the 7000 series should be using a slim model, so not sure if it will fit? I heard good thing about the screen, why you want to switch them>?

The screen does look good for sure - but the color accuracy is not as good as I would like. We're photographers and calibrate all monitors. The 1080p that comes with the dv6t is pretty damn good - but it's not as good as the AUO B156HW01 v4 as far as color reproduction.

I have both a HP DV6T-7000 Quad with a newer 1080p LGD037F screen and a Thinkpad W530 with a the AUO B156HW01 v4 display and while both seem to have pluses and minuses, the HP has by far the better display.

The HP seems to have an IPS display and has excellent viewing angles (Near IPS if it isnt) and the color accuracy is MUCH better even without calibration.

The AUO screen is very bright and vibrant, but whites seems to be off.

More importantly, while colors seem to pop a bit more than the HP, they pop TOO much & are EXTREMELY over-saturated to looking obviously unnatural. (Almost neon like.) I have used a calibrator, and even tried some profiles from W530 users on the web with even nicer calibrators. While it definitely tones things down and makes things a bit more accurate looking, there is still no comparison... the HP is much nicer and more natural and accurate.

To me, it doesnt seem worth the hassle of changing out for. In fact, if anything i was debating switching out the AUO for the HP screen since I like the Lenovo keyboard and build quality a bit better. However, I think Ill be sending the Lenovo back in favor of the HP... crazy, I know.

    Hope this helps...

Because the v4 is wide gamut and well, wide gamut is just a pain to deal without proper tools. I myself is trying to get a hand on a spectrophotometers from my school so I can do my v7. So much red hue now ~~. My 2212hm show ok color accuracy using a $20 colorimeter .

AUO B156HW01 V.4 & V.7 sold at LS are exact models.
We do not send "replacement/compatibles" for these screens, just the exact, geniune, pre-tested AUO B156HW01 V.4 (V.7)

I'd expect it to be something like LP156...

Yes I have this model from this seller in my DV6. The shipping is expensive, but after receiving it was worth it. It got to me quickly and had the best protection in the way of packaging I have seen, almost bullet proof. One other thing is when I had issues an suspecting the screen as a problem, the seller offered to return it, although lucky for me the problem was in the brand new HP FHD cable, so I did not need to send it back and was mint once the cable was address.

This is a good question. Personally there is a Monitor\LGD0349 in my dv6z, and it is damm nice, one of these in any dv6 (or any laptop) would be sweet.

I think it is one of the variant of LP156WF4?.

Got my b156hw01 v7 last week, but just so hard to calibrate w.o wide gamut tools and now there is IPS view angle new screen. Tempted to exchange if you guys carry it ~~ (But I think it is the slimer model you guy talked about earlier?)

So you mean to say that AOU B156HW01 is the best screen available for my dv6-6165tx laptop model by AUO.

The 7000 series does use a slimmer screen and normal thickness screens will not fit... I learned it the hard way. >.<

    Yeah, mine was a LP156WF4(SL)(B3).

So... everybody. I am starting a project for a mid level gaming laptop and i wanted to get anybody's thoughts on my setup and hopes/plans.

    I picked up a DV6-6135DX used for $390.

    Base specs:

    A8-3500M 1.5Ghz
    Radeon 6750M 1gb
    6gb RAM
    640gb HD
    Blu-Ray drive
    crap screen.

Newegg had 16gb ddr3 1600mhz SODIMM on sale two days ago for $50, so I grabbed one.

I've got an extra 120gb Crucial M4 sitting around

Getting an LG 1080 matte screen + cable from HP.

I would also like to remove the apu and gpu heatsinks and hit them with some Formula 6 diamond compound.

Lastly I'm going to try to get the flashed bios and overlock/undervolt and try to hit 2Ghz

I figure with those specs I should be able to play League of Legends at 1080p with high setting no problem. Which is usually the only game I play. My questions:

    A. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for the BIOS versions or mods?

    B. Will the BIOS mods allow me to run the RAM at 1600mhz and tune the timings?

    C. What are your experiences with overclocking and undervolting these chips? Specifically voltage and top clock speeds. I'm thinking about disabling two cores (BIOS permitting) and trying to really up the clock on the other two for mostly gaming performance.

    D. Has anyone had any experience re-applying thermal paste in the dv6 series? And do you know of any after-market or ghetto rigged heatsink that might perform better?

Thanks, I'm going with the HP part. People have had a lot of success with them. Would you happen to know if I should be concerned about the left/right connector based on my model? or just order the recommended cable and LED and wait and see.

Not sure on pricing from HP parts, but getting from third party tend to be cheaper. Bios version, just use the stock unless you going to swap wifi card or software OC brothers you.
1600mhz is not going to happen on a 3500M, but $50 is pretty much the price for 1333 so don't be brothered about it.
Usually people can keep all 4 cores at 2.2ghz @1.075VID

That is an amazing resource for the overclocking bit. Thank you very much. Do you happen to know where I might find a third party display cable? I'm looking at $60 for the cheapest from HP after shipping. The official HP part is 665305-001

Just for an fyi for everybody, waresphere.com has a replacement for the HP part number 665305-001 for the Dv6-6135DX FHD cable.

LCD LVDS Cable of HP Pavilion DV6-6000 FHD 50.4RN10.022

I ordered one and will let you all know if it works. The item plus shipping came out to about $23

I want matte screen with the best image quality. These are available on ebay imported from US but they have dead pixel policy of 1 to 5. What does it mean?

    AutoArc,

I noticed that the cable is no longer available on the HP partsurfer, is there any other place that you suggest that I order the part? I am wanting to upgrade my dv6-6135dx to the 1080p matte screen.

Is that the 1080p cable ? I ordered it here but it is not being shipped until the 19th of this month :S I ordered the 1080p glossy from here and only hope it comes with no dead pixels.

*** I need some help. Can someone tell me if that cable will work ok ? Also is there anywhere else that can ship the same cable straight away ? I have to wait until the 19th before they ship it.

Also I think I might have some problem installing the cable, taking off the screen is ok thanks to the videos but the cable does not look as straight forward. Do I really have to take out the Hard Disk, DVD drive etc ? I am not exactly sure where it is meant to plug in ??

I am also wondering about the webcam and how that works when i intend to replace the cable connecting the screen to the laptop ???

Pretty sure that cable will work in both 60xx or 61xx. They ship it from china/hong kong/singapore and it is chinese new year so that is normal.

I think it is easier to take out the palm rest compare to removing the screen. Just take a look at the manual.
Webcam, you just detach the cable and use the new one, nothing fancy. You will see everything when you take out the palm rest.

Upgrade looks beautiful, 4-5 dead pixels but they are near the edge so quality has not suffered much.

A note to users that wish to upgrade: Test your display and cable by plugging them into the motherboard before doing your swap, you don't want to be digging in this far again; also this would be a good time to complicate any other maintenance as the whole laptop must be disassembled.

    Hello,

I also think about replacing my screen.
My notebook is the hp dv6-6108sg. Is that possible.

If yes, I've got a few questions:
    1) Is it possible to replace the screen with an IPS panel? If yes, which panel should I choose.
    2) Which is the better one: The AUO B156HW 01 v. 4 or the LG screen? Or are there any other screens?
    3) The links I found don't work anymore. On waresphere.com I found this cable: LCD LVDS Cable of HP Pavilion DV6-6000 FHD 50.4RN10.022
Is it possible to use this cable in my device? Is there a difference if I buy the cable at HP or at Waresphere.com

    Hello all,

I purchased the AUO B156HW01 V.4 and the LCD LVDS Cable of HP Pavilion DV6-6000 FHD 50.4RN10.022. Whenever I installed both, the power plug LED on the laptop just blinks. Is it possible that there's something wrong with the display cable? Or is it the display that's the issue? I've tested another motherboard and the same issue occurs. It'd be much appreciated if someone could help me out!

Update: Got everything to work after ordering the cable from HP Parts instead, I called and placed the order and 15% off.
