Allright, I just tried "run as admin" for CCC and it still doesn't work. So, you just need to be logged in as admin in order to make the switch.

I dont know if anyone have brought this up, but the touchpad lags when you use the keyboard. I dont know if it's unique, but try to hold a key and then just draw circles with the trackpad or something. My arrow gets stuck.

It's really annoying. Soo... anyone who have a fix for this?

I don't think this would affect people unless they try trackpad gaming, which is a horrible, horrible idea.

This could be fixed with a future driver update, if HP decides that it's a significant enough of a problem.

Final update. The white light around the touch pad can be turned on/off by holding the fn key and tapping the space bar.

Somewhere buried deep in this thread someone mentioned downloading drivers for the touchpad directly from synaptic, and that they worked much better. Might be worth a search through the thread. One of the things it supposidly improved, IIRC was multi touch.

In all honesty, doing a search on the Synaptic site yourself would be much easier task than sifting through such a massive thread. Best of luck!

Meh, I played through Portal in 5 hours using the trackpad of my old computer. But that one had a nice glide... On this my finger tend to get stuck... feels sticky. I probably have to buy a mouse, feels stupid since I cant even play minecraft on this computer now.

    You sir, are great.

Good to hear your problem is fixed, the worst part about this is you were debating sending it back, and i highly doubt one of HP's valued CSR's would have given you the advice on the fn key and space bar. Glad to hear all is good though.

Seems like the solution is to change your account to Administrator status. I can think of 4 ways to do so:

    1) Clean install of Windows. The account you create should be Administrator status.
    2) Rename the Administrator account, and use that one.
    3) Log into the Administrator Account and change your account to Administrator Status
    4) Just change your account to Administrator Status.

    Perhaps this will work:

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that somewhere in the mouse section of the control panel, there's an option to disable the touchpad while typing. What this does is: as soon as you start typing, it will disable the trackpad, and wait a specified period of time after the last key is pressed till it turns it back on. Try disabling that function and try again.

It was like that everywhere, but just now I found a fix for it.

So, if you cant use the touchpad and the keyboard at the same time:
Properties for mouse -> Device settings -> Settings -> PalmCheck-improved ACM -> Settings (cogs)
Make sure the PalmCheck slider is OFF.

I think that I'm running into lots of barriers with having a non-admin account setup on the machine. I will have to likely enable admin for my user account.

So, I benchmarked the video processing on the DV6 using a 65 mb video file in Cyberlink Power Director 9, that is optimized for Sandy Bridge. The encode time was pretty impressive.

The DV6 encoded a 65 MB file as follows:

    IGP 3000 - :55 seconds
    6770 - :56 seconds
    Core2Quad desktop - 1:25

I was getting up to 100% processor utilization during the output. The only problem I have is that I don't know if PowerDirector was actually using the 6770, even though it was setup as the dedicated GPU at the time. PD9 supposedly automatically detects for the presence of IGP 3000. Is there a way to lockout IGP 3000 to make sure?

the system board is capable of "hosting" a backlit keyboard - the previous version of dv6, the 3000-4000 version both have backlit keyboard options. the problem is to find a backlit keyboard that is actually compatible with it. the keyboard from the previous version should work, but it doesn't physically fit into the new slot as there is an numeric keypad addition.

I think the best option right now is the ENVY 17 replacement keyboard with slightly modded tabs. But, now I'm being rather a hypocrite, after getting mad at the people discussing order status in this thread. We should confine this discussion to the modding thread.

Alright, there's something really wrong with how the machine/Win7 is handling this ability to switch between GPUs.

Setup: Primary account (Admin), Secondary account (User only)
Result: CCC doesn't work, and error messages continue to pop up

I switched the secondary account to admin, and it still doesn't allow you to switch between GPUs. Here's the really weird thing. When you have both accounts active, you can have the primary account running on the 6770 and the user account defaults to the IGP3000 when you switch over.

The real benefit is so we don't have to suffer through what he suffered, if we ever accidentally turn it off.

How does one upgrade the hard drive in the dv6t? Since there is no external esata connection would you use the USB 3 connection. Is it fast enough? If you have a 500 gb and you want to transfer everything to a 640 gb, how is it done?
    Thanks,

Trial and error. I called HP customer support, but, according to them, there is no way to turn the light on and off.

So, I held down the fn key and just started hitting keys. I wish I had started at the bottom of the keyboard instead of the top. :)

    Oh, btw, I'm a she...not a he.

Awesome find about disabling the trackpad light. I checked all the manuals to see if it was documented and it was not. I did find a couple other hotkeys that were documented...

fn+esc = display bios and system information
    fn+b = enable/disable Beats/Bass Audio
    fn+f3 = search box
and of course ....fn+space = enable/disable trackpad led

Go to the TouchPad Propeties then go into PalmCheck-Enhanced ACM and turn the PalmCheck slider to off. This should get rid of the lag.

Anyone know how to switch the audio from the monitor to the notebook speakers when using HDMI? What about playing the audio from both the monitor and notebook speakers at the same time?

Well, I'm currently using dv6tqe, and I saw F5 button doesn't have any function! And the sleep mode is no longer existed on the keyboard...why doesn't HP put sleep mode on F5 function! Weird.

And anyone knows how to adjust the Beats Audio Equalizer??? The sound seemed not really good when I set default...
