May just be a driver issue then. Clear/reinstall only way to check tho.

It is not a real problem, just that I cant do clean restart. Shutdown -> boot work fine.It is cause by the intel 6200,It run fine with the stock wireless card. I actually ordering a new intel card cause I used the 6200 on a desktop.

12.3 installed punky dory for me and having zero problems. I'm about halfway thru my gameing inventory and nothing yet. I like the new control panel options, and according to my monitors, the built in ati overdrive overclocking utility really WORKS!!!!. I've never seen over 83C on this machine and that was stressing the *chit* out of it, OD kept ratcheting things up and up and up and all of a sudden I look down and I'm at 92..so it was REALLY 'cooking', both figuratively AND literally :) Judging from those temps, it was running substantially faster than I've ever run it. Soooo, I'm thinking the 12.3 drivers match up with the 6750 very well, there were no artifacts or 'blips' of any kind. I shut it down *early* tho when i saw the 92..whatever extra performance was being made available couldn't be worth it at those temps :)

One thing tho, if you decide to install them, one *trick* you might try is to do the obligatory uninstall routine, then reboot, then do the install, then do a custom uninstall on the ccc, then reinstall. the custom reinstall, resulted in overdrive, the system monitor, and the Vision control Center all working perfectly. Haven't seen all of it working on this machine since I changed from the oem drivers right after I bought it.

The windows 8 preview drivers are also extremely solid, installed since they appeared and not a single BSOD was given, they also work wonders with xfire. (I forced them to install on windows 7)

    Some Food for Thought...
Perhaps due to the nature of what I run, or perhaps since I run a 3530mx and not one of the desktop llano's mentioned in the following...but I *presume* the coding of the two series of chips to be the same...

    here is something of interest.

no, I don't, but remember, you have to go into the registry and make those corrections if you haven't already. I will tell you one thing, with my bios, the 12.3 drivers have cut down the base fan speed resulting in base temp increases of almost 7 C, on the other hand, under full load it now runs a bit cooler. Low seventies at full kick.

As I understand it, there was a microcode defect having to do with several math /integer functions, primarily division, if I remember correctly. In any event, amd put out a work around. I've never experienced this loss of integer performance so can't say much more about it. I would've thought by now, a subsequent stepping would've resolved the issue..

I thought the registry thing was only for higher end GPUs. I tried the registry thing for the 6970m/6990m a while back and I couldn't do it with the 6750m because some files and values just didn't exist.

i just installed overdrive, and it messes with cpu clocks in a bad way.

while the multiplier goes up high enough, when you click apply, it doesn't overclock. you don't have the same level of control as from k10stat

I'm about to order 8GB ram kit from newegg, it's the g.skill ddr3 1600 2x4GB kit. I'm pretty sure I read in this thread that the dv6z 6100 Cto laptops will run it at 1600, am I correct? Mine has the a8-3510mx.

I'm also looking at the seagate momentus xt 750GB hybrid 7200rpm HDD, I haven't been able to find of this model laptop supports SATA III. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Thanks, loving this little laptop so far!

    MX CPU's support 1600MHz RAM.
This laptop supports SATA III as well. But you won't even exceed SATA II speeds with the Momentus XT.

well, i use the reader on half a dozen proggies, if you use big pwords, it saves a lot of time.

on another front, if you've been waiting to take a shot at linux, well the time is almost now :)

I'm typing this on the second beta of ubuntu 12.04 and i gotta tell you, it installed without a hitch, id'd the hp lappie and installed the appropriate drivers, and is frankly darned fast and apparently stable. been on it for about six hours now. burn the iso to a dvd or mount it with one of the available windows tools. pretty darned nice.

I think the problem might be that the new driver package that you installed did not contain all of the necessary components, and is missing the vision engine control center.

You should try wiping current drivers and installing 12.1a preview. It is known to contain everything.

    http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/Catalyst121apreviewdriver.aspx

Once that is installed you can update to a later driver if desired. Also many of us have found that these drivers are one of the most stable, so you may not wish to update to a newer driver.

Another good stable package would be the windows 8 developer preview. It is supposed to have superior crossfire performance. Get it here:
AMD Catalyst Drivers Windows 8 Consumer Preview

EDIT : That worked great, the installer said there were errors but their were non in the list, all seems to be working fine, just one thing 12.3 had built in overclocking, a stress test, do you know what i am talking about, unless i installed something separate.

What is the process for removing the bottom cover on the notebook to change memory, hdd, ect.

I have had 20+ notebooks and they all had screws holding the bottom cover on, this notebook has no screws or even a lip to pull the cover off, so how do you remove it.

I use this program on all my computers: DiskLED (download link at bottom of page). I throw it in my startup folder. It's an hdd indicator light that shows up in your system tray. You'll have to set it so that it always displays in the tray though by right clicking the up arrow in the system tray and choose properties, then 'choose notification icons' at the bottom and set it to "show icon and notifications".

Yes you are correct. 12.3 has those things and more, and, they work.
I had posted about how to install 12.3.

    seer

Ok, I had posted about the change in temps resulting from the 12.3 install, running the overdrive etc. and the change in fan speed curve, all resulting in a pretty big jump in base system temps, but chopping some off the top.
Well, I had been running the windows classic desktop theme but today switched to aero to check the effect of the new drivers. And while I was at it, I did my std, fireup k10stat, then fusion tweaker, then kill off k10stat..Well, when I kicked in aero, it was startling FASTER, AND, my base temps immediately FELL about 10C...I have absolutely no idea of why all this happened. I can only conclude that there remains waaaaay too much "voodoo" in these llano boxes LOL., but, I'm not complaining :) If I figure anything out, I'll post it up.

Three or four pages back I think.

"One thing tho, if you decide to install them, one *trick* you might try is to do the obligatory uninstall routine, then reboot, then do the install, then do a custom uninstall on the ccc, then reinstall."

The trick is using the built in install routines in the 12.3 mobility drivers. Use the built in express uninstall, then reboot, then install the 12.3. Then fire up the built in "custom" uninstall, and uninstall the ccc. When that completes, do another "custom " install on the ccc. All should show up in their appointed places and work.
If you run the Overdrive routine..keep an eye on the temps...you may want to shut it down. I think the temp 'fail' on the a-8 llano's is around 100c, but if you pass 90...You're pushing it. Good luck.

Ok, guys, just a heads up for those even considering an inexpensive tablet.
As I posted sometime ago, I got the bug to play with a tablet but failing to come up with a justification for a 7 or 800 dollar Ipad etc., (and being generally pre-disposed against the apple marketing model (i.e. overcharge the hell out of people while keeping a stranglehold on the op system, apps, and price of software/apps/etc, not to mention furnishing the 'powers that be' with every detail of one's life and activities that can be possibly accumulated ((yeah google's android fails here also, at least before rooting the system and tweaks))

in any event, I looked around and settled on the Archos 80g9 for around 220.00 and have been pretty happy with the machine and frankly surprised at its utility, once you get used to the 'touch' way of doing things. HOWEVER, now Archos has seriously upgraded the g9 series from the original TI 'arm' omap 4430 dual core, running at 1ghz, w 512 megs of mem; to the 4460 dual core at 1.5ghz with 1gig of ram. As a percentage increase in performance, this is pretty strong stuff, in fact, its faster than the 800 dollar "New" ipad (3). Now for sure it doesn't have the super screen, but the one it has works well, the colors are strong, and the resolution more than sufficient for an 8" screen. What the ARchos DOES have tho, is rather amazing for the price..(248 at Amazon from "Antonline". First it has the Motorola mini usb connector which is used for charging and connecting to your puter etc.; then it has hidden on the back, a full sized usb connector for the europe optional 3g module. HOWEVER, if you go into settings and turn on the "3g" that thing becomes a full service usb 2 port. I can plug in my external 500 gig drive and watch movies on the tablet thru it, hook up a mouse, keyboard...the whole nine yards... I'm not aware of anyone else who has this. Then you have the micro sdhc slot for up to 32gig more mem, the headphone jack, and the mini hdmi port which actually works :) I can and have watched movies on my big screen in 1080p running off the tablet :) way cool, and because ARchos has hardware encoding assist, its smooth as ...well <insert your own metaphor here>.
It also has all the normal sensor goodies, gps, etc., is hella fun to play games on (once you get used to the tilt and turn accelerometer based interface), and has pretty decent bat life, (10 to 12 hours of active use...).

You can go nutz on apps, you'll be amazed at how well and how fast google earth runs on this thing, not to mention the sky chart/maps programs, and, with Google maps' new Naviation proggie, it becomes a travel gps complete with voice directed turns etc...pretty nutz really. It comes with the latest android, (Ice Cream Sandwich which is android 4.0) and frankly, this thing is just a lot of fun to fool around with. There's also a full complement of office apps that have no problem reading and editing std MS office fare, Xcell/Word/ PowerPoint etc.

AND, if you have tethering on your phone (which I have) whoosh, forget the 3g module, and run 4g net off the cell. AND...use one of the various voip apps and you've got seriously cheap phone call ability. Skype calls and even video conferencing run just fine on this this thing, ...no runs, no blips..no errors. All for around 248.00 at the moment with 8gigs of internal storage.

You can even get this thing in a version with a 250 gig Momentus hybrid drive...nutz.

In any event, if you've even been considering a tablet, take a look before you plop down the *big* bucks for an apple, asus, or whatever..
For the money, there's really nothing close.
Oh, and btw..its a BUNCH faster than the ipad, the acer, and the toshiba. It is a lot faster than the tegra 2's and according to at least one tester who put em side to side, faster in most things than a tegra 3...and that's supposedly state of the art at the moment.
oh, one last thing...it has a kickstand..a little lever that comes out the back, works in either landscape or portrait mode, and is just so damned useful in real life that you marvel that no one else has included the feature.
Hats off to Archos on this one. dunno how long this 134.00 discount will last.

Oh, one last thing :) The guys at XDA (google it) have rooted it, compiled overclock kernels, AND added the ability to dual boot it, totally reconfigure the file system so that you can set default program storage/data to run off a fast 32gig micro SDHC module ( mine is a sandisk waterproof class 10 :) bout 28 bucks more) AND do all sorts of customization tricks for those who just love to 'fiddle' with this device :) and strange as it may seem, you can even turn off all the location reporting, install crypto services, add killers, id hiders etc. for those who just don't want everything they do being reported to those previously mentioned 'powers that be'.

All in all, a whole lot of cheap fun for the inner geek.

I think if you have 11.11c or 12.1a, you can just uninstall/reboot/12.3/custom uninstall CCC/custom install CCC

The thing I am not sure about is how many more times a reboot will be needed. I am still on 11.11c actually but there's two good candidates for sure (12.1a and Win8 Preview) plus 12.3 if Seer's voodoo actually works. His machine seems really strange altogether, fast CPU clock and weak graphics boost paired with WORKING FAN CONTROL which basically nobody has that last one. Some of Seer's changes work for us and some appear unique to his motherboard.

I tried Win8 Preview, it did not install at all, even tried have disk method , not compatible?

v12.1a installs fine, but it does not have the built in overclocking of v12.3

I upgraded my drivers and got that old "Unknown Device" back in Device Manager; I can't remember for the life of me what it is or where to go for the driver. Essentially:

    PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_780B&SUBSYS_358D103C&REV_13
    PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_780B&SUBSYS_358D103C
    PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_780B&CC_0C0500
    PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_780B&CC_0C05

    What am I forgetting?
