The model number. Rev. 1 has the model number dm3t-10xx and rev. 2 has dm3t-11xx.
The dm3z's are a little different, since HP added new processors/graphics while removing the dm3t. They go dm3z-10xx, -11xx, and now -20xx, I believe.

    Not 7-8.
More like 5, maybe 6 with settings turned down.

Snow, the problems you describe have nothing to do with your processor. You have a software/OS issue of some sort.

Was there ever a second revision model with the SU7300/SU4100 processor with the switchable graphics? All I'm finding is the SP9300 with switchable graphics.

You know what, I think I am just going to get a second battery... It's not worth the trouble and quite frankly I love this laptop.

Does anyone know where the best place to get a battery is? I am checking out Amazon and there are multiple merchants at all different priceranges. Are some of these used or something? The cheapest I can find is $59.

Also, is there a Battery charging dock so that one battery can be charging the whole time on it so the other battery can be charging while inside the laptop? Thank you.

Ebay is usually good for cheap batteries.

TSE, I'd just buy a battery from HP, not the cheapest, but still, you get a peace of mind buying one directly from the manufacturer. I don't think there are any models with SU7300/SU4100 processor + discrete combo. Not in the US anyways.
I've never done extensive battery life testing with mine, but it should get at the very least 6 hours on power saver + 4500mhd, brightness @ half.

Well as you can see my SU4100 isn't negatively affecting my boot performance.

This is with tweaks. Without tweaks it's around 11-12 seconds. SSD is OCZ Vertex Limited Edition 50GB.

Hey, I'm in Turkey for the rest of the month now, with the DM3. The DM3 here with 2GB ram, SU4100, and a 250GB HDD, goes for about 1700 Turkish Liras, which is about $1000 U.S Dollars.

I got this laptop for a really good price, and when I mean really good, I mean it with free overnight shipping.
Now would it be worth it to sell this laptop for about $700-800US Dollars here a day or two before I leave?
When I get back to the states, I can purchase another DM3 model or maybe the DM4 models. Ahhhh Give me some ideas!!!!!!1

I would sell it, considering you can get double the specs for that price in the dm4t

I paid about $530 incl. shipping for my DM3 SU4100 4GB 500GB 7200rpm when I was in Florida in February.

The same notebook costed about 700 euros in the Netherlands.

The DM3-1044nr is still for sale on Ebay for about $570 now, not very cheap in my opinion.

Price seems so tempting, Phil. The price is 1700 Turkish liras = 852.824121 Euros
and thats about $1101 US Dollars.

If I can sell it for around maybe 1200 Turkish Liras maybe even 1000 Liras, that'd give me $777 from 1200 liras.

If anything I can also get one of those new Toshiba's that I've seen in Bestbuy, and can wait a couple weeks after I come to the states for the Back to school sales.
    What do you guys think?

I'd go with what nikeseven said, if you don't have any problems with buying a dm4t. For the price, you can get a much better spec'd laptop.

You should also consider though that the HP DM3 is more portable and looks better.

Yeah, the DM3 is more portable and I like that it doesn't have a DVD drive, so keeping the weight to a minimum. I'll go to a couple of shops and see what they offer me. Also since I have the American keyboard, I don't know how they are going to use it or maybe not even give me an offer.

Sure DM3 is more powerful than a netbook, but it's old and weak technology compared to DM4t.
DM4 is far more powerful and faster, and can handle a lot more heavier work than DM3 can.

XoticPC has an Asus that I would consider equal to the Dm3t(but it does have the newer Intel i Core's). [No Built in DVD drive/13.3" led/under 4 pounds/switchable graphics] All for $820 USD

    ASUS U35JC-A1 - XOTIC PC

Slightly off topic but Toshiba has a 13.3" R630 weighing 3.3 pounds that I consider a possible replacement for my DM3.

That's it, there we go Phil. Thanks. That's the Toshiba I looked at a shop over here in Turkey and really loved the keyboard and the whole design of the laptop. My minds a little cloudy but I do remember seeing a dvd drive in there as well, the touch pad felt great unlike the DM3.
It's really thin and great looking and it goes for a hefty price out here. It's about 2100 Turkish liras which is about $1300 in dollars.
But I love the DM3 even though the touchpad still erks me even after 4 months of ownership. But I am considering selling this and buying that after I come back to the states. Lets see how much they offer for the DM3 here, mind you it's the U.S keyboard layout, so I wouldn't be surprised if anyone didn't care to buy it because of that.

Edit: I'm not too sure if they have that same model for sale in the U.S.... I'm thinking it's only limited to Europe.

    That R705 is very impressive.
Nice looking, powerful (even more so if you get a cto model from toshiba's site), decent battery life.

    I like that.

    hey...on my dm3 AMD L335 with 3200HD etc etc...

I am running starcraft 2 on it and it handles it quite well with the default graphics settings...no freezing, chopping, graphics are good. Anyone else playing but have better settings for gameplay? Default setting is "low" and i tried turning up quality to average, high and it went to . Maybe im missing driver updates im not sure.

The DM3z isn't a gaming machine by any means, so it sounds like low-medium settings is about right for what the DM3z can handle.

Anyone got a solution for the peeling chrome trim?

I love my DM3, I really do, but the trim is now in a very poor condition (particularly on the right hand-side next to light indicators) and makes the whole thing look cheap and nasty.

i have the HD 3200, is there a way of adding more graphics memory to it or swapping it out for a better card? or is this impossible.

Just trying to get starcraft 2 looking better than it is. Right now its good just on low settings.

How long have you had your laptop?

I was thinking of buying the 1130us because I just found a great deal on it; do you think this is preventable or should I expect this on mine in a couple of months, as well?

I have had it for a 6 months, but it's not about time, it's about my backpack that has a zipper in a very unfortunate place.

Mine looks pretty much the same.

First signs started only a month after purchase. At first I thought I may have just caught it with the power supply or something, but gradually it got a whole lot worse like you see in the photo.

I've looked at the possibility of removing the trims and repainting them, but looking at the disassembly guide it seems that you have to pretty much remove most of the internal parts before you can even get at them.

It's such a shame as it is a beautiful looking laptop otherwise.
