Plus, on my last order from HP where my cashback was canceled, it showed almost $400. So I know for a fact $200 is not the limit.

If anyone bothered to read the terms and conditions of the HP/live.com cashback promo (in the link given previously), nowhere does it state a $200 per purchase limit. That limit is specifically stated in the ebay terms and conditions.

The live.com/HP cashback promo only states a $2500 cashback limit per account.

Through my own personal experience and what others have experienced, there is no $200 limit on the HP click-thru live.com cashback.

I guess that is a way to justify not using it, but to me, cash is cash. In 67 days, I'll be a happy camper with cash in my pocket, while others will have an overpriced 2-month old notebook PC.

It's no different than a rebate (actually, it's better, because rebates can stretch out 8-12 weeks or more. )

Depending on when I charge the notebook to my credit card, it can be more than 60 days before I actually pay for it, so I'm certainly more than willing to wait.

Too much trouble? It takes one mouse click to get it, and a couple more to receive it. How is that too much trouble? It takes time, but no trouble.

I think, whether or not HP releases a 40% coupon or not, we'll all be very happy that we put off buying for so long. Until tomorrow that is.

Oh just out of curiosity, for anyone who upgraded parts in their HDX, what parts are upgradeable, and what aren't? And are the 3rd party parts higher quality than HP's?

I have been having some problems with my HDX speakers buzzing at mid frequency at about 50% volume level.
Is this just me? Or should I send it back to have them fix it while it is still under warranty.

    yarseyer...

i was going to try the reverse and direct the "update driver" command to the inf myself, but i have nothing with yellow punctuation that could be the video adapter except for one "unknown device"

    is that it?

and really, i am very appreciative of this turkey day help.

update - success- only recognized after restart :) uh oh.... not so fast

upon restart after seemingly good installation this comes up-

"the currently selected graphics display driver can not be used. It was written for a previous version of windows, and is no longer compatible with this version of windows.
the system has been started using the default vga driver
please contact your hardware manufacturer to get an upgraded driver, blah blah blah."

Yesterday, when you clicked the link I gave above. It stated 12 hours only, 7AM to 7PM PST, and 40% cashback.

Today, the page has changed somewhat and is missing the time and 40%.

    We'll see at 7AM.

Probably not here since you posted in the wrong HDX forum. This forum is for HDX18t owners. There is a different Owners Lounge forum for the HDX(20) Dragon owners. You might actually find the answers to your questions already posted on page 100 of the forum (the FAQ). Look there before asking.
