More than the multitouch aspect of it, I feel, the fact that it does not respond nicely when I just slide my finger along it, or having to sometimes swipe multiple times to reach from one point on the screen to the other because the finger kind of gets stuck on the pad is annoying. Even if I disable multitouch, I dont see that still addressing these issues.

Well I have an HDX I am currently using, and I think it has similar issues. It's just inherent in the HP designed laptops, atleast in my opinion.

My dm3z with turion L625 and ati 4330 shipped this morning. Will post battery life and performance numbers after i get it. Hopefully i get it on Friday, having to wait for it to be delivered on Monday would be torture.
-
Good luck with all your systems boys.... would appreciate battery life + temps!

i know i'm way too impatient, but i wanna see how the 9300/105m combo does in terms of temperature, honestly, i dont dont give a damn about the battery life, as long as it lasts at least 2h with web browsing i'm fine, and i bet this one does.. -
How's the skinstyles for the touchpad? oh and what's the dimension of the dm3t dimension?
-
-
I can't wait for dm3t reviews! That's what I'm eyeing and really REALLY can't wait to hear what you guys think. Everyone seems so knowledgable and most of the time, I have no clue when you talk CPUs and names and numbers....so I'm trusting you people......kinda hehe

Some initial impressions
As against the first post in this thread I am getting a windows experience score of 3.5 for my dm3-1030us that I bought from Office Depot.
Also I have been working on it now for more than 3 hours.. I dont fell any heat at all.. I feel both the right and left palm rests are equally warm with only normal temperatures that you see from any laptop. My only problem with this is its touchpad.
-
-
last laptop i got from them didn't give me tracking info for a day or 2 for some reason either, its weird
-
Hey everyone. I love the Dm3-1030US! I admit, the touchpad is not the best (the glossy surface can be sticky at times), but heat seams good, keyboard is great!
I did passmark on my L335 cpu and got a score of 973.2. That seems pretty good.
Can anyone with an SU4100 or an SU7300 please run passmark on it and post the score here?
Thanks. -
Not to answer my own question (and i'd really rather compare another dm3) but on this site the guy shows a CPU benchmark for the SU7300 as 911.
Maybe the Athlon Neo L335 is more powerful after all? -
-
ya that doesn't make any sense, somethings wrong there
-
I always thought it was a given, that the Intel was more powerful. By how much, who knows. Well, we'll see when we all get our dm3ts. Mine has shipped so I'll check when I get it.

Just finished a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium on my new DM3-1030US..... there is an Unknown Device listed in the Device Manager. Everything including WIFI, card driver, webcam, microphone, touchpad, seem to be working just fine. Any idea what that Unknown Device may be? Thanks a lot!

Here you go
As you can see the cache added another 200 to the rating.
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-charts-2006/compare,42.html?prod[195]=on&prod[193]=on
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/cpu-charts-2007/compare,342.html?prod[708]=on&prod[719]=on
http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/.../compare,390.html?prod[1242]=on&prod[1240]=on
So it really depends on why the cpu is bottlenecked. When its hititng main memory alot the higher cache amounts should help. -
Windows Live Messenger keeps opening up everytime I wake up from sleep mode. I disabled it (or so I thought in the Menu) and I also thought I deleted it. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this?
OR, what's useful about Windows Messenger? I'm willing to keep it if it's actually useful.
Thanks. -
Really makes me happy to know the L335 performs as good (or better) than the SU7300. I'm hoping for 5-6 hours battery life (enough for a cross-country trip). I have no need for longer battery life, so why pay the extra $100 for it?
Im very interested in seeing the battery life on the L335/3200HD model. -

I like this laptop, have been looking for a ultraportable with decent battery life. I would like to buy retail or local. Correct me if the following is incorrect but it sounds like these are my options:
1. Office Depot $599.00 AMD 512 cache 4gig mem 320GB HD with bluetooth
2. Walmart $598.00 AMD 512 cache 4gig mem 320GB HD no bluetooth
3. Sam's Club $699.00 Intel with 2mb cache 4 gig mem 500GB HD no bluetooth
4. Best Buy $549.00 AMD 512 cache 3gig mem 320GB HD no bluetooth
I am leaning towards the Walmart option even tho I could have bluetooth and the exact same specs at Office Depot. I dont like the NO RETURN policy on tech that OD has now which is ridiculous. I am not sure if the Sams club model is worth the extra $100. What do you guys think on the above choices. -
May I ask TNTAZMAN what are you doing with it ?
-
I am not sure if this was posted as I dont have time to read all 33 pages, but I have word from an HP sales rep that there is going to be a firmware update that corrects problems with the track pad. I sure hope it fixes the crazy problems I have with it when it wakes up from sleep.

I dont see the instant rebate..just the $50 mail-in, maybe the other one has expired. I will stop by the store and check.

abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
So, judging from what I have seen so far, the word on battery life is,
L335/3200HD - 4 hours
L625/ATI 4330 - 2.5 hours
L625/3200HD - 3.5 hours
SU7300/4500GMA - 8.5 hours
SU7300/nVidia 105M - 5.5 hours
SP9300/nVidia 105M - 3 hours
Right? -
Has anyone talked to HP or FedEx about the lack of shipping information? At this point, I'm wondering if the laptops really shipped yesterday or whether they simply generated the shipping numbers to be used on the labels and that the laptops are shipping sometime tonight (as scheduled). It'd be nice to know one way or the other, since I may have to end up taking some time off work to sign for the delivery.
-
i talked to the internation fedex shipping like 30 minutes ago, one of the people said that it had shipped from china today, the other said that they only had printed a shipping label, so not sure.
-
What's the dimension of dm3t touchpad?
-
So its really up to you. I went to hp.com the $150 plus 5% off and free 3 gig upgrade and 250 gig drive upgrade were really good stuff. for $711 after taxes I got the radeon hd 4330 in mine. -
so guys i am a newbe here
y is the amd base model 100 $ more than the intel model even every site says the amd base model is better than the intel model
and do u think it is worth it f i buy the sp9400/nividia 105 combo which will reach 900 $ when i can buy the dell studio 15 with core i7 and a way better gpu for 100 $
i know its not right to compare those 2 but i am talking about what u get for ur money !! -
nobody has benchmarks for all the models yet, but the intel models are projected to have better battery life based on the tdp. other differences include ddr3 ram in the intel models vs. ddr2 in the amd, and the nvidia option in the intel models vs. ati options with the amd, with different tdps. -
No sites have yet published any comparisons of the AMD Neo X2 L625 vs. the Intel C2D SP9300 or SU7300, so it is unknown at this moment which model is "better". Keep in mind that the dm3 is pretty customizable, and should be tailored to what you'll use it for, as well as the price you're willing to pay.
With that in mind, you should buy whichever laptop that best fits your criteria. Issues such as form factor, aesthetics & design, battery consumption, etc. Larger laptops feature more powerful components at the same or a lower price, but also lack in battery efficiency and weigh more. -
the thing is i want to get the sp9600 /105 m and i am not sure its worth the extra money , what do u think ?? -
-
A clean install would be the first thing I would like to do once I get my new dm3 (waiting anxiously), but still confused how I would go about it. Any help would be much appreciated. -
I just saw this link for the HP 5310m. HP has the max battery life rating for the SP9300 configuration at 6.5 hours, while the SU2300(10watt TDP) at 7 hours. Apparently, the SP9300 is pretty frugal.
If we apply that to the DM3, then the SP9300/4500 should get around ~8 hours... so I am going out on a limb here, but I will say the SP9300/105M will give a solid 6 hours of battery life.
We'll find out shortly enough. My real concern is the heat though... if this powerful sucker can give me 3-4 hours, I'm happy. But man, the heat output is scaring me
I will repeat myself... guys, if you're not going to be gaming, the integrated 4500MHD will do just fine. It handles HD perfectly... -

Interestingly enough, I had called HP to cancel my custom DM3T (SP9300/210M) on Sunday or Monday, yet yesterday morning at the crack of dawn, I got the email saying my notebook was shipped. Like everyone else, FedEx tracking has not been updated. Most likely due to this line from everyone's Shipping Notification email: ** For CTO Notebooks, add a minimum of one shipping day for customs clearance.
So maybe I will be doing a direct comparison after all.
I hope the SP9300 delivers 5+ hours of usable battery life, but I doubt it and with the ASUS UL30VT on the horizon, it is starting to look like a poor choice. -
Bear in mind that the top corners are rounded. -
