I recommend you print out the BD logo and tape it to your BD drive if you really want it that bad :p

hahah, knew someone would say this

but nah, i just wanted to know, does all dv6z users have their BD brand from HP itself like your's

or does some people also got the Optiarc from Sony for the BD? which what i suspect that Sony's Optiarc does not print a BD logo into the tray

From the looks of things, I'm now going to have to spend a few days trying to discover why this laptop is acting as if it were 10 years old. How exciting! Never buying from HP again...

    @City Pig
I just ordered my HP dv6t with the same specs as yours:
    Intel Core i5 450M | 6GB DDR3 RAM | 500GB 7200RPM HDD | ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1GB | Backlit Keyboard

Are you unhappy with it? What should I be "afraid" of?

ATI driver issues. It's incredibly unstable for me and will often just suddenly crap out. I'm looking for a solution, however, but it's likely that mine might just be a lemon with a faulty graphics card. I can't recommend HP nor ATI/AMD graphics after this...

    @City Pig
    You already formated the machine?
Changed to HP official drivers? Or ATI drivers?
Changed battery power options? (like when graphics are turned on...)
BIOS features about the graphic system?

That's all that I can think of...
And please... don't throw it away... sell it for me for a very good price =D

Sorry to hear about your issues CityPig, but I've had no issues with my overclocked 5650 and I've run both furmark and intel burn test at the same time with no issues except for heat [obviously]. I have a mostly issue free dv6t and I'm very happy with my machine. If it came in a smaller package that'd be great. I just wish the dv6 came with an independent cpu/gpu fan like the acer 3820tg.

Btw, love having my laptop at school. Computers been on for about 2 hours now and I'm at 65%. I are satisfieds.

I ran into a sound issue the other day when trying to use my laptop as a DVD drive, connected to my HDTV over HDMI, namely that there's a bit of crackling noise mixed in with the audio. I tried two different cables with the same result. I was using the DVD-playing software that came with the laptop (MediaSmart).

Has anyone used the HDMI out with no audio interference? Could it depend on the software used to play the DVD? I haven't tried using something like VLC Media Player yet.

Also, second issue, is there a way to disable the laptop's monitor when using the HDMI out?

I'm going to try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver now. However, I think the issue is somehow related to flash since I only experience these crashes while on YouTube. That leads me to believe that the old driver is somehow still in the system and causing issues. The only thing is that my last attempt resulted in a blue screen...

Here's what worked for me to prevent the old driver from being re-installed by Windows:

    1. Boot into Safe Mode.
    2. Express Uninstall ALL ATI Software via the ATI Install Manager
    3. Delete the driver from within SWSETUP - should be in Drivers\Graphics.
    4. Reboot and start the system normally.
    5. Install the new graphics driver.

Let us know how it goes

To access the install manager, go to Start > Control Panel > then click "Uninstall a program" (or if your control panel is in icon view click Programs and Features. Double click on the ATI Install Manager and double click on ATI Catalyst Install Manager, then follow the instructions.

To boot the system into safe mode, reboot and continue tapping F8 until the Windows Boot Manager screen appears, then choose Safe Mode using the arrow keys and hit Enter.

Did you try turning off hardware acceleration in Flash? I know it's a bit extreme but it should resolve any issues with Flash causing the drivers to go insane.

Haven't been able to take advantage of HDMI yet due to lack of equipment :(

On another note, my machine is still running those stress tests... temperatures after running for a few hours under full load: CPU: 82*C, GPU: 67*C, HDD: 34*C

Impressive compared to my Studio 15, which sees the CPU go up to 94*C, GPU at 103*C, and HDD at 44*C...

    What's your dv6t specs?
If it's a Core i7 and a Radeon 5470 the temperatures are just normal...

The specifications of my DV6T include an Intel Core i5 430M 2.26GHz w/2.53Ghz Turbo Boost, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 1 GB DDR3 graphics and 4 GB DDR3 SDRAM. Ambient room temperature is 26*C. Idle temperatures on the machine: CPU: 35*C, HDD: 31*C, GPU: 40*C - I'm impressed...

For those of you wanting to order a DV6T SE, try going to this link: HP Pavilion dv6 and dv6t Select Edition series | HP Official Store

Build date shows October 1st so I'm guessing there's a part shortage as mentioned previously...

EDIT: Looking closer, it seems like the configuration page shows AMD processors for the DV6t instead of Intel... hm.

    :D amd??

Well, my Windows Personalize and CCC are fighting who has last access to which monitor, output, and profile so I get weird mixed monitors with conflicting or locked settings. It's pretty minor, just to have take a minute to untangle.

The prices of the upgrades are confusing too. The much higher end upgrade is much cheaper than the one below it?? :D

Almost funny...than the last time they made a mistake...ie a 2GB downgrade is 200 bucks more a few months back

Hey guys, What do you think the idle temperatures should be on my i5-450m processor and my ATI 5650 VGA? also, how can i get to BIOS what key should I press??? and when I get there can i change some settings about the fan? like for example I want the fans to hit higher speeds earlier and get louder rather than have my left palm rest area hot like an oven...
    thanks

I just ordered the dv6tse. In order to do that, I had to go through the dv6zse link. The processor showed as intel, even though the product number showed as dv6zse. *however* when I got to my shopping cart it correctly showed it as a dv6tse.

Weird that you can't find the se's normally on hp's website.. I hope nothing will screw up with my order. It seems that now you can get an i5-460m which I don't think was possible before? So maybe all this is just happening as they update with the 460m option.
