I had the same problem. You will need to recover original hp bios to fix that problem. Here is how I fixed it.

    1. Remove AC Adapter and Battery
    2. Remove CMOS Battery(its pretty easy to remove)
    3. Remove Ram
    4. Hold Power Button for about 20 sec.
    5. Than Place everything back.
    6. Press the power button and see if it works. If it does, than try to Flash Different Mushos BIOS with lower Clocks.

    Hope that helps

    GUYS, READ THE WHOLE THREATH!

That problem is easily fixed just removing the battery from the laptop for around one minute, it often happens when one overclocks the processor and gets a crash, but that's no problem.

Reading the whole threath would probably take a week. :D

In fact, removing just a battery for a minute or so, that didnt helped with my problem. I had to remove CMOS Battery and Ram to completely reset the system.

Turn off, unplug AC, remove battery, hold power button for 30 seconds is same as removing CMOS battery.

Has a fix been found for the throttling issues on the cpu downclocking itself?
at 66c mine downclocks to 800mghz till the temp drops to >60. Obiously this kills the performance and causes massive stuttering etc any fix for this ?

Make sure you're using coolsense performance mode and not coolest mode. Coolest will downclock rather quickly.

I still think it may sometimes be a symptom of uneven pasting. If a single core is overheating it will trigger failsafes across the whole die.

I also believe it is more a symptom of how fast temperature is rising too instead of absolute temps.

    Hi folks!

Can anyone tell me if the Musho's BIOSes are compatible with all llano based dv6's? There is a DV6-6125 with 3410MX I could buy. But I would need to know if the BIOSes by Musho are compatible with this particular model. Help, please!

If it comes with a 6750M dedicated graphics card then yes, it has nothing to do with the iGPU

My first post in this forum. Used to get good tips around for my T61

So, just ordered a Newegg refurb, Read last 40-50page + first 10page.
conclusion i get once i get my DV6

    Software : k10stat,msi afterburner, newest driver? , Prime 95+ ? , mod bios

    Procedure:
using K10 and Msi get stable config, then flash bios accordingly?

    Did i miss anything important.

Oh, i am plugging in my old SSD , i think i am keeping the old window and just install new drivers.

Use K10Stat or Fusiontweaker to work with the CPU; there may be some Google-fu involved if you did not take notes when reading through this thread.

MSI Afterburner needs to have its INI file edited to enable OC, a one-time fix. Afterburner cannot accurately deal with the dGPU if you don't have a "High Performance"-set application running before the program is launched. MSI Afterburner can only OC with the HP standard drivers or 11.6a drivers.

You want to double-burn with Prime95 and Kombustor, monitoring with HWInfo64, to find any weak spots in your settings. (either heat itself or stability issues caused by heat) When flashing the BIOS, you may want a graphics speed one step below what you think is cool'n'stable, because some people have reported that Catalyst 11.10/11.11 isn't always stable at the same speeds reached with the stock drivers.

After that, you should uninstall and wipe just the video drivers. Then restart, install new Catalyst and CAP, restart again, test.

You will always need K10Stat or Fusiontweaker, the BIOS mod does not set CPU speeds. However the speed settings should be automatic and invisible when Windows starts up.

It's a bit of work, but if you do it gradually nothing should go seriously wrong.

HTWingnut may have some wisdom about the SSD migration. I've never done it yet, mostly because I'm used to the partitions being broken when copied due to stupid vendor-specific codes used by the BIOS; however this one sounds to be a little more friendly.

Sounds about right, just find where your stable at with factory video drivers using MSI afterburner, then download musho bios with close to those clocks, flash, then go ahead and update to latest drivers.

I like CoreTemp for monitoring temps, and it seems to poll the CPU frequencies more often than K10Stat.

I think the answer is: We don't know. I would like to say yes, but not sure if there is something unique or different about the European version. Maybe Musho could compare the two BIOS's but if he was going to go through that, better he just modify your BIOS. Do you have a link to your BIOS at HP's site?

Goto the hp website, find >YOUR< euro model etc and look at the bios for it. Compare that to the US one. Currently, its f.21 , sp54724.exe .

Aside from that, nobody knows like htwingnut said.
Try it and see! its easy enough to recover if it doesnt work.

I've only modded the 6750m's clock speed in the bios. If your model is using the same bios file as the American model then it will work just fine. So your best bet would be to check whether the bios files for the American and Italian model are the same on HP's site.

Since the apu and gpu share the same heatsink/pipe/fan/grill/whatever you wanna call it they share it, they will be relatively the same.
Most apps do not detect the temps correctly/see the 6750m, grab hwinfox64 and it shows all the temps correctly.

That being said, after extensive testing, the apu/gpu were always within 1c of each other.

    Note: APU = cpu+igp[6620]

I'm stumped on how to overclock the GPU on my dv6 6135dx

I just updated to the latest bios and I can't find any options about switchable graphics in the bios, and I got the latest drivers from HP

MSI Afterburner doesn't let me overclock at all and I can't figure out how to pick which graphics card to use.

These are the steps I got from looking back the last dozen or so pages, am I missing something

Is there any way to go over 780 on the processor clock speeds of the gpu in afterburner? If not, no biggie. Currently testing out 780/950. Takes a while to test a bunch of clocks out and get it to work with a certain cpu oc as well.

    Worth it though.

You need to have the catalyst drivers 11.6 and you need to edit the .cfg file for afterburner for it to work. Try driver sweeper to remove your ati drivers and then download and install the 11.6 ones. Then edit the .cfg file in afterburner as mentioned earlier in this thread.

Herp derp I had a letter stuck in the wrong place in the cfg.

Anyway it *appears* im using just my 6750 but I cant be sure, thanks for this because I had completely forgotten to recheck the cfg file (since id given everything else a once over)

Looks like with my current config I get 7032 in vantage and temps top at 83, is that good?

    Hey guys I have a question~

I'm currently running Skyrim at 1920x1080 with moderately high settings (high textures, medium everything else) and getting around 26-38 fps on avg. I am getting these frames using only these steps:

    1) k10stat (OC with 2.6 stable and 2.8 turbo)
    2) AMD 11.11 drivers, high performance mode (only dGPU) w/ Xfire turned off

I have not done any OC w/ the dGPU, no thermal repasting, no bios flashing, nothing else.

I am somewhat afraid of doing anything beyond overclocking my CPU. Curiosity has struck me however, and I am intrigued as to how much of a performance boost I would observe if I OC my dGPU and all the bios alterations. Can anybody give me a direct answer to this question? Thank you.

At that resolution at those CPU speeds you're most likely completely GPU bottlenecked, so a 10% GPU overclock (both memory as core speed) will give you a (close to) 10% increase in performance. 20% overclock (close to) 20% performance gain, etc

    Hi guys
Do you know if the battery for a 9 cell battery sticks out? or props the laptop up? I couldn't find any pictures of it.
I was hoping to get a 9 cell battery to be able to run my laptop for 8hours or so.

I just bought the HP Pavilion dv6-6135DX, and in the process of reading through this whole thread...Currently only on page 17. I am not very good with tech, so any help would be appreciated!

    Hello,

I'm thinking bout buying a HP dv6z qe direct from HP with a MX processor, 1080 screen and 9cell battery.

It says shipping estimate to be Dec 8.
I want to receive it by Dec 18 the latest.
Would that shipping estimate be reliable?

I know toward the beginning HP had some trouble with meeting demands and there were delays.

If I want to replace the optical drive w/ a hard drive would this be compatible?

    2nd Drive Caddy - HP dv5, dv6, dv6t, dv6z (add 2nd HDD or SSD) [OBHD-SATA12-SATA-BU] - $44.75 : NewmodeUS, Hard Drive Caddys for Notebooks

    Thanks for everything!

afaik, all llianos' use a 12.7mm 'caddy'. fyi, theres little difference between the 50 dollar caddy you linked to and their 10 dollar ebay/amazon counterparts. they both fit just fine, and the chief complaint is "flimsy" metal. Well, if you are that rough on your laptop that you will break an internal caddy, you'r doing it wrong.

Save some cash, get a cheapy =-)

fixed the BSOD. it was due to a BAD HARD DRIVE. i ended up buying the seagate barracuda 500gb hybrid drive for like $100 (BB employee disc.) installed it and success no more blue screening. Overall, it was an upgrade anyway just didnt want to spend another hundred on this laptop but meh had to do what i had to do.

Ok, now that i have resolved all the issues with the whole BSOD thing, i've been wondering if anyone here has a picture quality setup on this laptop? i cant get to find the right settings in terms of picture color/quality. I feel like on default it is way too bright so i turn down the gamma a bit. Anyone here have a calibrated setup to get the perfect color/picture on the display?

    640GB 7200RPM instead of 640GB 5400RPM
    15.6" Full HD HP Anti-glare LED (1920 x 1080) instead of 1366 x 768....
but 90day hp warranty, instead of 1year.
    Does this seem worth it?...

Does the upgrade from 5300m to 3510mx make much of a difference?
