Do you loose your warranty by formating and installing a fresh copy of vista or downgrading to XP (if possible)??
-
I've never installed an operating system any other way besides through a CD/ DVD....I prefer to just re-partition, format completely, and start anew -
-
Sorry for the Double post..
Does this one comes with dual hard bays like the Dv7(s) ? -
NO. It has only one Harddrive bay as like the Dv4 and Dv5. The media slot is modular so you can remove the optical drive and place a second hard drive drive there.
-
Is it easy to remove the intel and windows vista stickers from this laptop???
-
-
those Round thinks in the design, it kinda looks pretty girly on the pictures, what about irl?
-
I like the bubble paint job, besides after a few days of owning it you forget they are even there. I see Dell has upgraded there studio line with LED displays standard and ATI HD 4570 GPUs as options worth checking out. The slot load on the dell (ala PS3) is a nice touch. I still prefer the overall design of the HP's though - cant have it all.
-
-
Those bobbles yes..
-
More important than the bubbles is the new espresso black color compared to the original silver with black letters on the keyboard DV series. The espresso black color with white lettering makes the keys much easier to read in low light (light from the display is sufficient) while the older silver color with black letter is difficult to see the keys in low light. Kudos to HP for quickly changing this design flaw to an otherwise beautiful lappy. Anyone with the white Dv6t - how easy are the keys to read?
-
I got a dv6t a few days ago (its the one im returning, I already re-ordered using the coupon) I played around with it for a bit and love it.
perfect size, and with the Pseries proc, 1gb radeon 4650, and 4gig ram I think this will be perfect for me
I like the keyboard, the screen is sweet, everything is as should be -
-
I'm looking to get the dv6t right now. From what I've read, it seems if you watch a Blu-Ray movie on it you won't get a full 1080p resolution. You'll only get a 720p. It seems kinda pointless to upgrade to the Blu-Ray player option (which is almost a deal breaker for me right now). For those of you that have one with the Blu-Ray option, how is it? Can you swap the screen out after you buy it?
-
If blue ray is important to you then check out the HDX 16" and 18" more$$ but has a higher res screen. I agree Blue ray on the DV series is a waste. Unless you're gonna play via HDMI on your 1080P big screen TV. The hook up is simple the display even with my DV6t look excellent better than the lappy screen.
-
I would get the HDX16 but I dont have the extra money
-
Hi! We are collecting benchmarks of laptop graphics cards, and it would be great to have the Mobility 4530 ones to compare. Does anybody have the dv6t with this card? Would you run the benchmarks to compare against the other cards?
-
How do I run benchmark ?
-
Does anyone here happen to know if HP will be offering the dv6t with a
1080p screen resolution anytime in the near future? -
Thanks for your interest! -

If i you buy a notebook from hp (usually around 10 days to have it in your desk) and this sleeve that ships on same day...
http://www.shopping.hp.com/product/computer/categories/carrying_cases/1/accessories/NU561AA%23ABA
Do they send the sleeve first and 10 days later your laptop or do they send it all together?
I mean, is there a way to have it all shipped on same day without having to call hp? (I live abroad)
ps. stupid question but i really need to know.thanks! -
HDX16 on sale now $969

For those with a DV6t experiencing the random cracking popping sounds here was is my solution. Go to your IDT audio window and to preferences then general and uncheck the 2 enable external power option. DONE. n more popping. This works so far and if this is the real issue I'm disappointed in HP not being able to resolve this with a patch. Now my lappy is perfect.
Anyone with an HDX care to lets us now why they choose that over the DV6t with the ATI HD 1 GB 4650. -
Although, as we established, I choose almost the same setup as you, I'm guessin it was for one of two reasons:
1) Higher resolution
2) Higher proc speed settings -
If you this is a solid fix, I solely praise you - because 15 minutes into using this brand new laptop I couldn't TOLERATE that popping. At first it was no biggie, but then it became a big problem.
Seems like a solid fix, thank you so much -
I received mine yesterday. I enjoyed the TV Tuner watching shows for hours. The video was crisp!
However, today the antenna had trouble picking up a signal. If I jiggle it at the connection, it will pick up some channels. It seems that the jack is faulty...it happened with two different antennas. HP support suggested that I ship the computer back to them to fix the jack.Did anyone else experience such a problem?
Also, there are more than 70 processes running in the background. On my XP machine, I never have more than 35. uninstalled most of the bloatware, but there are tens of HP tools running. Does anyone have a list of which processes I should deselect in the "selective startup" tab of msconfig?
Thanks for your help. -

Hey guys, any one knows when this 30% discount coupon is going to expire? If it expires will they soon have some other coupons?
-
For what i've read, they have these 30% off coupons once a month.. every week they change their coupons. Some weeks you have good ones and some weeks you don't. -
any one know what happened to the 2.4ghz cpu (p8600 i think) for the dv6t? it was available there 2 days ago, and now it's gone.
-
Has anyone loaded Win7 RC on to the laptop? Results? I was thinking about doing it this weekend.
-
-
so is the 2.4 temporarily gone and eventually coming and if that how far do you think because I was ready to purchase this laptop and poof no more 2.4ghz
-
But anyways there is no much difference in the performance of the existing processor to the 2.4ghz one.
Refer here,
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/mid_range_cpus.html -
Exactly! Don't hold back because if you were going to order the same laptop, but with a 2.4ghz, just get the 2.13ghz.
There is literally almost no performance difference even in BENCHMARKS....let alone real world performance. Its kinda like throwing out 75 bucks to get the 2.4ghz.
The P series processers however are MUCH faster, and cooler than the T series listed for the dv6t. So no doubt get the 2.13ghz -

Hey everyone, just checking in!
I got my dv6 on Friday. I paid £475 through EPP (through my company) for the following spec, usually around £560-600: (The model number is dv6-1133ea)
- Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit) with service pack 1
- Intel Pentium Dual Core T4200 (2.0GHz, 1MB Level 2 Cache, 800MHz FSB)
- 4GB DDR2-800 RAM
- ATi HD4530 graphics with 512MB of on board DDR3 RAM
- 250GB SATA 5400RPM Hard Disk
- Lightscribe DVD-RW supermulti drive
- 16" 1366*768 Glossy Widescreen
- Webcam
- Wireless G
- 6-cell Lithium Ion Battery
- Remote Control
No TV tuner or bluetooth, but I don't use either so no bother. I immediately installed Windows 7 RC 64 bit which is working flawlessly so far with either automatically-installed or Vista 64 drivers. I am getting 3 hours on a full charge of the battery which is very impressive!
So far I really love the laptop, the design is great, the white lights very stylish, the keyboard is lovely to use and is so quick to get used to, the screen is very nice, good colours and brightness and is not too glossy for me.
I've only really done windows based things so far but I will be installing some games and giving some feedback on the ATi graphics card. -

I do have a question: The ATi HD4530 on the dv6, the sticker on the laptop box says 512MB DDR3. I know this card can use DDR2, DDR3 and GDDR3, what kind of ram does this one have? Some seem to say GDDR3 but HP's specs say DDR3. Anyone know?
-
Perhaps you could try gpu-z.
-
It is GDDR3, as it is mentioned in the 3D mark06. -
Which screen do you recommend?
I don't understand the one vs the other.
