Well, first off you have a dv2000z(AMD) based notebook, not a dv2000t(Intel). So, this guide isnt even applicable to yo. But the good news is that it is much easier to get everything working with XP on your system than the Intel versions. Basically, you should find all the necessary drivers on HP download site under the dv2000z. Link

For the audio/modem, before installing the drivers you will need to install the Microsoft UAA HD audio bus drivers. Only then will the audio/modem drivers recognise th device and install on the system. The quicklaunch buttons are also available on HP's website. Try to use ver 6.40 or above since older versions had security bugs.

Miner I've installed everything but the audio/modem drivers, I've download the drivers on the link you posted and cannot get the "Conexant High Definition Audio Driver (for AMD)" for XP to work?
I downloaded the Microsoft UAA HD audio drivers first but still no go.

I'm getting an Error message that says "Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver"

Thank you for your help by the way.

Hmm...looks like you might have a newer revision of the Conexant hardware(aka Venice chipset). Try Windows Update, if that doesnt find any drivers then you might have to edit the setup inf using the hardware ID's for the audio, so that the setup can recognise the device. There were some threads discussing this issue, search through the forum for 'Conexant Venice' or similar keywords. Some people were able to setup audio using the audio drivers for other devices like the dv9000/dv6000, they used the Vencie hardware before the dv2000 series and might have the necessary updates to install on your system.

Yeah Miner I believe your correct. Microsoft update didn't recognize anything that needs to be updated.
I did come across this thread http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=113232 , if that's the thread your referring too. I sent JadedRaverLA a message to see if by anychance he/she would still have the driver that Fredshu used. I believe I've got the same problem he has.

    Hello,

I've purchased an HP laptop (dv2715nr) with Windows Vista about three months ago and would like to format it and install Windows XP. I read a lot of online guides that refer to problems finding the proper drivers for Windows XP.

    But I have a different problem -
I've tried to install Windows XP Pro SP2(legal copy). I've formatted the entire HD and set it to NTFS. Right after the setup utility copies the installation files to the HD and the setup reboots, the computer can't boot from HD and the setup cannot be completed.
Since the setup CD is still in the drive the setup utillty loads again. If I remove the CD from the drive, when the setup needs to load and start the actual installation, the screen blinks and the computer reboots.

To sum things up - I am able to format the HD using the setup utility, the setup utility copies the installation files to the HD but the setup cannot be completed and i cannot even get the the stage where i need the set the drivers...
I've installed Windows XP dozens of times so I'm guessing this has something to do with the hardware. There is no SATA option on the BIOS, b.t.w.

My laptop's spec is the following:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01296370&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3646852&rule=8034&lang=en

Any help would be greatly appriciated.
    Thank you.

Please igone my last post. After completly deleting all the partitions on the HD and trying to install Windows XP again, it worked and entered the setup phase.

Wish me luck with all the drivers :)

I would adive you to check out this thread( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=200763) rather than the dv2000t guide since you have a newer dv2500(or above) model and share some of the same hardware as the dv65xx/dv95xx(AMD) series. That should get you started on drivers and how to istall them on your system.
