allright, i guess I'll wait for that email too. I don't think it's another delay because I'm pretty sure they are done with the delays. We did have a period of delays but it seems like things are beginning to pick up

saturnotaku Notebook Nobel Laureate
4/16 was a Saturday, so you probably wouldn't receive a shipment e-mail until tonight.
-
All, my order date was 3/22, estimated ship date was 4/5, first delay to 4/13 and second delay to 4/19. I believe there will be a third delay so I look forward to another delay email tomorrow night.
I also spoke with a supervisor at the Resolution Center who informed me that the Intel chipsets are the main culprit for the delay. As far as HP knows, they are still waiting for another batch to come from Japan. My dv7t is still waiting for the chipset to complete production. It looks like some people with 3/14 - 3/16 order dates have their laptops shipped, so I assume it'll gradually but slowly move towards those who order in the week subsequent to that. -
so what is the longest delay we've had now? 04/27?
Mine placed on 04/01, estimated to ship today, 04/18. But I think I'll get the delay notification.
and my question is, WHY DO THEY MAKE A LOT OF "QUICK SHIP" EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVEN'T SHIPPED OUT OUR CUSTOMIZED LAPTOPS?
I don't want to say this but it seemed like HP is not respecting us, people who customized their way laptop. -
3/21 is the latest date Order date I have heard of shipping as of now, though there are also some earlier order dates yet to ship as well. If you ordered 4/01 I wouldnt be expecting it quickly.
-
Are you buying a dv6 or dv7? Because the dv7's quick ship has the last gen's specs, (which means they don't have any dv7ts on quick ship yet).
-
As for me I ordered on 3/22.
Ship date of 4/5.
First Delay 4/12.
Second Delay 4/15
Third Delay 4/27 --> At this point I canceled my first order and went with the quick ship.
The quick ship will arrive 4/19 and the original order shipped out this morning and will arrive 4/22.
Do you guys think HP will let me swap out the 1TB 5400RPM HDD for my customized 640GB 7200RPM? -
Did you have to pay extra for the quick ship laptop?
-
My cousin got his dv6t on 03/28 without any delay, he ordered on 03/13. Although some placed their order on or before 03/13 has been delayed up to now, or got their laptop late on first or second week of April.
So what kind of shortages is HP facing that procrastinates our orders? -
What they don't know won't hurt them
. In all seriousness just swap the HDDs and I bet they won't even notice. And if they do, what's the worst that could happen? You have to swap the HDDs back, there is nothing to lose.
-
I'm getting the dv7. I just checked it out and saw the previous gen pic, is that a mistake?
-
No I actually paid less. I posted this bask a few posts:
My total for the original was $877. The quick ship came down to $838.25 and I also got them to throw in a free 9 cell battery. I hope they let me take it and the HDD out of my customized order. -
Then what happens if you have a problem with the HDD that would normally be covered under warranty. I wouldn't try "getting away" with anything.
-
Maybe it has to do with Japan, since the time table is coincidentally similar to the natural disaster.
-
I contact HP about having the wrong pictures and if they had changed the model that they are selling. They told me that they are having "technical difficulties" and that the laptop will be the latest model.
Also the Quick Ship model listed the specs wrong. It is the latest generation and someone contacted HP to confirm this. I will reconfirm this tomorrow when I get mine.
Oh and I don't plan on swapping them out with out telling them. It is not worth that much hassle. If they give me the green light, then good, if not then I will complain more and more
Its not the biggest deal.
-
Yea, I'd be concerned that they wouldn't let you return the laptop, or they'd make you pay for both. That would be awful.
-
Do you know if the 6570 GPU is right? Not 6770?
-
That shouldn't be a problem because I canceled the order before it shipped. They said that it might ship so all I have to do is call them and ask them for a new shipping label.
Read all the posts from yesterday (P3,4,5 i think) between nicksavop and myself. We figured out that the correct information is in a PDF in the specs tab.
-
Right, I meant order date. Your cousin ordered on 3/13 so he should have gotten it by now. I have yet to hear of someone who ordered past 3/21 getting a shipping confirmation so they are currently around there.
-
It is the 6770M. The 6570M was from the 5xxx series. Simply false details on the info site from hp
-
I talked to them two different times yesterday and they confirmed the pdf listed under the specs tab is accurate. So yes it has the 6770.
-
Mine was ordered 3/22 and It shipped today.
-
If my order's status is :"Order in production" what does it mean?
For how long can I expact it to remain in production? -
I ordered on 3/20. I've been waitin' longer than you.
Original shipping date was 4/1, then 4/12, then 4/15, now 4/27.
-
Don't put any stock in that status. Mine has been "in production" since ~ 3/22. My status says that it will ship on April 1st, 2011!
-
I'm just hoping that the Quick-Ships don't have the defective chipset or some other problem. It is strange that they have the Quick Ships available but not the custom ones which were ordered before the quick ships came on the market. Maybe they made the quick ships before the earthquake and ensuing shortages.
-
You are now the latest I know of. So 3/22 is the latest we have a confirmed order date shipping, though we still have many from before that waiting as well.
-
Given the general knowledge level of HP phone sales, I think I'll reserve judgment on that until somebody who ordered in the last week has a Quick Ship in hand.
If I had a Quick Ship and a CTO on the way, I wouldn't return the CTO until I'd had a good long look at the Quick Ship. -
Thank guys for the GPU information.
Well, actually I've been waiting from 03/12, that was the day I first placed the ENVY. But it would take too long to ship out, so I canceled it and came to dv7t thinking no delay. But it doesn't seem to be like that.
Yes, I've been thinking the same way to you! They have made several Quick-ships before the disaster. Now we're facing "delay disaster"
-
Yeah, received tracking number, delivery date started as 21st but already changed to 22nd..Can't believe it's not shipped 2 day after all this, but at least it's on the move
-
Just got my 2nd delay email:
Ordered 3/28
Original Ship estimate: 4/12
1st delay: 4/16
2nd delay: 5/2
Calling for my 10% now -
Me too.
3/25 -> 4/12 -> 4/18 -> 5/2 -
alright the 20th is my expected ship date, wish me luck! please no 2nd delay
-
Really HP, are you serious? delaying people from March to FREAKING MAY? That is just absurd. I am currently delayed until 4/22, im guessing my next delay is going to be till 6/29.
-
I wouldn't get to crazy over the delay emails, theirs been a few people that had delay emails that where for 4-27 that had there order ship out today, from what I saw they were mostly orders from 3-16 to 3-22 so it looks like their picking up production....I hope.
-
I am with you on the hoping part. I am just saying it really sucks for people who are in need of a laptop. I really won't be mad if mine gets delayed anymore as long as i get reimbursed for it and i get it before the fall when I go to college. Thats not the same story for everyone else though...
-
Ordered 3-25 Delayed 4-16 Delayed AGAIN today to 5-2...
I wonder if they will have any Envy 17 3d deals soon if i canceled..... -
ordered on 23rd, hope that counts as the "later" orders
-
I just talked to an agent on the phone about the delay. He told me that because of Intel Sandy Bridge problem; HP couldn't ship out the defective products, then he confirmed that the problem has been solved already. It leads to the delay.
Then how about the Quick-ships products? He said, "those who have received the Quick-Ships may notice some problems on the applications in their notebook." <-- ?!?
Thus, he also confirmed that the delay is not come up by the batteries shortage from Japan. -
weird! when i talk to them on the phone ALL of them have no clue what is causing the delay.
-
Hmm, does that mean that the Quick ships have the defective chipset?
-
yes, it means that! I have no clue if he's telling the truth.
-
I just fornd this article on HP's sight regarding the chipset issue in regards to the dv6-6091. Link If the link doesn't work I found it in the page that shows drivers for the quick ship model.
It looks like some will be based on the model number on the bottom. I guess I'm glad that my canceled order shipped. If my quick ship is sour then I'll just keep the customized one
-
Ordered on 3/31 ship date was 4/15, just got an email saying 5/2!! Too bad this is for my first order, the laptop I'm sending back. My other laptop is shipping on 5/2 supposedly..gonna prob be June at this rate.
I got my 15% coupon. Anyone able to apply that too their delayed order yet?? -
What did you say your order date was?
-
I cannot imagine that any company would knowingly sell products with defects that have been announced publicly. Seems it would not only damage their reputation but also subject them to litigation - not to mention the impact on Intel's reputation for allowing such to happen. My suspicion is that production capacity has been consumed producing the quick ship models (with the good chip sets) with our custom models taking second priority. HP and other manufacturers are obliged to provide models such as quick ship and retail models to satisfy the masses and the shareholders. While it does not seem right to those of us who desire a specific configuration, my guess is that there is higher sales volume and profit to be had from the quick ship models.
Unfortunately, it takes longer for us to get our custom laptops. I am sure this comment will not be popular, but that is the price we pay for requiring products that are not "off the shelf". I feel the pain too, obviously, as I am also anxiously awaiting my dv6tqe and using a laptop that is on it's last legs and praying that it lasts until I receive my HP. -
Can you guys please let me know if you are able to cancel your order when you receive the first delay notification?
-
Based on previous posts, I think you can safely assume that you cannot cancel after the first delay. It's my understanding that you can only cancel when you get the email saying that you must call them if you want to continue waiting for your order. According to others, you will only receive this if your order does not ship within 30 days of order.
-
Are you sure? From what I understood of the email I got is like that:
after 1st delay they will not cancel your order automatically, but you may call then if you are not happy (and may ask for canceling it)
after 2nd delay, you have to reply and tell then not to cancel (if you still want to wait). Otherwise they are obligated by law to cancel it. -
Yeah... Good news... I am one of those..
Ordered on 3/20, with expected shipping 4/01 then 4/11 then 4/14 and then 4/27. But today (4/18) they shipped. HP custumer service was sarcastic enough to say they are happy about they fact that they managed to ship my laptop much earlier than the expected shipping date (4/27).
My dv6t qe, i7-2630QM, 6490M, 6Gb, 750Gb has was originally $878 (including taxes). I got $50 discount for the 1st delay, and 10% ($80) for the second. I ignored the 3rd email because at this point I though I was really going to let them cancel my order (I need the computer to travel in two weeks). But before I called them to complain the 3rd time, they shipped it.
So I ended up paying $748 (with taxes included). I am sad that I didn't get the fast shipping version with the much better video card, but I am even more happy that my laptop is finally coming and for such a great price (and hopefully no bad chipset).
