what do you mean that technically I'm not supposed to use other coupons, are you saying I can't use them in addition to the live discount?
edit: happy thanksgiving![]()

edit - looking at XP is a beautiful thing on this beautiful thing.
-
Well, Ryan is a really nice guy for doinig what he did for you, but I wouldn't exactly give him the stature of "GOD".
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too! -
CK, I hope you're not planning on getting that SSD... cause it's gone; don't worry, it will be back at $950 lol.

XP Problem #1
Video drivers (can't post url yet) from page 163
after extracting and running of setup.exe
"The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit." -
Well, its Thanksgiving and I still can't find any HP deals for tomorrow.
-
-
You, Me, and countless others that have yet to pull the trigger! (although you already have one.)
-
Did you follow the directions? The exe posted are the default distributed video drivers. You have to download the modified ini file that is located on that page and drop it into the extracted GPU drivers folder on your computer. Once you do that reclick the exe for install and it should install. -
@ exe
No I wasn't planning on get th SSD. Don't really need it. -
THANKS YARSEYER.
No i didn't get that from page 163.
you da man!
The modded inf is grayed out? -
Seems that is an old link. -
Oh btw, were you also looking at the ACER 8930 when you were trying to decide?. When fully spec'ed out, it has a T9400 CPU, 4GB DDR3 RAM, LCD, and a GeForce 9700M GT. But for some reason the best specs are only available in Australia and New Zealand right now. Those last 3 specs are really the 3 things that have kept me from buying the HDX in the first place. Plus the ACER is seriously real nice too look at. Not as nice as the HDX18, but it's close. It's too bad it's an ACER, but if it was available in the states, and ACER didn't make it impossible to find any info on their computers, I would definitely have a hard time deciding between that and the HDX. -

But once again, ACER makes it impossible to find info on anything they sell. That doesn't exactly make me want to do business with them any more. Plus, I don't like their keyboards. I actually don't like the Sony AW keyboard either though. But both their screens are obviously better than the HDX as far as I have seen. -
Just checking in to say happy TG everyone!!
Don't get any gravy sauce on your HDX's for those that have them. I'm sure those waiting for them will stuff their face as a temporary way to fullfill yourself. -
40% cash back tomorrow... quads here I come!
-
-
-
I did not see this offer for 40% off tomorrow. Would you mind sending me the link? I would greatly appreciate it and Happy Thanksgiving!
--Rocco-- -
40%...? when i go to HP's discounts page the ONLY thing i see for notebooks, under the thanksgiving sales, is free upgrade to 3gb or RAM and free shipping; where oh where do you see 40%? PLEASE LINK.
-
look in the bargain forum i can't post links yet
it says it's for tomrrow between 7 am and 7 pm -
Currently, using NORMAL live.com search and links, it is an official 25% off right now (not 5% that it was earlier today). -
So, if the 40% off is true, and if current prices hold steady, this can be had for $1660 (after cashback):

So I'm curious, one of my co-worker's sons is a student, can I tell him to order and get the 40% with his APP discount? Or do I tell them just to order via the standard site.
For myself I didn't get the cashback on my last order because I used a coupon. But since the APP discount isn't a true coupon, it should work for him correct?
If not, I'll jsut again tell him to order via the non-APP site. -

Hi Guys
Nice forum
I have a HDX18 on order. Passed on the on the quick doc and media doc as I understood with either docking station I would still need to plug in a power supply and vga is the only video out and the HDX will has an awesome display, probably much better than current monitor. So the short of it is I don't see much advantage to either doc, if my perceptions are close.
Can anyone who bought either doc; is or was it worth it or can you recommend with a few reasons? -
so, the 40% off coupon is through Live Cash, doesnt that make it a Microsoft coupon?
If so, are there ANY promotions from HP directly? -
Tomorrow may bring a better discount from HP...we have to wait and see! -
thats what i was trying to figure out, would there be HP promos/coupons, tomorrow.
-
According to the other thread in the deals subforum the MOST you can get back with the live cashback deal is $200 so the 40% while sounding nice really doesn't save you as much money as a good HP coupon will.
Plus you've got to wait 2 months for the money to clear and be available to get "back" to you. Plus another week after you request that money to be credited back to your account.
Way too much trouble in this case. -
-
Good luck though to those of you who are going to try it out. -
the amount limit varies, i've seen it at different amount variations. It is usually stated.
-
If anyone bothered to read the terms and conditions of the HP/live.com cashback promo (in the link given previously), nowhere does it state a $200 per purchase limit. That limit is specifically stated in the ebay terms and conditions.
The live.com/HP cashback promo only states a $2500 cashback limit per account.
Through my own personal experience and what others have experienced, there is no $200 limit on the HP click-thru live.com cashback. -
It's no different than a rebate (actually, it's better, because rebates can stretch out 8-12 weeks or more. )
Depending on when I charge the notebook to my credit card, it can be more than 60 days before I actually pay for it, so I'm certainly more than willing to wait.
Too much trouble? It takes one mouse click to get it, and a couple more to receive it. How is that too much trouble? It takes time, but no trouble. -
Agreed, but, wouldnt all of our lives be that much easier if HP releases a 40% coupon tomorrow?
-
I think, whether or not HP releases a 40% coupon or not, we'll all be very happy that we put off buying for so long. Until tomorrow that is.
Oh just out of curiosity, for anyone who upgraded parts in their HDX, what parts are upgradeable, and what aren't? And are the 3rd party parts higher quality than HP's? -
Na Yarseyer,
Still "could not locate any drivers compatible"
grrrrr... -
-
I have been having some problems with my HDX speakers buzzing at mid frequency at about 50% volume level.
Is this just me? Or should I send it back to have them fix it while it is still under warranty. -
yarseyer...
i was going to try the reverse and direct the "update driver" command to the inf myself, but i have nothing with yellow punctuation that could be the video adapter except for one "unknown device"
is that it?
and really, i am very appreciative of this turkey day help.
update - success- only recognized after restartuh oh.... not so fast
upon restart after seemingly good installation this comes up-
"the currently selected graphics display driver can not be used. It was written for a previous version of windows, and is no longer compatible with this version of windows.
the system has been started using the default vga driver
please contact your hardware manufacturer to get an upgraded driver, blah blah blah." -
hello I have a HDX 9430EF and I want to install Windows XP but I don't have the drivers... Can anyone help me pls?? please drop me an email at [email protected]
-
Umm am I the only person who sees the %40 gone?
-
-
-
Today, the page has changed somewhat and is missing the time and 40%.
We'll see at 7AM. -
