Hmm... in that case, I don't know what to say. You should probably call FedEx and ask what the holdup is. Is the estimated delivery date today?
-
-
It is. I might be making that call in a bit.
-
Yeah, from whatever little experience (and lots of online reading) that I've done, FedEx usually ships on time. Does your online status say "On Schedule"? If so, then you should really raise hell over the phone

I'm still waiting. This is torture.

Love the color, its a nice warm shade. A little pink I can see, I like it though
For the touchpad, it is really annoying, idk why moving the mouse causes it to jump here and there and cause me to click on random things, I use mousepads with my thumb resting on the clicker, and if it goes past the drawn line, it causes the mouse to jump, is there a way to make this less sensitive? -
Gotta see the Laker game tonight though so no time to play with it till when I get back lol. Hope all of you that received theirs enjoy it. -
My laptop is not getting delivered today. This morning it said "Estimated Delivery June 17th" but now, nothing shows up there. I'm guessing it will go out tomorrow.
As for the trackpad, I used it at costco and loved it, worked great for me. -

The touchpad seems like a love/hate type of thing. Personally I love the surface they used and find it very responsive.
-
im making backup discs so i havent got to mess w/ it yet...but that HP software that first pops up looks so cheap lol
and ya the touch pad will take some getting used to...i'll tweak the settings once im done w/ the backing up -
edit: fixed
-
got mine....
..its nice .. bit heavy with my 9cell ..mouse pad is ok not great. making recovery discs now.
by the way .. with all due respect... from which angel it looks pink ?? ITS NOT PINK.. -
My touch pad works great! I did have to decrease the number of vertical scroll lines from 3 to 1, but other than that, everything works perfect on it.
Does anyone know what EgisTec software is? Two similar things are showing up in my startup list, and I don't know whether to remove them or not. -
5 discs for recovery .. LOL
-
Got it.
First impressions:
Its VERY Light (compared to my 12 Cell HDX). I thought the 9 cell would add a lot of weight, but I was wrong.
COLOR:
yes it does have a weird tint, it is NOT silver (not 100%).
I wouldn't say pink, but its not pure silver either.
2 minor problems I've noticed:
The Right / Left click button = very stiff.
Screen resolution (a big difference from my current 1080 screen)
Out of curiosity...Does the bottom of anyone's dm4 feel somewhat 'unfinished' (not smooth)
Lakers FTW. -
Decided I should try to call for a refund. No dice. (I should mention that I used the coupon and not Bing.) I hint that I might return the laptop. The agent offers me a free Deskjet F4480 to keep the order. I tell her I already have an all-in-one that I'm happy with, but what I really want is a wireless printer. She then bumps the offer up to a Photosmart C4780. Couldn't really say no to that. So far I'm satisfied with HP, but maybe I should've held out for a Laserjet. . .

I GOT MY DM4T TODAY. YES, I'M PICKY, because I've seen pretty much all the designs available on the market. I also used to sell HP LAPTOP back when DV2000 series came out. I still own a DV2200 CTO.
But I'm not that impressed by the DM4T, here's why.
FIRST, the mouse DOES JUMP AROUND. This is because the entire surface of the mouse pad (touch pad) is sensitized. I think the only fix to this is a driver update to disable the entire area where the buttons are.
BUT HERE'S THE PROBLEM.
The LEFT and RIGHT buttons are based on sensing where your finger is. THERE IS ONLY ONE BUTTON FOR THE ENTIRE PAD. If they desensitized the bottom half, then there would be no way to distinguish between LEFT and RIGHT clicks. (I have yet to find the MIDDLE click).
SECOND, I HAVE TROUBLE WITH THE SOUND CARD.
There's a very subtle but annoying *chirp* (or *bleep*) once in a while and almost always preceeds a normal system sound. This also happens when the sound ISN'T INVOKED. F*******.
THIRD, THE COSMETICS.
Nice design (*claps*) but people at the factory were obviously not attentive to Quality Control (QC). There were FINGERPRINTS on my TOUCH PAD, Scratches on the DISPLAY FRAME, smudges on the LCD SCREEN, and deep scratches on the illuminating HP LOGO.
FOURTH, the DRIVERS ON HP.COM ARE INCOMPLETE! I tried to do a clean install of WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE but several drivers were nowhere to be found. 1) The SYNAPTIC TOUCHPAD, 2) the INTEL HD GRAPHICS/INTEL CHIPSET, 3) WEBCAM (It wasn't recognized by HP MEDIASMART), MORE?
Anyway, I'm calling them right now and asking for an exchange to fix the sound card problem and the cosmetics. I'll also ask them about the drivers. As for the mouse, I'm afraid you'll all have to get used to it.
Oh and yes, the finish has a PINKISH/CHAMPAGNE tint under a certain angle of a special type of fluorescent lighting. E.G.: Not a big deal cuz no-one's gonna notice. -
anyone who has tweaked their touchpad settings and feel that it is "perfect"
can u post what settings u adjusted? im trying to change stuff around but its still buggy feeling -
Playing with mine now, but it's giving me some grief. Biggest annoyance is that the Recovery Manager won't detect my 2nd blank dvd-R for burning... The first one worked just fine, and I tried to continue with 2 separate discs.
And is anyone having trouble with their spacebar? I tend to hit the bottom half and while it always moves down, it sometimes won't register the keypress.
And a random observation is that the AC-plug that goes into the laptop is really long, sticks out sideways. Like you'll need at least 1.5" on extra on the side for the plug if you have a messy desk. -
-
-
-
touch pad is kind of annoying .. any one have any tweak for this ?
-
i restarted and it fixed it for me -
Guess I'll have to purchase some blank dvds, don't think I have any.
And those with driver issues, couldnt you have just backed up that folder on your harddrive first(swsetup or whatever it is)?
I bought a transfer cable off amazon to transfer my massive iTunes library from this destop to my new notebook. Hope that goes well. -
I just looked and saw that bing cashback is back to 10%. Don't know when that happened, but it crushed any ideas I had on returning and reordering to get better specs and save money.

Hi guys!
I was supposed to order the dm4t last week with the 200 dollar coupon.
However, my order was declined cause of some complications with my credit card. It took a week for the money to return to my bank account and now that it's there again, i can make another order. Sadly, the 200 dollar coupon that i found had expired already and i've been searching far and wide for another coupon to use. But alas, it was to no avail.
Right now, what's the best way to order the dm4t? Are there any coupons that i may have missed out? I plan on getting a really good config, but i dont want to spend more than a thousand dollars. Back when i had the coupon, the config i had amounted to less than 900 dollars. But now, it's more or less a thousand and fifty bucks :| -
Does anybody know why the $200 coupon code will not work anymore unless I choose the i-7 processor. I wanted to order a dm4t with a configuration of $811 (after tax + coupon). Right now it just allows me to apply it for the processor and a $1000+ laptop is out of my price range. thanks

I got it on the rebound. FedEx attempted a redelivery at 3:46pm... Score! -
i have this computer for two days now, and...
computer is great, touch-pad is excellent for me, color is beautiful not pink at all, speed is outstanding, sound and graphics are nice. Everything just like i expected.
but.................
very very very big issue that i have and considering to return this computer unless someone tells me that the hit this computer produces is normal and it want get worst with time along with the fan noise. please i would appreciate the response to my concern from someone with better knowledge. -
Hi everyone i just got my laptop yesterday and it's very good except for one thing maybe you guys can give me advice on. I was playing a video game yesterday and i noticed that my temperature on my gpu was averaging 90-95 degrees celsius. I was wondering whether temperature is bad for the laptop and is classified as "over heating" because I dont want my laptop to die because the heat.

How do you get the Quick Boot (Linux Start-up) option when turning the PC on? Does it have to be installed or is it pre-installed? -

Go the "Start", "All Programs", "HP Quickweb", and then the config tool. Under the status tab you can turn it on or off.

I want to make a suggestion for those who find it difficult to work with the default two finger touch scroll mousepad configuration. In my opinion, a lot of people complain about "jumpiness" in the cursor, but this is really caused the occasional random unintentional touch by eg a thumb or misplaced second finger, which then makes the pad believe you are engaging in a two finger swipe scroll.
My suggestion may not work for everyone, but it works extremely well for me, mainly because I don't like to use the two finger touch scroll, to begin with, and much prefer to work with a one finger "edge scroll (vertical as well as horizontal -- you basically, move one finger up or down along the right hand edge of the pad for vertical, and bottom edge, for horizontal)---this is the way I've always set up previous mousepads. At first I didn't realize you can configure the pad this way, but it turns out you can.
To activate this, go into right button Personalize from the desktop, to "change mouse pointers", on the left panel, deselect "enable two finger scrolling" and "enable one-finger scrolling" and "apply". You can play around with sensitivities if you want to.
For me this works perfectly. I read of some who light to keep one thumb on eg the left bottom button; you should have no problem if you use this method.
One other little-noticed feature: if and when you use a mouse (instead of pad); just double tap the little white dot on upper left (northwest) corner of pad, and this will disable the pad, an orange light will come.
Cheers
My real complaint about the DM4 is speaker volume: I have it sitting next to my current HP, and there is no comparison in the output volume ... maybe I'm missing something? Also, following a lot of use, I think the island keys look nice but are not as reponsive as the traditional keyboard. And the power brick is the same size as for my much bigger DV7 and slightly bigger than for my 4 yr old DV1000 (same 14" notebook). Minor gripes. -
wow the ATI runs super hot to the touch with some light gaming, anyone else experience this?
-
-
"The HP Laptop Out-Of-The-Box Guide 2.0 for Windows 7"
should i keep that ?? -
Does it get hot at all when not gaming / doing photoshop or something cpu intensive? Can you use it on your lap plugged in/ on battery? This is important for me.

80C is not too hot for a graphics card and mine does get warm by the fans as well, but that is to be expected.
