Ah, ok, thanks for the info, but as I stated I'm in Norway, and I can't ship here from the US store, it only ships to the US. The Norwegian HP site doesn't have an online shop, they only show you their retailers.

Hello, new user here, I seem to have problems using sketchpad.
When I tried running it it seems so sluggish, btw my my model is Hp Dv6 6001tx. -
Could anyone please address either of these two bullet points? I'm eager to buy the dv6tqe
-
Planning on ordering my dv6t SE or QE soon now that I'm back from a trip. However I'm looking at HP's website right now and it shows this for graphics card....
1GB Discrete GDDR5 Graphics AMD Radeon(TM) [HDMI, VGA]
Which model AMD card is it again? -
Just bought a used DV7-6178US.
Unfortunately, it comes with the lesser 6490M GPU. Ran a forum search for overclock 6490M and got no results.
Has anyone overclocked the 6490M GPU with stable results? If so, how?
Thanks! -

I'll keep you posted... -

If you order a dv6/dv7 online, these are the WiFi cards HP is installing:
Realtek RTL8188CE 1T1R Single Band 802.11 b/g/n (no Bluetooth)
and you get this one if you choose the upgrade with Bluetooth (+$15)
Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030. Combo dual-stream (1x2), single-band (2.4 GHz), 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth adapter.
I'm looking to get this one but need a "no white list" BIOS mod to install it.
Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230 is a dual-stream (2x2), dual-band (2.4 GHz /5.0 GHz), 802.11a/g/n Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth. Also is WiDi and Intel MyWiFi compatible.
*EDIT* Doesn't look good for finding a "modded" BIOS to replace the stock Insyde F.12 in my dv7tqe. Camiloml over at mod-bios says it isn't possible to remove the "white list" from this BIOS at the moment. -
Quote from Camiloml: "It's not possible because there's no original bios updater to mod." -
-
Somehow, I'll get an original F.12 BIOS. -
Hi all,
I was wondering for those of you that have put an SSD in your DV6T and kept your HDD as well,
what SATA caddy did you use?
and
What did you do with your bluray drive? Are there any cd/dvd drive enclosures out there that work perfectly with the bluray drive that comes with the DV6T?
The bluray drive on these has a bit of a unique shape because the front cover of the drive curves under the laptop somewhat so I'm concerned about things fitting properly.
Thanks! -
There are some nice coupons out there but for some unknown reason HP has decided no free regular shipping at this point in time which is really a bummer....
-
free shipping was removed due to liberal return policy abuses... shipping is non-refundable
-
-
Which is it?
-
-
BEFORE (or at least for quite some time) their has been a ZERO charge for the regular 7-10 shipping when purchasing most HP laptops.
Yet today I went to go configure the dv6t QE and it was charging for the regular shipping. Which is why I asked my question.
You provided your answer so I was just wondering where you were getting your info from and if it was valid.
Lastly IF it is the case that they are charging shipping because of increased returns does that mean that when someone returns their laptop that they will not refund the shipping costs? -
-
For those of you wondering about the 2GB video card, I just checked again and it is definitely the Radeon HD 7690M XT. I know what they are telling you and I saw they updated the website config, but that's what I got.
I ordered on 12/26/11 and received my dv7tqe on 01/04/12. My order said my build date was 01/11/12 but obviously not a firm date. -
-
-
Bummer. I was ready to pull the trigger for one with the 7690m XT, but if that's not the case, then no deal for me. Wish the wifi options were greater too.
-
Whoa! The Envy 17 only gets the 1GB 7690m, no XT either? So why bother with the Envy? Looks like the dv7t is cheaper and better somewhat.
It's the same 1080p screens, no? -
-
again, for comparison in case you missed it the first time. My wife's Dell "glossy" 17"

thank you -

Guess i'll wait until tonight and probably pull the trigger
How is the heat with this laptop? my old dv9000 gets hot as an oven and the fan noise is louder than a 747 jet, did they fix the fan issue in this?
thanks a lot for the help -
I'm looking at the exact same config except I kept the default Radeon 7470m.....is there a noticeable difference between it and the 7690m?
EDIT: Regarding what's listed on HP's website and the other thread regarding the graphics card confusion.....should I just assume that whatever is listed on HP's website is exactly what I'll be getting in the laptop? -

It seems like HP finally decided to tell the consumer exactly what components they are ordering in their $1,000+ laptops! -
Gotcha.....I opened another thread regarding the 2 options I'm looking at but after doing a quick google search to compare the 2 processors I'm leaning towards getting the Select Edition just cuz the i5 will run cooler and provide longer battery life.
However now I'm stuck debating whether to get the
i5-2430M
OR
i5-2520M
Is 0.1GHz difference really gonna matter? I suspect not.... -

Also, I would personally go for the better graphics card, because that is something that can't be upgraded down the road. I would forgoe other things like SSD drives now if money is a concern, because that can always be added later, while the graphics card can not.
The difference between the 1GB card and the 2GB card is pretty big as far as performance. -
This is my reply to another post, in regards to getting credited for new coupon code. So if you purchased the dv6, dv7, & Envy with a coupon they will credit you the difference if you give them the new coupon code 33% = NBJ7558, as long as you are still within the 21-days or receiving the laptop. :
I did exactly what you suggested. I called HP Resolution Team, forget about using the online chat to get credited. Here is the number: 1-888-227-8451
Since my dv7tqe is still in production they will process the credit when it ships. And my wifes Envy 17 has already shipped so they processed it right away.
So on the dv7tqe = savings of $51.00
Wifes Envy 17 = savings of $28.00
Pretty cool. Thanks again to Biys75 -

Thanks again for this tip. I think I can rep you, but I don't think it will do anything!
Somebody please rep this man for me just in case, lol. -
so if i buy it now using the 33% off and a better coupon becomes available within 21 days, i can call them and get credited/refunded the difference?
-
would love to save some $$$ off my order

Put my order in. I went your advice and kept the i5-2430m and the 2GB graphics card. Plus the 1080p display.

Oh snap! 33% coupon is back? Decisions, decisions.
I do prefer the Matte on the dv7q.... hmmm.... -

I've been following this ginormous thread for a long time. I don't remember a couple of things so if you guys can point me in the right direction or answer these question, I'd appreciate it. (I searched but it's hard to find latest info).
I'm looking to buy the dv7tq with the 7690m, 1080p, Bluray, and 750GB HDD. I want to put in my SSD and make it my primary Win 7 drive while the other HDD is secondary for storage.
1)Do I need a special HD caddy?
2)Can I put the SSD in the second bay and still keep it as primary or should I put it in the spot where the HDD is and move the HDD into the second bay?
3) Since there's no Windows disk, How do I install/copy Win 7 into the new SSD to make it my primary? (I've installed windows many times before and I have experience. Just need to know how it's done when there's no disk, like this situation.) I'm assuming the HP system restore would offer option for recovering to new drive?
Thanks in advance. -
2. Just put the SSD in the primary bay and your HDD in the 2nd bay. Take four screws out of the 2nd bay, attach your SSD. Take four screws out of the 1st bay, detach cable. Swap places and attach cables and replace screws.
3. Most SSDs come with some type of cloning software. clone your HDD to your SSD, then reformat your HDD. Done!
I may have left something out, but that's basically it. -
Thanks OhioLefty.
Does that longer cable come with the laptop?
My Intel G2 160GB didn't come with any cloning software.
