I have the 6770M as well, and I also noticed that. I have only experienced it in the opening of the Crysis demo, not while watching any movies, not even on BD. I wrote it off to not having a setting set right for when I was playing the game. I have no clue about that though.

If I were to get the dv6tqe with the 1080p screen, would I be able to set it to 1600x900 if the 1080p is too hard on the eyes? I would still use the 1080p for gaming though. Also, for anyone who has the 1080p screen, how is it for normal use? Is the ppi too high or is it ok?

The 1080p screen is first being delivered today, so we're all waiting with baited breath to hear from the first few who got it. -

You could also use DPI scaling, a feature in Windows that increases the size of UI elements and text, then in Web browsers you can use zoom plugins.
Odds are you may not even need to. -
I'm coming from a 12inch netbook @ 1366x768, which was fine for me. I'm guessing 1080p won't be THAT much of a difference once tweaking the DPI scaling.

My dv6tqe is saying I have 2.5 hours at 100% battery...quite a bit short of the expected 5.5. My brightness is almost all the way down and everything.

Guys I might have a problem... GPU-Z is showing that my Radeon 6770m has a default clock memory speed of 216mhz I noticed shamrocks was 81mhz and this one in the link shows a different value is this normal? link: techPowerUp GPU-Z Validation 5r6m

So I received my dv7tqe with the 1080P display, which is matte. I've not even turned it on. I ordered it in the brown, but it came silver. It looks real sharp to me. What information would be desired from the board to determine the screen mfg, and other details? I will also post pics, as desired. I intend to burn the recovery discs, then do the minimal reinstall.

Can anybody help I'm freaking out....

Also you can never get what the manufacturer claims to be max battery life, unless you turn down your brightness to zero, turn off wireless and leave your lappy in a refrigerator so the fans never turn on. *
*Don't actually try this
That said it sounds like your battery life is short, but it might be an issue with windows reading your estimated battery life. Tweak the power settings, see if anything changes, make sure your ATI card isn't running, and try some actual time tests? I don't have my dv6tqe yet and I know I will probably freak out about a few things, but just remember you have 21 days to call HP and send it back if there is an issue.
also download 3dmark06 and run the test, if your numbers are really low, you might have an issue?
I'm not a pro, just thinking off the top of my head, if I give incorrect info just slap me. -

Are you sure you got the DV7t Quad and not a DV6?
*update* - Just got off the phone with Raashad in customer service and he swears these DV7t Quads should not be shipping in a steel gray color, that was only for the old DV7t from Jan. Something doesn't smell right in Denmark. I better have Umber goodness when I open my boxes. -

Intel® Core? i7-2630QM Processor (6M Cache, 2.00 GHz)with SPEC Code(s)SR02Y
1/4th of the way down:
However, the i5 used in the review that was posted is also only 1066/1333 rated. In order to take advantage of higher speed memory the bios will have to support it
That said though, someone said they purchased the HyperX memory for this laptop, so we'll see how it works out. -
In the beginning the drive is very loud, doing constant seeks, writes etc. That calmed down quite a bit after a few days. It is still noisier than my original 1 TB 5400 drive when it does some reads/writes, but nowhere as noisy as the first day. So it is actually doing some sort of learning. -
IF after 5 minutes of web surfing it still gives you a low estimate like the one you report then you may need to return the machine for a replacement.

I'm only getting 2.5 hours on the normal battery either. I'm thinking there are settings I haven't changed.

Here are some pictures. I see that the Order Status thread has good ones showing screen detail. These are more general. If others are desired, let me know. Please pardon the quality, these are taken with my 5mpixel camera phone, HD2 with Gingerbread.

What do ya know, a dv7 with silver... That wasnt even an option... Are you sure you got what you ordered? did you check all of the specs/components?
-
All equipment looks right to me in Device Manager.

Thanks so much for the pics MrFoo, definitely like the silver look.
Just repped you.
I wanted to ask you how the silver looked in a dark room versus a light room? Any change in color similar to what was seen with the umber changing from black to brown? -
So I'm looking around for the HP maintenance and service guide for our revision of the dv7tqe and it seems like HP has removed it from where all the links were pointing to.
Did anyone save it? I know I should have, but like an idiot, I didnt.
I believe the filename was: c02718431.pdf
The original link was:

But no longer works. -

The machine looks no different in light or dark. The pics were with flash on. The silver doesn't go to the 'champagne' look of earlier models in variable lighting. I really liked that look and considered an earlier DV7T when I still had my DV8T. I was able to hold out until this one, and I think it was a good idea. It is very attractive with the semi-monolithic look. It is worlds better than the shiny plastic and glossy screen of the DV8T. The only shiny is the bezel. My work laptop is a 2nd Gen i5 Dell Latitude and there is not a speck of shiny plastic on it. No fingerprint magnets here.

Anyone know if the DV6T Quads being shipped are the 6000's or the 6100's? I only ask because I'm trying to find the manual and drivers on the HP website. I assume it's the 6000, linked here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/pfinder?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&tool=&query=Pavilion+dv6t+Quad+Edition, since it has the AMD drivers listed and the 6100 doesn't.

Ex: My P/N is LM720AV which is the dv6tqe-61000 -
Here's a list of my initial impressions for those waiting:
The 1080p screen is wonderful, and well worth the upgrade! It has some of the best viewing angles I've ever seen, and is very bright, sharp, and uniform. The anti-glare is truly matte, and not just an overlay filter. It works very well. I plan to calibrate and test color accuracy this weekend, but will not be surprised to see it meet or exceed 95%. I attached some quick pics on the order status thread.
The BD Burner is the LG BT10N 6x writer, which was a pleasant surprise, since I expected 4x. It's as loud as you've come to expect from fast optical drives when they initially spin-up, but quickly settles in to a medium hum. I've heard both louder and quieter, so no surprises here.
Wireless card is the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000 and gets very good reception and throughput from my DLink DIR-815 router. Appears to connect almost immediately on boot up.
8gb ram is Crucial DDR3-1333 - Not much to say other than brand name, quality, and 1333mhz
Hard Drive is the Samsung Spinpoint MP4 640GB HM640JJ (7200rpm) and is surprisingly quiet for the speed.
The speakers were also a pleasant surprise. I didn't have high expectations, and for some reason they sound even better now after restoring to the Minimal System Image. They don't have a ton of bass, which is the norm out of smallish laptop speakers, but the clarity and volume are above average.
The keyboard has a great feel to it, with little to no flex. If it only had a backlight, it would be perfect!
The trackpad is more responsive than most that I've used. 2 finger scrolling works as advertised, and I really like the backlit edging.
Size/Weight/Fit & Finish - The DV7T isn't a small laptop, but it's surprisingly portable for it's size and weight. It's much lighter than most 17's and it's also less bulky. Even with the 9 cell battery attached, I can easily pick it up and carry it around with one hand. I've seen mixed results regarding build quality of some HPs, so I was skeptical, but I haven't been able to find a single bulge, gap or flaw of any kind worth noting. The silver finish looks wonderful, and other than the glossy screen surround, no worries regarding fingerprints. The overall feel is very rugged with the metal surfaces, and the hinges have no flex. Opening can be accomplished one handed with a nice positive feel. Venting and temperatures with the 9 cell are great, although I haven't done any serious testing at this point.
I haven't had much opportunity to use the fingerprint reader at this point, but I did want to ask, is it possible to also use it for Windows logon?
The only other thing worthy of mention is that the MSI restore was very much worthwhile. It gets rid of everything you don't want or need and keeps everything you do. Lean, mean and ready to go in half the time of manual bloatware removal or a fresh Win7 install. Well done HP!
