Well its pretty good, I would even venture to say that it belongs with the first class graphic cards. It can def play demanding games from med to high.

This is TRUE and most likely the what they are doing. I am also reasonably sure Optical drives operate at far less than 3 Gb/s bandwidth ... at least I am not aware of any.

I'm betting Lucky's Windows Experience Index is about a 5.9, since it is determined by the lowest subscore. In general, a non SSD harddrive peaks at 5.9

At native res on the DV6? Definitely, and on med-higher details.

DV7 might struggle a bit more at 1600x900, but should run fine at medium'ish.

    3DMark Vantage DV6/6770M 725/800 (stock) :D

The noise while playing games? It is not quiet. The fan has a bit of whine. I am sure the laptop speakers could easily produce sound to blend it out, of you can of course use some headphones.

My original dv6t-4000 had the fan set to always on in the BIOS. I had to change it so that it was dynamic and it was night and day difference. If the fan comes on and stays on when you turn the laptop on you should boot into the BIOS and change that.

Sounds like a good machine. The 6770 seems to be a sleeper that everyone underestimated, it looks like we have a XPS killer on our hands.

Good to hear. I originally ordered the XPS17. Within 3 days, I checked back in, and the order was canceled. No notice. No phone call. No e-mail. No nothing. I had to find out on my own. Not happy about that, the HP coupon came along, and for $200 more, I am getting the SSD with it, as opposed to my opting not to get the SSD with Dell's because there, it would have cost me $600 more.

XPS 17, no SSD. $1,150 (for SSD, add $600 more)
    HP w/SSD. $1,350.

How well does the 6770 overclock?

This is a little off-track, but the HP warranty that comes with the laptop is a one year correct? Would anyone consider a 3-year from Squaretrade?

I would say the real limiting factor would be the cooling system. If you really want to OC then you should probably be repasting the GPU and CPU. What we really need is to get somebody to tell us what temps they are getting under load with something like furmark.

Called to replace my 5th Gen. Told me I had to order online because I already had it replaced once. Ordered online. Submitted, confirmation comes back with the wrong hard drive configuration...great. HP tells me that I will have to wait until the laptop ships, then return...wth? Had to order AGAIN...hopefully they cancel the wrong order...seriously HP sucks.

Ordered dv7tqe: Build date April 17th

Antonpug, you should've recorded the phone conversation where the HP sales rep tells you they have no idea which chipset is in the laptops. It would've been interesting to hear I guess.

I went with a 3 year ADH warranty with SquareTrade. I'm starting dental school this fall so the dv6tqe will be getting plenty of use.

So my notebook arrived in AK yesterday and was placed on a clearance delay. No change today and HP sent me an e-mail earlier today regarding the situation - stating that they are aware and they're doing their best to get it cleared.

    If mine says:

    Mar 30, 2011 2:50 PM
    In transit
    ANCHORAGE, AK
    Package available for clearance

Does that mean it stuck in customs? Normal or what?

    Here's my recent history:

    Mar 29, 2011 6:46 PM
    Clearance delay
    ANCHORAGE, AK
    Mar 29, 2011 2:01 PM
    In transit
    ANCHORAGE, AK
    Package available for clearance
    Mar 29, 2011 8:41 AM
    Arrived at FedEx location
    ANCHORAGE, AK

From the research I gathered with previous cases, it seems like the clearance issue is per shipment so your shipment may go through without a hitch. Previous cases indicated it was HP not providing the proper paperwork for the units. The exact situation here is unknown.

So uh, the DV6 has one HDD and one Optical Disk Drive. These two things aren't using the affected port right, assuming the ODD isn't blu ray. So Even if our DV6 comes with the B2, should we DV6 buyers worry?

Can someone tell me if I ordered a dv6 with a blu-ray player, and i happen to be lucky enough to get the b2 chipset, will I run into problems? i do not plan on ever adding another drive, the 750gb hdd is plenty for what I need it, but i do plan on using my blu-ray
