I ordered on the 19th, but mine didn't ship until today and has not arrived in Anchorage yet.

That's true but the initial flight was just one way. Usually flying across the state for some reason requires unneccessary multiple stops in diff states and once it's in ur state, it may take them a day to drive to the right facility before actually being put on the truck for delivery. Being delivered on Saturday would be incredible but I think teusday is more realistic with the holiday weekend butbi hope I'm wrong and you're right lol

could be tomorrow -
This is some exciting stuff! Mine is in transit from Anchorage as well. Very cool!
I live in Missouri, so we'll see what happens. Not getting my hopes up though. Tuesday is looking more likely each day. I believe in miracles! -
May 27, 2010 10:09 PM Arrived at FedEx location OAKLAND, CA
Great that it's finally in my state. Unfortunately, that's about 400 miles from where i live though...
There were much closer airports/fedex locations they could've taken it to. I guess that kills my chances of getting it tomorrow. -
Mine's in Oakland as well.....and I live in Sacramento.
Hope it departs from Oakland tonight! -
-
I want a hands on review.

Mine went from Anchorage to Tennessee and left there early this morning. It will probably get to Jacksonville within a few hours (it only 10 to get from Anchorage to Memphis and that distance is 5 times the distance from Jacksonville to Memphis). It would not surprise me if it was delivered today.

Arrived at FedEx location in NEWARK, NJ
Wow.. maybe there is a chance we can get these tomorrow... -
Mine is in Tennessee as well, but I live in Texas....

Tennessee, same here. They have regional locations.

7:08 AM - Arrived at FedEX local facility
Edit: 8:16 AM - On FedEx vehicle for delivery
Looks like I will be getting it today. I will post some pictures and possible an unboxing video when I receive and expect some first impressions as well. -
So I'm guessing nobody else's hasn't left Shanghai? My tracking number still hasn't updated since the "Package received after FedEx cutoff" part. I'm really hoping that it just hasn't been scanned/updated for some reason and is actually in transit, but I doubt it.

I'm sitting in my living room there have been two FedEx trucks that drove right past my house in the past few hours. I got places to be today so I it is delivered soon or I'll have to wait until Tuesday.
-
If you're not afraid to have the package sitting at your door for a while, you can always Pre-sign for it. HP has instructions on how, just check the email you got from them when your order shipped and there should be a link.

On FedEx vehicle for delivery WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!@#@#@#
-
Out of curiosity, what did you guys' (those out for delivery) tracking numbers say for estimated delivery date?
-
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
-
-
Hmm, well that gives me some hope as mine is saying the same thing. Perhaps my tracking number will magically update to say it's either on the truck for delivery or at least really close to home (Atlanta).
-
WOOOO! Just got it! I get a cookie now?
-
My order is still in China according to the posting, I consider tracking FedEx shipments to be a hobby, its really cool to be able to do this. I have already printed the delivery form and will have it taped on the door a full day ahead of what I think will be the delivery day because I missed the last one, things start happening very quickly as it gets closer...

I ended up just pre-signing for mine and telling them to leave it around back.

My HP status has just changed to Shipped, and it's estimated to arrive on the 3rd! Hope it comes earlier, I can't waaaaait. The carrying case I ordered arrived yesterday and it just made the wait even more painful haha. -
It is a BEAUTIFUL laptop. The case is metal with etchings, as you can see in pictures online, and the whole look is really streamlined and artistic. I'm using a Macbook pro to post this review right now, and comparing the two colors, there is a clear difference - the dm4 is almost like a warmer tone of silver. It is NOT pink if anyone was worried about that - I would almost describe it as an earth-tone of silver, except that doesn't make any sense. The lines are a bit more organic too - the subtle curves of each corner really give it an organic feel to go with the overall modern aesthetic. Other small touches - the discreet HP logo on the back is nice, and there is a tiiiiny reflective strip around the keyboard area that really gives it a nice framed effect.
The size is very comparable to the Macbook Pro, but it feels significantly easier to lift with one hand. The keyboards are very comparable as well, though I'll have to get used to the different feel of the dm4 keyboard. It is about 100x better than my old Acer. As far as build, it seems very sturdy - I can pull the screen by one corner, and i don't notice any distortion at all. The keyboard itself seems very solid as well, and while it doesn't have the tank-like chassis of a MBP, it is really impressive (and feels lighter!)
As far as setup, it took me 15 minutes from opening to box to being on my desktop, and a couple of minutes of that was spent deciding on a good name for the computer (I went with Mistral). The only snag was on my first reboot (after downloading windows updates), it got stuck at the "Loading Windows" screen for 5 minutes. I manually turned it off, and after going through the recovery process it booted just fine. Now I'm downloading MSE, Firefox etc, and everything is going fine.
Overall, my impression out of the box is very positive. This thing is gorgeous, solid, and light, and everything I've done so far has been very zippy. I'll be using it today while I continue to study for boards, so I'll post another update later on. -
Just curious -- what size Macbook Pro are you referring to? 13" or 15"?
-
-
-
Well, aren't the specs on the dm4 better than the Macbook Pro? I would expect it to outperform the Macbook in everything but battery life, haha.
-
The specs of the dm4 are better than the 13" MBP, yes. Not sure about the 15 and 17" options though as they have Core i7 processors as an option and I think the graphics card might be better than the dm4.
-
And one additional comment. I don't know why laptopmag was so critical of the touchpad. It's not as good as a Macbook, true, but it's perfectly usable. I've been doing 2-finger scrolling and zooming and it seems to be fine. Not perfect, but definitely not as bad as I was fearing after reading the review. Maybe the author of the review just has heavy fingers? -
My DM3 has a very sub-standard display. Definitely bright enough, but very washed out with terrible viewing angles. -
Well, I wouldn't say it's a small premium for the lower-end 13" Macbook Pro. It'll probably be about $300 at least.
-
-
Just got home from work (got out early today) and i missed my delivery by 30 min.... what luck, i can still pick it up later on tonight , although they are going to try and resend the truck over here if its near by... doubtful, but worth a shot.
-
mannnn....mine has been on the truck out for delivery for over 4 hours now, and it originated less than 15 min away....i hate waiting.
