I plan on ordering my DV6T SE today, but the build date is 6/17, and then probably 5-7 days for shipping, but I won't be around on the 20-25th, so I was wondering if the built date is accurate or if they often finish early or get delayed.

Hi. I just got a dv6 with ati 6770m. On the brochure it says it has gddr5, how can i confirm this on the notebook itself?
-
( I don't blame you)
-
Just making sure because I got it cheap from a PC show
Also, looking at notebook check, it says my WEI is supposed to be 6.9, but I only have 6.6.
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2630QM CPU @ 2.00GHz 7.5 5.9
Determined by lowest subscore
Memory (RAM) 8.00 GB 7.6
Graphics Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics 6.6
Gaming graphics 4837 MB Total available graphics memory 6.6
Primary hard disk 613GB Free (683GB Total) 5.9
I am also quite new to this kind of switchable graphics, because the last pc i used (envy 14), you just choose either integrated or dedicated, unlike this one where it chooses which program it will be switching. -
Hi guys, Summer is here, and now its time to clean out the dust in the laptop's heatsink fan.
I did it yesterday, i was getting ~97°C CPU and ~90°C GPU. (Checked with HWMonitor). My ambient temp right now is about 38°C. It's pretty hot here in the Tropic, isnt?
Two dust balls with cloth fiber were pulled out blowing with a compressed can. This motherf****s were blocking the air to flow out.
After the maintenance, now my temps drop to 90°C CPU and 86°C GPU, same ambient temp. A big improvement i have to admit, there are the same temps i had when i bought my laptop back in december 10'.
P.S. All the temps were benchmarking while playing a demanding game, like Crysis or Fallout New Vegas. -

Dont worry, you dont have to take apart the whole laptop to clean it. Futhermore, if you still have it under warranty, dont open it! It will void it!
To clean the dust from the heatsink fan, just aim the compressed can parallel to the laptop base, and blow directly to the fan holes. Also blow the heatsink fan located under the laptop. Check the fan spins while blowing, this is important, since you want to take apart the dust incrusted on it. Dont worry about the static generated from the fan spining, its minimal and you are not touching any metal could cause a micro discharge.
Blowing this two places clean 99% of the dust inside the laptop. In my case, the dust balls were traped inside the fan grills, so i take a needle and carrefully inserted through the grill and extracted this dust balls.
After this little maintenance, my temps drop drastically.
Cheers. -
Help please!
I own HP dv6t Select Edition from last summer. I recently did a clean install to Windows 7 Ultimate x64, along with updated drivers. But here's the problem:
There is svchost.exe *32 running on Task Manager under Processes. This is located in the Services as Power Manager. The file itself is located under C:\Windows, not C:\Windows\System32. Once this process appears, it takes up 25% of CPU and keeps the fans running like crazy. The only way to stop this is to end the process. I even tried deleting the file and registry entry found under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\PowerManager, but the process returns after a certain amount of time. Perhaps the file comes back after putting the computer to sleep and resume, or restart.
I'm having trouble fixing this problem myself. I've looked online for a long time for a fix but could not find much help.
If anyone knows about this particular issue after doing a clean install, please, please help me! Thank you in advance. -
Leave it alone, it makes your Windows works, thats all you have to know.
Every Windows since... Windows 2000 have this service running, its very normal it takes a quite of amount of resources. -
I'm aware it is a Windows service. I'm sure it is necessary for it to run to make my OS work. But my question is it did/should NOT take 25% CPU every time it runs. Power Manager is found as a virus when Microsoft Security Essentials scans for problems.
I'm also aware that this service was running properly when I first received the laptop last year. Perhaps there was something I did not install properly after the clean install.
If there is anyone who has had this issue after a clean install of operating system, please let me know.
Thank you. -
Are there any new AMD/ATI graphics drivers for this laptop? The latest version on the HP site is listed as, "2010-12-03 , Version:8.771.1.0, 198.64M" which seems pretty old to me. I am getting some weird graphics glitches in some of my games so I wanted to upgrade.
Edit: I also wanted to mention that I tried installing the latest graphics drivers from the AMD site but the installer said it was not compatible with my current card. This is even when I had the Radeon graphics activated (instead of the Intel power-saving graphics). -
I recently did a clean install of Win 7 Ultimate x64.
Which drivers should I install? More specifically, which drivers do I actually need for my machine to function correctly?
-Intel Chipset Device Software
-Intel Rapid Storage Technology
-Intel Management Engine Interface
-Intel Turbo Boost Technology
*Turbo Boost Technology installs a driver. Is that all I need for Turbo Boost to function? And without installing Turbo Boost, would I not be able to utilize the Turbo Boost capabilities?
Thank you. -
My sister is considering to purchase the DV6-3204TX, and I really like the specs it has for the price ($800AUD). She's only going to be use it for web browsing, listening to music, watching movies, youtube and such. Is it worth buying?
I've read around in this topic that many people have over heating issues?
My first laptop was a DV6500t and overall I was happy with it, just that the only complaints I had was the low battery life and it heated up rather quickly, but rarely over heated. -
Hi, i´m at a crossroads and was hoping any of you could help me.
I´m between buying a Lenovo Y570 08622MU
http://www.amazon.com/Lenovo-08622M...519CDDC/ref=dp_return_2?ie=UTF8&n=541966&s=pc
and a Pavilion dv6t, customized
HP Pavilion dv6 and dv6t series | HP Official Store
I would add 1GB Radeon(TM) HD 6770M GDDR5 Graphics and Intel i5 to the pavilion, making it in fact better for gaming than the lenovo.
My only two concerns:
The pavilion says it´s a "Notebook", by this does it mean Laptop or is it actually a notebook, meaning it´s lesser than a laptop.
Also, i´ve read LOTS of customer reviews about the poor quality and duration of the pavilions, as well as the HP service. I´m really scared about this, I don´t want my laptop falling apart soon.
Please, any thoughts? -

Hello,
I'm hoping someone here can help me with a problem I'm having with my new dv6t-se. Apparently it does not come with a numlock light indicator. Is there some other way to display the status of the numlock key (on/off)? I tried HP's "OnScreen Display Utility" but it appears to not be working (unless I did something wrong). Does this util work with the dv6t-se?
Thanks again,
SKK -
Well, I think I have a work around. There is a free utilitly called TrayStatus that shows the status of NumLock, CapLock, ScrollLock, etc in the status bar. It's not really what I wanted but it will work.
I'm still upset that some engineer at HP would seriously propose selling a system with a separte number keypad and not include some method to determine the status of the numLock - especially when they do include such for the CapLock.
Again, thanks for you time,

Hey guys.
I've got a dv6-3143us with the switchable graphics. I've been trying to update the ATi drivers for a while now, I even did a clean install of Windows. However, I've yet to find a way to get them to work with the switchable graphics. Has anyone been able to do this? -
hmm got my hp dv6 second hand a few days ago.

I need a new charger RIGHT NOW! Is using a third-party one safe, or do I really have to lay down $70?
-
Does any one know if DV6 3206ax has ESATA with port multiplier functionality?
want to buy a 8 bay DAS soonish, running out of usb ports -
apparently my Local cash converters had this laptop for sale for £239 making it the cheapest and most powerful system they had.
Other than it having spanish/french caplock etc i recommended my GF to buy it to replace an entry level samsung rv510.
The she has almost paid it off when its done im going to donate 2GB from her old samsung into this ones second slot.
The specifications will then be.
Aluminium Body HP DV6-3xxx
I7-720qm
Ati HD 5650 1GB
6GB DDR3
Non backlit EU keyboard
750gb HDD
Altech Lansing Speakers
1366x768 Display
Has anyone got a working link to the service manual would be a help i dont particularly need it but can speed up what im doing.
As soon as I recieve this laptop im giving it a full service before my GF recieves it.
In order for most efficiency.

My nephew has a dv6t-3100 that I service for him. Still going 2+ years later and he is pretty rough on laptops. No problems during the 1 year warranty. After that it would overheat and shutdown when on ATI graphics. Took it apart, cleaned the heatsink and fan, then used Arctic Silver 5. Fixed. Then the screen was cracked by a fall, replaced that and cleaned the heatsink and fan again. It is always full of cat hair.
It works fine but the backlit keyboard connector (the white side) on the mobo was so brittle that it broke in two. Now I have 4 pins sticking out. If I touch the cable to the pins just right the keyboard lights up, if it is a little off then the computer shuts down. How can I connect the cable to these pins? Bonus points if it doesn't require soldering, lol. -

hope it helps -
Her laptop seems to be spanish model though bios is english and is updated fine. £15 for a backlit keyboard replacement is good though finding the touch display for her model is hard, found a site that has no stock off it but it would cost $130 for it inlcuding cables and postage. Gonna get myself a new Wireless Intel card for my own laptop and use my one for hers. My laptop has poor aerials and an atheros card which cuts off for me on windows 8 intel card will help.
When i replace hers with mine she gets Bluetooth 4.0 to replace the bluetooth she doesnt have also.
Amazon.com: Electrically Conductive Wire Glue Bonds: Home Improvement
This glue should help and then maybe add some form of Padding to cover it so it doesnt loosen -
Thanks for the link, I'll give the glue a try. I hate to leave the kid without the backlights on his keyboard.
-
hope someone still looks in here.
I just replaced the motherboard (603642-001) it had a white screen issue.
hwmonitor / speedfan report temp 1 / tz01 as 85c i just want to know if it's a cpu or mobo issue? i can return the mobo within 90 days or if it's the cpu what one would be best to replace the current i5 450m with.
What ever it is is keeping the fan on constantly and driving me bonkers. thanks.
EDIT: the reason i haven't just assumed it is the mobo is cause it was the same with other mobo even though i couldn't see anything the fan was on constantly.
