I don't have first hand experience as my original estimated ship date is not until May 3rd, however, I have read many posts from which I formulated my response.

Per US law, they must give you the option to cancel your order after the first delay. At that point they are allowed to assume you do not want to cancel. If there is a second delay, they are required to confirm your acceptance of the second delay. If they do not here from you for the second delay they must automatically cancel your order.
The delay emails you get spell it out pretty clearly. Here's a summary:
1st delay email: You can cancel but if we don't hear from you we assume you still want the order. And here's a 15% off coupon for your next order.
2nd delay email: You can cancel and if we don't hear from you we assume you want to cancel. We are taking 10% off your order because we don't want you to cancel. -
just put my order in for a dv7tqe on sunday, and an estimate ship date of may 9.. hope it's sooner! but from the looks of it i doubt it
-
I've just got my fourth order declined, I've used THREE different credit cards and nothing.
HP isn't really helpful either.. I'm getting so frustrated I just want a laptop ): -

Are you trying to have the system shipped to a different address than your billing one? Is it on file with your CC company?
Have you tried using your CC through PayPal? As an absolute last resort, you could try to buy a gift card for the HP store and use those. -
Just got another delay to April 27. See Sig
-
O.O holy ..... 5 delay´s already? dv6 or dv7 ?
-
Dood, this is just wrong.

Dv7 . basic quad processor, 8ram, 6770, 640 @ 7200rpm, bluetooth and lightscribe.
I went into my local apple store yesterday, (call me crazy) and almost stepped into the darkside

For everyone getting delays and expecting discounts please remember this.
If you already got say $50 off for a delay, and then got an e-mail saying 10% off you will NOT get 10% off the order.
My order was aprox $1k
After first delay I called and got $50 off
After second delay I got 10% off e-mail, called and they stated that it would be $50 off for the first delay and $50 off for the second. So $900 total instead of $850.
To those of you thinking of ordering one of these, wait to get a good deal from a different company. -
lol. thanks
-
You know, I hate the big fruit computer company, but crap like this pulled by HP really makes you appreciate it sometimes.
-
Tell me about it. But to get a notebook with the cheapest quad-core (somewhat close) to the specs on the HP notebook I ordered, I would have to pay almost $600 more, and its still not even close
-
If that's the case you should call and seriously complain, they can't promise everyone all these credits then go back on it and say we can only give you $100. In my case I got a confirmation # for my first credit ($30), and second credit ($50), then I had them email me confirmation on exactly how much the10% was going to be ($83). Unles they can show me where they have it written that they can only give a maximum of $100 credit I think we have a very good argument. If not there's always the BBB.
-
I think you should try and talk to another rep about this. They never say anywhere in the email that their is a $100 deduction limit due to delays. That sonds like some supervisor across the world made up on the spot.
-
I received more than $100 off. I received ~$46 off from the difference between the first 30% coupon and the newer 33% coupon. That brought the total down to $1033. Then the 10% is applied which brings it down another $103.30 cents.
-
It looks like the initial lead-time estimates for new orders are getting shorter at least!
-
I'll give them another call today.
And also, they promised me expedited shipping after the first delay.
My call after the second delay stated that I was standard ground.
I'll never recommend another HP product to anyone. I should have just spent a little more and gone with a Sager because OBVIOUSLY I'm getting what I paid for by going with the lesser price. -
Do we have any idea when the last dv7tQE was shipped? I keep reading posts about people that have had their dv6tQE ship but not the dv7.... Sorry if I missed one, but I'm trying to get a timeline gauge. =( Mine's scheduled to ship on the 25th but I'm not holding my breath.
-
My dv7 is supposed to ship today. Ive called and got the general call back at 10pm est and we should have more info. This will be the 3rd delay if it is not shipped today. I will probably end up cancelling and going with a sager5160 is they do delay. But ill let you know if mine does indeed ship. Doubtful though.
-
Hi all. Ordered the dv7tqe on 3/26 with ship date of 4/11, got delayed to 4/19. I'm expecting a delay email tomorrow
The 10% off makes it a little easier, but I've been out a laptop for a while now, and it's driving me nuts. OH well.
-
My estimated ship date is April 18th, but right now is 19. My laptop is still in production. I haven't received any information from Hp yet?. So sad!!!
-
Ordered on 3/19, Expected Ship date was 4/4...delayed until 4/15 and then delayed again until 4/27. How are people who ordered on dates after mine getting shipping notifications? HP you disappoint.
-
You will get your delay email tonight :-(
-
Thanks, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you! I hope it ships, I just want to move on from this horrible situation.
-
This. Incredibly frustrating
-
Your delay email is coming soon.
Dv7s shipping much slower.
Ordered my dv7 on 3/18 with a ship date of 4/1.
Delayed until 4/11
Delayed until 4/15
Delayed until 4/27
Still in production. Orders of dv6s on my order date (3/18) are pretty much all shipped.
With an order date of 3/26 on a dv7 you will get pushed into may. -
Ordered 3-23, ship date 4-8.
Got $50 credit for memory upgrade 4-4 (some others got $60, but I was happy)
On 4-11, shipping delayed to 4-20. I didn't try to squeeze any more money out of them even though others were getting $50/10%/15% for shipping delays at the time. I didn't really NEED the computer until 4-20, and there was always a chance it might get here by then.
On 4-19, it's obvious that I'm screwed on getting the computer by tomorrow. Wanted to get in my first delay discount before they offer me a second delay discount. Spent an hour on phone/chat/phone, finally got $30 for the delay. Not really worth the effort.
I hope it ships tomorrow, some people with 3-22 order dates have been getting ship notices already. -
What version did you get again tax? dv6t or dv7t?
-
Has anyone been told what exactly is the holdup on building these out? I have not pulled the trigger on a configuration I put together yet but the estimated build date for it is May 10. Does that mean the ship date or what?
-
That means it will ship on or around that date.
But, dont hold your breath. Some of us (including myself) have been waiting over a month -
For those who have been lucky enough to receive a tracking number, did you get it on the estimated shipment day? If so was it early or late? I'm expecting to get my 2nd delay email as today is the 2nd ESD, and I haven't heard anything yet. This was the pattern on my first, ie nothing until the day after than I got the delayed email.
-
My first delay was to 4/15. On that day, I received my 2nd delay to 4/27. 3 days later, on 4/18, I received my shipping notice and tracking number.
-
MyFishWagon I just called HP and he said that the MAY 11 ship date on orders placed today can be written in stone.blablabla... Gave me a bunch of doublespeak about how all the delays are due to the chipset fiasco. Even your March 17 order. I am having a real hard time believing HP about anything they tell me. I was going to send back a preconfigured quick ship Pavilion due to a lie they told me about it but I cant deal with a bunch more runaround from them on another order. They are starting to look like a bunch of con artists to me.
-
Is anyone giving up and canceling due to delays? How is everyone holding up???
-
I dont think anyone has any concrete evidence of exactly WHY were all being delayed into oblivion. The general concensus to me looks like it's probably a combo-disaster of the b2 chipset failure. lack of b3 chipsets being produced. and japan's multi-earthquakes. And as far as estimated build dates go, take them with a very fine grain of salt.
-
All, I just got the shipping notification. I ordered on 3/22, estimated ship was 4/5, first delay 4/13 and second delay 4/19. So I got the shipping right on the dot. I think this is pretty rare considering many have gotten delays until 4/27 but got shipping much earlier.
-
did you order the dv6t or the dv7t? What are you specifications?
-
I want my shipping notification.
-
A pair of dv7t.
-
Intel Chipset was the culprit. I spoke with a supervisor and was told they were waiting on a batch from Japan.
-

I've pretty much passed the point of no return. If I were to cancel and order something else, I'd be waiting until at least early May. Aside from a better screen, anything else I order would have inferior specs compared to the HP. Considering the price I'm paying, I'm going to stick it out. I'm currently borrowing a ThinkPad from work so I'm not without a computer, and I'll see if I can hold on to it until my system ships. -
I ordered this same combination with the normal battery (not the over-sized) on 3/18. Still has not shipped.
Wow I love HP -
Well, one thing I made it clear to them is that I am flying to Asia for work on 4/27 so I need the laptop before then. My expected delivery date is 4/26, one day before my departure.
-
When I go to HP.com and click on My Orders, it still shows the [not updated] old ship date of 4/11. Is it the same for everyone else?
-
yes - for me anyway
-
At least, it seems, the dv7ts are on the move...
-
So i just got off the phone with Corporate Resolutions.
Not the standard Customer Service number they give you. FYI 800.756.0608 option 7
They told me that tracking numbers only update once per day. So if you are like and wondering if your tracking email will come later in the day ....it won't. I was also told the only way to cancel my order was to refuse shipment. This is crazy and I am filing a BBB complaint. They need to get their sh*t together.
