I tried the official release drivers and my Windows Experience numbers dropped dramatically. I installed these instead and are they are fine.

    A possible Solution

My english isn't perfect but i'll do the try... My laptop is DV6338se with AMD

First of all, like all of you guys I had the same problem with my webcam... I searched over the whole google to find a solution and also I sended an email to HP... but nothing works... and the problem was still unfixed.

Wel...l after that "research" I decided to find a solution by myself so I started to explore the whole da... windows vista (It really sucks  guys) and I did some adjustments:

First. I adjusted the visual effects in "Control Panel-Performance Information and Tools" section, I selected "Slide taskbar buttons & Use visual style windows..." only....

Second. I unistalled all norton and roxio software, In my personal point of view, I prefer Avast antivirus and Ashampoo software... It depends on you...

I only made that little changes to my laptop, and mysteriously my webcam started to record and capture everything!!! everytime!! :) ....

Hopefully this solution will work for the ones that have SE... Give a try and let me know if it works for you...

Hey. My webcam has suddenly stopped working. I get a cmd prompt that opens up when I go to download the HP DV2315NR webcam driver that says

    C:\Users\MICROS~1\AppData\Local\Temp>WoWInst /r "driver\st50220.inf" "USB\VID_0c45&PID_62c0&MI_00" "USB\VID_0c45&PID_62c0" "USB\ROOT_HUB20"

and then another window opens up with the title "SONIX ST50220 11251.0" and 6 boxes, one at the top that says "GO!", and 5 underneath that say ERASE, CHECK, PROG, VERIFY, RESULT. After doing whatever it does, it pops up an error message with the title "csw" and message "Initialize camera failed!"

Any ideas how to fix this?

Who ever cracks this one gets a big wet kiss from my dog......
i did a clean install of Vista, installed all the drivers from the HP site. BUT, this is the big one..... I can't figure out what this device is in my device manager. I would love to know what the driver is. Here are some pics.. Any help is great.

OHH, this is my set up
    HP Pavilion dv6500t
    T7300, 2GB, 8400M GS, Intel 4965AGN, 160GB HD, Fingerprint Reader, Webcam
    LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer

BTW, Everything works great, cam, fingerprint reader. the only thing i have not tested yet is the lightscribe cd thing.
