Do you set it load at startup or you start it everytime?
-
Yes through task scheduler. Even there I have added the same parameters. But for a few things I had to close it and load it back again using the shortcut.
-
Thats what I meant, now I prefer just load the pstate with either one then let window/cool n quiet take care on control.
-
Hi. Recently I ordered the dv6z & the new Envy 17.
Since there is a 21-day return policy & no restocking fee I figured I would
try them both out & see which one I prefer.
This will be my first time owning a laptop & will be used for business/personal/casual gaming.
I received the dv6z and have used it for 2 days, so far I'm very satisfied with it. Runs cool, not much fan noise, pretty quick, beautiful anti-glare screen, & happy with the touchpad. I have not done any tweaking/overclocking, everything is still stock. The only game I tried was "Dead Rising 2".
What kind of gains in performance can expect with overclocking the cpu & graphics card?
In regards to the Envy 17, I have not received it yet. After reading the forum/posts it seems some people are very happy with it & some will be returing their new Envys.
In comparisons I wonder if the Envy is worth the $300.00 price difference, I know it has nice looking design, but performance wise when it comes to playing the latest games, I'm not sure if the Envy is that much better.
I guess I'll find out next week when I receive the Envy 17. Hopefully I will keep one of them or perhaps return them both for the dv6tqe or wait for something new next year.

The fan noise can easily be heard if you run it a little harder, and it can be loud.
And i notice they are in 2 different form factor 15 vs 17. When it arrive, It may become obvious which you want to keep. -
The Envy has the advantage in both CPU and GPU to the dv6. The 7690 is basically a 6750 running 175MHz faster, while the core i7 is quite a bit faster at stock clocks and still noticeably faster when you overclock the AMD A8.
That said, the A8 and 6750 are both close enough that in a game, it's only likely you'll see a few fps difference at the same settings, so I'd focus more on things like the build quality, screen quality, how you like the keyboard, etc and any other features. For most stuff you'll really never see a difference if you overclock the AMD A8 in the HP. -
is there an overclocking guide for the dv6z?
-
If he overclocks the GPU of the dv6 he can reach 770 Mhz core 950 Mhz mem, like me and the GPU difference would be null. as for the CPU yes, it's indeed better but I wonder if it can maintain it's operating frequency without throttling much.
-
Never mind it appears I answered my own question
-
Hey I feel like I just learned a lot about overclocking and would like to share it so either it can help, or someone can correct me.
In lamens terms,,,
All CPUs are unique.
I just gained a better understanding of this.
It is because of how they are manufactured. Almost like they are grown.
Regardless, this is why there is a failure rate in production of CPUs..
So AMD does their quick test and if anything isnt up to par,, instead of trashing a not quite great quad core,, they just restamp it a triple or dual core, or lower the voltage/spds,, until they get a supa safe result.
This is all because of the imperfections in production,, which im surprised cpus are made to deal with but they are,,
The lattice in each CPU is unique. Like a fingerprint. some better,, some worse. But anything can be overclocked,, just some more than others. If only we could restamp...... more bolder periods here............
Regardless,, I say all of this to mention everyones desire of an OC guide,, And noone ever has a perfect one because, it isnt possible, all cpus are unique. I bet AMD could individually stamp out all of their CPUs but the man hours and pricing would be overcomplicated..
But I think I have figured out an easy way to overclock, undervolt and give a guide for our AMD A8-3500m and such llano based APU's.
next post. -
For anyone looking to replace their optical drive with a hard drive, I bought this caddy: SATA 2nd HDD HARD DRIVE caddy for 12.7mm Universal CD/DVD-ROM Optical Bay | eBay
It was only 10 bucks. It looks identical to the ones advertised as "hp dv6" ones, even though it says it is for Dell XPS models (The HP DV6 one says it supports the dell xps LOL) it should work fine. Free shipping and seller will ship out within 1 day of payment (will probably take a week or 3 to get here though). Quite a good deal. -
Here is my guide.
not gonna do a full dv6 setup guide, because thats easy and plenty of info here..
but i assume the following.
Your computer works.
I do not care what bios you are using,
if youre drivers are not in order, the following will neither help nor hurt that, so you get that in line on your own.
ok, now that we have that settled.
install k10stat I am using version 1.54
so google k10stat154
also download the latest version of prime95 64 bit
I am using 26.6 build 3
google accordingly
download cpu-z and speedfan as well.
Someone correct me here but I believe the Graphics portion of this APU has its own voltages,, so it has nothing to do with the CPU voltages that you will adjust with K10stat.
So adding kombuster to the mix of prime has little effect. (dont mean to offend that guy)
I also say this because of my own experiences as I noticed no extra failures when I felt like I would have during testing.
K10stat is great for us beginners in overclocking. I have usually not OCd much because of the expensive motherboards I have owned that have billions of options,, but here,, heh, HP gave us the basics on the MB hacks.
Thats great tho, we learn heh.
Open K10stat and go to the second tab. P-State.
Just observe it.
all of the profiles are the same right now.
go ahead and uncheck the boost box for this profile and hit apply.
Real quick Im gonna go into how you do it,, then explain why and what for after.
In bottom right icon tray of windows, find K10Stat icon, right click and do the following.
Enable Profile 1
Enable Clock Control
Lock Pstate P0: 1500mhz
open cpu-z
open speedfan
Cpuz confirms your speed.
speedfan confirms temps and tells you the level of cpu usage in each individual core.. (so does task manager without the temps)
Open prime95
go to options
torture test
in place large ftts
and start the test
Now all cores are at 100% at default spds.
Ok two things here..
1. this is a quick guide and will become obvious soon and seemingly dangerous to some.. But I think it is safe. Trust me, Ill let you know if it isnt,, and Im not here ever trying to get my temps touching 80 when it comes to OCing.
2. I am a rusher when it comes to OCing,, do not do things faster than me as this is dangerous shtuff here k. When I say two minutes,, dont do it quicker.
What I do at this point is adjust the spd OR volt of P:O while locked in as stated above. (dont skip details dont want to repeat.) and prinme 95 running full blast.
I do this by clicking on the arial next to P:0
And then I would either mess with the FID and DID till I got the CPU SPEED I wanted OR
Mess with the CPU Voltage.
A safe way to overclock is to not mess with voltages by the way.
Then I let it sit for two minutes.. maybe throw open a bunch of programs in the meantime,, and I observe speedfan and the individual core utilization during this process.
(one core is usually worse than other by the way so perfect OCing is done with core control.)
If everything runs fine and the all cores stay at 100%,, then I adjust it another notch.
I do this until one of the cores quit. and then I quickly go back to two notches prior to the one that failed me. (just for safe and quick and easy right?)
On mine,, I am at 2300mhz at default voltage of 1.0750
It errored on 2400mhz after about 30 seconds, so I felt 100 mhz was enough safe back.
If you are uncomfortable,, run longer.
I have had like this for days with lots of BF3 and no probs.
this means without any possible damage to my cpu, I am getting over 50% more than what they stamped it at. What a waste!
I do this until I feel comfortable with the setting, and then I go back to the bottom right windows icon tray, and find the K10 icon and right click and lock pstate (select the next one.)
I then go back to the k10 stat window and adjust the next one accordingly.
Simple as pie.
If you dont understand it by reading this,, actually open the programs and this will get easy.
Keep in mind this is more dangerous when overclocking using voltages,, so just mess with speeds till comfortable.
But if you do mess with voltages, and speeds combined for super high overclock,, that is where you need to do those hour long tests,, as temperatures get even greater over time.
So,, dont adjust voltages over two notches if you really want to be safe but try it a little.
As I mentioned in my previous post,, Amd quick tests these things and if they pass, then they are set at default voltages and speeds for whatever they are stamped. But there is so much wiggle room.
That is what the profiles are for because they are so many different ways to overclock/undervolt.
Locking in the Pstates is all you.
Here are a few ways to apply your new knowledge.
1). A safe way to overclock is to test out by only adjust speeds. Raising the Cpu speeds but keeping voltages the same,, you can max out your cpu at safe temps by only raising the cpu speeds.
2.) A safe way to Undervolt,, is to keep the speeds the same and lower the volt one notch at a time. (two minutes always remember)
3. a safe way to underclock and undervolt is to lock in the lowest pstate at your newly acquired voltage acquired from step 2,, and lower the speed by 50mhz and then get a new lower voltage,, repeat until it fails and
remember, always go back to two steps before where you were when you are declaring a permanent setting.
4. Overclocking and Overvolting are done in the opposite fashion as the above.
5. Another cool profile is to combine the highs of your findings and lows of your findings into a new profile, so that you have max battery when not in use, and best performance while you are.
You can also adjust the amount of time it takes before the computer upclocks and downclocks the cpu Pstates, when they are not locked in, by adjusting the up and down %'s and up and down seconds.
What they mean is,, at what percentage utilization will the computer decide to upclock downlock,, and how long does it have to meet this level of utilization before that decision kicks in.
So you can have it set to quickly ramp up from idle underclocked udervolted usage,, and then slowly settle down to the idle part again.
Thats how I like it,, so its quick while Im here, even when I get distracted for a minute.
Ok everyone, I hope this helps.
Please correct me where im wrong its all good. -
Forgot to mention,, the longer you wait during tests,, the less you will crash..
if you think you are near limit,, run a longer test.
Everytime Prime fails,, and you readjust accordingly and move to next test,, dont forget to turn prime test back on.
Its kind of hard to OC graphics,, well, limited,, I manage to do this by using Mushos 770 970 bios, which works for me,, or by using the whitelist bios found elsewhere,, which I have been using lately and comes with 740 880 timings for 6750. (default is 600 800)
maybe here are two links??
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/45117524/bi...40_880_VGA-OC_UlkMenus_Fantrip_ByCamiloml.exe
that is whitelist one,, the one that HTWingnut uses Camo made just for him with fans maxed out.
http://www.mediafire.com/?60p7lbx47t0al
that is the link to the default bios with GPU OCd at different timings. 770 970 works for me.
but anyways if you are going to OC graphics,, do the CPU first. And dont forget,, you dont have to change voltages to overclock. -
Very interesting, I have decided to order this, it's $8.9 shipped to the US.
Also do you know if there is a cheap external enclosure that can be used to house the internal blu-ray drive? -
Like this? http://www.amazon.com/External-Enclosure-Connetor-Notebook-included/dp/B00274HQY0/ref=pd_sxp_grid_pt_0_1
Its usb 2.0 so i have no clue if it is fast enough for blu ray but should work fine.
Edit: Reviews say it even lets u play bluray dvds fine how about that! Lol -
that caddy and external drive enclosure look pretty cool.. Can you do a raid setup on this with 2 hdd? im gonna guess no since there wont be an option in the bios huh , that would have been sweet
-
drathaar: I would have gotten the 3500 and put that extra money into the battery, but otherwise your config makes sense to me. If the Envy has Intel switchable graphics set up it should have comparable battery when browsing at stock settings. But the dv6z can run undervolted with iGPU only, delivering better battery life overall and much better mobile gaming. Between the OC options and the Crossfire, game performance will be similar when plugged in. A big cash difference for a bigger screen, same in games, worse battery performance everywhere...but significantly faster number crunching.
-
hello guys!
need an opinion plz.
going for ssd 120 gb.i believe sata 3 is supported by dv6100sv if im not mistaken.
any suggestions?vertex 3 , corsair gt?
thank you -
Hey guys,
Looks like i have a bad laptop
Any idea what can cause the sleep function to act up? It is hardware because I've reinstalled windows with and without drivers and still no luck. I would still like to keep the laptop as i disable sleep and i can switch to hibernation when i close the laptop but this stinks. How hard would it be to get another one from tigerdirect, HP, or the crappy square trade one. Everything is working beautiful except for that ;( I even replaced the screen, repasted so i might aswell hold on i guess. . . .what do you guys think?so going to download bios and flash to see if that does anything.
-
It BSODS with BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER every time you shut down and go to sleep right? Go through each of your USB controller drivers in safe mode, and remove them in device manager one by one. For me one of them caused to BSOD, so I disabled it.
Today's the day I add my SSD and upgrade to 4GB of ram
Replacing my one 2GB stick with a 4GB stick of G.Skill DDR3 1333, its on sale for $14.99 at canada computers
-
It is one of my usb 2.0 controllers. I uninstalled the 3.0 and it still happen. Is there a difference between disabling it in windows regular start up vs safe mode? I uninstalled all 2.0 but they auto reinstall.
-
You can disable auto driver installation in windows. I think I did something like this : How To Disable Automatic Driver Installation In Windows 7 / Vista
Also, make sure all your usb 2.0 devices are unplugged. including mice. -
So the difference between the 3500 & 3530 is not worth the extra $50.00?
Only reason I did this was to get the total price to $1,150.00 so I could use the coupon to save $400.00.
I really like the 1920X1080 anti-glare screen on the dv6z. The Envy has the radiance screen & it's glossy. I've never used glossy screens before this might make me regret ordering the Envy.
Thanks again for all the replies. -
samsung/intel/crucial( no particular order ) if you can afford $1.5/GB SATA3
samsung(a little more)/kingston/intel/ocz $1/GB SATA 2
and check the ssd sub forum in NBR -
Applied still no luck. Hopefully the problems are the usb 2.0 ports. If anything i connected the ribbon cable wrong which i don't think so since i have never f**ked up on any cable, but anything is possible. If worst comes to worst; I can just unplug the ribon cable and il be just fine with 2 3.0 usb ports
-
Just got my ADATA S510 120GB SATA 3 for 129.99. Going to do a fresh windows install and then report back with results
-
I just got my laptop, and I'm loving it!
My question is, how do I install the latest AMD video drivers, while maintaining x-fire and graphics switching? Do I have to uninstall some of the stock drivers or just install the AMD ones over the top of whats on there now? -
I've been reading here for sometime, so it's about time I post something
I'm running the A8-3530MX OC'd @ P0 2.4Ghz - 1.05v ~ B0 3Ghz - 1.3v
The 6750m is OC'd @ 770/880Mhz - Thanks to Musho!
I haven't messed with the B0 much. I've had P0 at 2.8Ghz - 1.225v and it wouldn't lockup on Crysis 2. But the temperature was over 80°C and that's just 5 minutes of playing.
So I applied new thermal paste, AS5.
Also modded the bottom of the laptop. I used a hole saw of the same diameter as the fan. Because there was that metal plate used for the screen in the way, I had to make sure to drill slowly and not press too hard. This mod in this location lowers temps a max of 10°C with the help of the new paste.
Before, BF3 would hit 89-93°C and eventually drop down. Now it's around 79-80ish, so a big improvement.
At idle, my temps for CPU/GPU/HDD is around 32/32/30°C at 800Mhz - 0.912v
I thought that 80ish was still too hot while gaming when playing for hours, so I bought a cooler. I've had so many in the past and they all seem to blow rather than draw air down. Sure you can reverse the fan but I shouldn't have to. So I found a really good one made by Macally, it's the bamboo one with 2 fans. They draw air down and have adjustable legs to pivot stand at around a 35° angle.
Using that particular cooler lowered temps another 5-7°C so now I'm around mid 70's during gaming.
I know there is more room to OC, but I prefer comfortable temps. Will post more pictures if requested.
Right now I'm playing Skyrim with the 12.1's and averaging 40fps @ 1080p on High Settings. On occasion it will dip down to mid 30's. Took a screenshot using Fraps.
Also running dual monitors. Had to shave off the VGA screw sides because it interfered with the HDMI connector. Then I used heat shrink around the newly shaven connector so it looks more presentable. Also equipped with 8GB Ram and a million customizations to the OS.
What really pisses me off about the switchable graphics is the OpenGL support - none. At least not for Llano users, Intel got their fix
.
Can't run DOOM3 with the Sikkmod + wulfen + HRT on the 6620G and make 10FPS! 1080p on Ultra. I thought I was getting somewhere when I disabled Catalyst A.I. using the ACE way, so that the mods look right with HDR on, no white screen, but again.. iGPU only.
Also, like to point out, when I OC'd the dGPU, crossfire doesn't seem to hiccup like it used to. The occasional stutter has turned into butter smooth movement. I suppose the 170Mhz core jump is my systems sweet spot.
Awesome support here. There is still hope! haha...
-
If you haven't installed a crap load of versions, the latest catalyst can be installed over top fine. You can confirm it by checking the CCC > information > software screen. Restart isn't required to complete installation.
The configure switchable graphics menu allows "High Performance" or "Power Saving" modes. With dual graphics enabled and high performance mode used, it will Xfire (with game support). For iGPU select power saving mode and for dGPU, you disable dual graphics support paired with high performance mode. Although I think now with dual graphics enabled and high performance mode selected, it'll use dGPU anyway.
You can confirm it being selected by using AMD System Monitor for utilization. -
That helps, thank you very much!

CK57,
If you could skip the Blue Ray...it'd be quite a bit cheaper, and perhaps sell the HDD on e-Bay, as I did for 72.99. Personally, I'll never use the Blue Ray in mine...maybe I should trade down? I'll check and see if it's profitable. The 2gb memory stick(Nanya), I let it sit on e-bay for 30 days @ 11.99 shipped. No luck.
I have exactly $540 into mine in my sig, just waiting on my Intel rebate.
Yes, I'm a tightwad...and proud of it. I'd probably admit to being a minimalist as well...
LC
P.S. I currently have my notebook hooked up to one of my P2412's through HDMI while waiting on an RMA from Intel that should be here tomorrow. IMO, the whole thing runs awesome from the 24" monitor. I haven't had the opportunity to see how well it will game on this except COD4(I keep it loaded all the time). Runs superb. I will mention, there was a 15% off coupon for the Dell Outlet center floating around a couple of weeks ago and the Dell 24"'s we're going in/out of stock. If a person watches, they can get these new 2412's for $163. Might take awhile of watching, but well worth the wait. I have used both the 11 series as well as the P2412's. They rock. -
Are you guys SURE we have a main SATA 3 connector? I am only getting 202 write and 141 read from my new Adata S510. Use HWINFO benchmark or AS SSD to check your speeds : Alex Intelligent Software - Downloads
My HWINFO64 says SATA 3 but I am pretty sure that this is from the controller on the DRIVE itself. I am clearly getting SATA 2 speeds.
I swear I start to regret buying the cheaper model of this laptop more and more every day.... -
LOL! Hey, I'm a tightwad too!
I'm a long-time eBayer and the trick to getting rid of something you don't need at the best price is actually to list it for 99 cents plus free shipping.
The psychology behind it is that people invest @ the low start price, and then when more than one person is interested, the price usually goes up close to the level of retail (and sometimes beyond) because they just want to win it regardless. So far, I haven't had a no-sell yet with that approach.
When you consider that the cost of the dv6-6135dx refurb is $500 (if you could still get one) plus the hard drive and a DIY screen upgrade (which is going to be hard to do now that there's a wait on cables), you're looking at a total of $800, and you don't get the deluxe A8 processor, 9 cell battery, or bluetooth.
Consequently, what you get out of the deal at that point is worth it...
But...you can always sell the Blu-ray drive and hard drive too, if you don't want the spare storage or the ability to play Blu-Ray disks. (I do, because my friends have a ton of them I can borrow, and, hey, the ripped file has to go somewhere). So, you should be able to sell both for what you paid for the SSD, and that knocks you back down to the $700 purchase price of the dv6z.
(Buy the enclosure for the Blu-ray and you might be able more than recoup the cost of the enclosure...because the external drive is more attractive and more likely to sell at a better price.)
I'm actually going to need a second laptop, and I am considering it! (On the road, I use one portable laptop for business, and the other as a stationary HTPC in the hotel.) But I have to get rid of this behemoth of a HDX18T first. It weighs more than two of these dv6's. -
Hi, time to welcome the newest owner of a dv6z quad edition!
I just have one question about overclocking and undervolting. My system has the A8-3530MX with the Radeon 6750M (and 8GB of RAM, if that matters) I just upgraded from an old acer with a pentium dual-core and a GMA 4500M (not HD) so I'm pretty new to the world of overclocking, especially with AMD hardware. A friend of mine who has this laptop suggested that I use MSI Afternurner (or ATI Tray Tools) to set the Core clock to 800, and the memory clock to 900, and undervolt to .955V. Would this be a good idea? I usually trust him, but I just want to get a solid conformation from others who really know what they're doing. I plan on using the default profile for moderate and school use, but I want an extra push of power for gaming. Also, would this cause issues with crossfire? Are there any other consequences I should know about? I know I'm asking a ton of questions, but I just want to be absolutely sure I won't wreck my computer while trying for a few extra fps in battlefield 3, as the rest of my life is on this thing. (also, searching through 429 pages looking for a similar answer doesn't seem like a very effective use of time, haha) Thanks a lot for the help! -
There is alot of tricks to do to get a SATA3 speed, check out the SSD brand forum and SSD forum here. But sequential speed dont have much to do with RL usuage. Some even say none of the bench mean anything in RL use.(Popular belief is random 4k read/write)
Post a SS of your bench on those forum and people will guide you.
I have a low end SATA3 speed on my c300 atm. -
I think your friend is refering to the mac version, most of our card cant hit 800 core. ( We have like 1 guy in 400s page)
I tried ATI tray tool, iirc, It cant detect the dual graphic so it doesnt work. -
Well if you run HWinfo and do a benchmark of your SSD, what speeds do you get? If I was getting over SATA 2 speeds I would agree with you, but my highest result was 275mb, which is the cap for the SATA 2. People with the drive in other comps are getting 500-550 speeds
-
322/65 read/write
those sound like raid0 speed?
edit: i just checked they say max is 500ish so 500+ is possible w/o raid. Probably try get latest SATA driver and do the tricks.(write cache on and other I cant remember)
Just notice Adata dont have a official forum so I guess your best bet is post in NBR, worst is RMA and try a new one. -
Well thats SATA 3 for sure... ur getting WELL over what I am. My fear is that im running the A60m FCH chipset and cheaper motherboard and you are running the A70m FCH. Perhaps my motherboard is gimped....

oh alright. I know he has this laptop, but knowing him, he might've just read that off from some website, lol. So would an overclock be worth it if it won't get that high? If so, are there any kind of steps I have to take to test how high it can go? (as simple as possible, this is my first laptop that can actually run games from this decade, so I'm a total newbie). I just want it to use its full potential.

dv6-6135dx Sabine chipset (Hudson M3) supports SATA III, but it looks like HP either didn't see fit to turn it on and/or used the wrong connector. (I have no way to tell without ripping this thing up, and am not in the mood.)
I tested mine and am getting high SATA II speeds (250-275) on my OCZ Agility 3 SATA III drive. Should be twice that.
I've got a question in the HP forum, and am waiting to hear an answer. -
I am hoping it is just a BIOS issue. I was reading a Sony Viao forum and they lost SATA 3 support with a BIOS update. If this is the case we could probably get a custom BIOS with SATA 3 unlocked.
I tried the advanced menu hacked BIOS, and was able to set the SSD to force AHCI, but it did not make a speed difference. -
The advanced bios AHCI doesnt save for me, go back and check the option.
I would say try to optimize it setting wise(window, driver, etc) first before judging if it is not SATA3. -
I already went through this entire setup after I had the drive up and running : The SSD Review SSD Optimization Guide
I think that is just about every optimization you can make lol -
drathaar: The 3530MX is a solid chip, but with so many 6135dx owners reporting in....their overclocking potentials are quite similar. 1.5 vs 1.9 is more significant than 2.2 vs 2.4, and that's a fuzzy line anyway. Some people are lucky/crazy/aggressive, set their 3500's up to 2.6GHz P0. So I'd as soon have put that into the heavy-duty 6 cell. Or maybe upgrade all the way to 9 cell.
yarez: K10Stat has the CPU overclocking tools, Afterburner has the GPU overclocking tools. For checking clocks and temperatures, the relevant programs are AMD System Monitor, HWinfo64, Afterburner. For stressing, Afterburner includes a GPU tool called Kombustor. You want to run it in DX11 mode from the Start menu. CPU stressors include Intelburn and Prime95. Get your Prime95 build direct from the source, Free Software - GIMPS . If you really are worried about killing the GPU, do not try to overclock it beyond 6770M speeds (725 core / 800 mem). This will not deliver the maximum POSSIBLE performance, but it avoids any risk of heat damage to the VRAM (no direct cooling on memory chips and we can't monitor their temperatures) and it seems most 6750's can safely run at 6770 core speed. Modest bump, minimal risk.
rmacgowa: Your issue is something I definitely have to keep in mind. Been considering SSDs but would probably go with price/capacity over pure speed. If some models have firmware issues with the higher speed, that will definitely reinforce my preferences. -
Ok, I got a problem.
I keep trying to install the AMD drivers over the HP ones, but apparently to no avail. Both the 6620 and 6750 are both reporting back that they are still on driver model 8.83 where the newest one is 8.92 I believe.
Also, when I play Crysis 2 on Gamer mode I'm only getting 13-17 fps on high performance mode, but I thought that this lappy could pull an easy 40 fps at least on Gamer mode...
Am I doing something wrong?... I really believe the 6750 can do well over 17 fps by itself, not to mention crossfire.
Any help appricated, since I just got this computer today I need all the help I can get I guess lol, thanks. -
I get around average 26fps on Extreme settings @ 1440x900 Res. on Crysis2
I can get 21fps at 1080p on Very High settings, but it dips into the 15's on heavy scenes.
I think the best you can get is around 30fps and average it on high settings (which is the first level) at 1440x900.
To get 40fps would require some ini modifications. The shadows bring the 6750m to its knees quick.
If you are using Windows 7 (which you probably are) you have to run the installs as an Administrator. Otherwise, when you go to install, it'll just roll back what it just did at the end of the "installation."
And driver package is 8.93.10 -
CK57,
Thanks for the tips on the 99 cent auction. I'll give it a shot. If you kept your spare hard drive when you installed the ssd, I have a spare body for it to fit into...for 4 bills. It'll be hitting E-Bay next.
[H]eat,

Thanks, LC, but I already ordered a caddy and enclosure from Amazon.
With eBay, bear in mind that there's no guarantee this approach will get what the item is worth, but I only use it to get rid of stuff that I will never use, just takes up space, and none of my friends want. I think maybe only one time, however, did I ever lose money on the sale when all I got was .99 and had to fork up the rest for free shipping. In the long run, though, I'm far ahead with this approach, as opposed to those who list items for what they want and don't get it.
I'm still debating as to whether to buy another laptop, build my own travel mini-HTPC (around $300 if you know how and have some crucial spare parts), or just wait for Trinity (which I am leaning towards). However, I HAVE to get rid of some surplus soon (really good stuff), because I'm paying to store it, and with life on the road projected for the next three years, I am unlikely to use it. If I can get close to what it's worth, it'll pay for this laptop and the next!
Oh, right...I'm off-track and this thread's about dv6-6xxx ownership...well...ummm...How's YOUR DV6?
