It is likely that they will take back the 10% cashback after they realize that you used a coupon.

He didn't use a coupon. The $150 off was included in the price. Instant rebate. The student discount may hurt, but we'll see.

The rest of us should be fine with our instant rebates.

Can't wait for some reviews. Nice to see a company shipping early for a change. Hats off to HP for this whole product roll out. It has been smooth.

I have received a BCB email when I used the educational discount at HP but after a few days they took the BCB away.

My estimated delivery date is June 3rd from Shanghai. :(

It may come in sooner than the estimated delivery date. They shipped out my sleeve and warranty by fed ex too and it came in several days before the estimated date so it's possible we can get our laptops alot sooner.

If it wasn't for Memorial Day we would probably have them sooner but I expect to have it before the 3rd. I have shipped things to China through FedEx before and it usually takes them about 3-6 business days so that would be the 2nd at the latest.

HP is being somewhat quiet about all of their releases. The dm3z and dv6z refreshes just appeared on the site today without any notice.

I had a dv4i shipped just last week, it had no audio so I sent it back immediately and ordered one of these. That one came into the US through Anchorage and actually made it to my house on Maui within 24 hours. It is absolutely amazing how that worked, it must all be sorted as it goes along. It arrived on Maui in the morning and was an afternoon delivery that same day. The package went from Shanghai to AK to Oakland to Honolulu, to Maui to my house. So even though I had normal free delivery I got it within 2 or 2 1/2 days as if it was the speedy costly delivery.

I want this computer to work perfectly when it arrives. I have actually sent back 2 brand new laptops back recently due to out of box failures... An HP rep called me on the issue, I suggested an improved quality control unit at the factory... What we spend here is not peanuts for me its about 1/2 a months income. And it is so disappointing to get something brand new thing that you really want to work and it doesn't. As an optimist I am giving HP a third chance, but this is their last chance.
This message is meant to be positive, please don't seize on the OBF's I mentioned, but the shipping speed, which is good.

Open question: do any of you plan to use this notebook with an external keyboard and monitor? If so, do you have any tips?

I'm debating what to do with mine. My current computer is a desktop, and I have a nice Samsung display for it (I forget what size, but it's widescreen and definitely more than 14") and Logitech wireless mouse/keyboard. I don't want to get rid of them, especially the monitor. I work from home a fair bit, and though the dm4t seems nice enough for that kind of use, I was thinking the external peripherals might make it more comfortable. But I worry about the messiness of cables, etc. that could come with that.

    Any sage advice?

I would say to use the monitor every time you will be sitting at home and at a desk. Makes sense to me. A vga connection cable will work fine, but hdmi might be better if you monitor supports that input.

As for the wireless mouse/keyboard, use them if you don't mind having the extra cables. I plan to use a wireless mouse with mine. I just bought the new logitech anywhere mouse, and the thing is AWESOME! If you pair it with a logitech wireless k340 keyboard, and you're golden. It will only use one dongle or usb connector, so you'll still have plenty of open slots. Granted, this is a lot of money, but if you plan to use it a lot at home or even in hotels and such, this is a nice option. Both are portable and easy to connect/use.

    @ jonthebru
Must be nice when everything has to be shipped to you second day air :) Thanks for the info on how soon you received your laptops.

I am thinking we'll get these by the end of the week, maybe next Tuesday like abaddon says. We shall see. Like I said, a cookie to the person who gets theirs first!

Yes, all of them CTOs, from Shanghai.
Seems like 4 days is the norm for the amount of time it takes from being shipped to its arrival on your doorstep.
Though sometimes, HP ships via the Europe route (Shanghai>Kazakhstan>Paris>US) for some odd reason and it takes a couple days longer longer..
I live in southwest Michigan btw.

It means the package is going to move very quickly once the FedEx office opens in the morning. (I would imagine there are quite a few flights out of China toward the USA filled with stuff everybody buys.) Remember it is Tomorrow in Shanghai, in relation to North America and FedEx will not deliver (but I believe they do move packages) on the weekend. And this Monday is a Holiday in the US.
Good luck to all and may the race begin.

I ordered my HP dm4t via Bing shopping. It showed 10% cash back and routed my IE web page to HP shopping website. I made the purchase and submitted the order w/o applying any coupons. But I have not received email from Bing about 10% cash back. How long it takes to receive the email after the order has been submitted?

If you don't get the email within 2 days just email Bing and they will ask for a screencap of the order page.

Four working days or just 4 days? I know it is still in transit on non-business days but does FedEx deliver on Saturdays?

I actually did get my confirmation email from Bing about 10 minutes after I confirmed the purchase. Bing says to allow 2 days for it to show up as "pending" in the BCB account. But, if you're worried about it, I would just contact Bing directly and ask them if it went through. Probably it will turn out to be unnecessary, but there's no reason not to check it out if you're concerned.

I'm curious how mine will work out as well. It still says "pending" in my account, and that I can claim the cash back in 51 days. But I also got a $70 credit from HP, because I called to cancel my order (to upgrade the graphics card) and decided not to when they offered me the credit. It's not a coupon, but others on this forum have implied it still might impact the BCB... so I'm waiting to see. Obviously it isn't worth losing the 25% BCB for a measly $70 credit, so hopefully it will go through.

If both go through I am going to be mad because I did the same thing, except to change something else, I was offered an $80 credit. That would have pushed my total down to like $600.

Haha... well, sorry to make you mad. We'll see. I'm still a bit befuddled as to why it makes sense for them to do that - especially in my case. I went from trying to pay an extra $100 to upgrade to getting $70 off - a $170 swing for them. They must assume that people who are trying to cancel aren't really going to replace the order? Otherwise it makes no sense at all.

I called them right away, like 30 minutes after placing my order. My understanding is it's only possible to cancel the order before it goes into production - once it goes in production, you have to wait for it to be shipped to you if you want to return it (per the 21-day return policy).

Just got off the phone with a friend who works for FedEx and he tells me that they do deliver to residential addresses on Saturday's so there is hope. I figure it will leave Anchorage later today, travel across the country tomorrow, and get delivered to me on Saturday. I can dream, can't I?

Haha travel across the country in almost two days to deliver on Saturday would be a stretch but Im still gonna hope anyways. It's possible for those on the west coast but I live in mass so my chances are def lower. What I do hope tho is that the package arrives to a facility nearby and I'll just drive up and pick it up myself.
