i want to know too. But i think HP is more thinner and more light.
On some review I saw that there was TV Tunner on it. But whne i do the configuration I dont see any option for TV tunner. How to have it ?
mnp2005 : What is the date of delivery ? and how much you paid ? is the coupon of -500 USD worked for you ?
Thanks Dabman for the link of pic it look quite nice![]()
-
@netuser
It turned out to be $1,910.81 after tax ($145) and my student discount. The 500$ coupon would not work either
On the bright side, the shipping date is july 31, i'm really excited about it. I plan on putting xp on it, as long as i can find all the drivers. As of now, I dont think hp has posted any of them except one for some stupid buttons on the keyboard. Anyways, ill keep you guys updated. When i get it i'll try to post some pics and tell you how the xp installation goes. Im thinking of using this program called driver detective, but i'm not sure if it will be able to locate them all...we'll see -
Will be nice if you make a review when you get it
I tested alos and the coupon "NB4513" dosent workReally as the price is too high without coupon.
-
i never made a review before, haha
i just joined to complain about the dv5t not having the geforce 9600, but i'll give it a shot -
http://reviews.infosyncworld.com/la...=&name3=Dell+Studio+17&name4=&compare=Compare
Just to start, the HP has the new Monevina processors, thus faster FSB and L2 cache. Also better graphics. Hard drive is the same, the only real advantage I see for dell is the higher resolution screen. It looks more bulky and has had reviews that stress the unstylish nature of the laptop. Read some reviews and google both. Hope this helps. -
I have a digital boner for this laptop but why the confusion on the tv tuner business. HP's website says "No TV tuner with remote" I mean wtf. How are we supposed to read this? It has no tv tuner and no remote or what? And reviews around the web say it has a tv tuner. Anyone have the actual laptop ordered from HP and is watching TV on this thing? The fact that this has all the options I would want plus it supports a docking station just seals the deal for me. It would be nice to know if we need to get a seperate tv tuner and IR remote or if it is included out the box though
-
yes it is quite confusing
and why cant we use the coupon ? :S normaly coupon is for all HP above 1300. It will be a good deal if they let us use the coupon.
It is really sad that Dell is so Thick otherwise i would have took Dell without problem. -
but if you do get some, let us know.
i can confirm the laptop does come with a remote control
-
Has anyone tried to call them directly and order??
Maybe we can haggle the price down...
Im deciding between the dv7t and the gateway p-173XL
wat do you guys think? -
http://www.drivershq.com/
Apparently it scans ur computer, finds the drivers, and installs them. Anyone have experience with software like this? Is there anything out there thats better? There's no way i'm leaving vista on my new dv7. no way. -
I'm definitely getting a DV7T, but not until the built-in TV tuner becomes available. -
-
-
-
Well, since my dv9500t pavillion broke, and they were unnable to fix it i got a dv7t as my replacement computer which im currently waiting on. So when i get it ill try to keep you guys informed but what disturbs me the most is the conflicting information regarding the tv tuner, since there wasnt even the option to get an external TV tuner.
So now comes the other question, any current owners of this computer whom wants to make a review? or is that a task i should try to do, if you guys would want it that is?
//Icenova :GEEK: -
I just got an update today on the status of my order! It says: "Order dropped to factory" now instead of "processing". Anyone have any idea how long this takes? Do you think it wont ship out until the july 31st deadline they gave me?
-
Hey guys, i'm getting close to ordering my dv7t finally!!! I think I have desided what to do about the TV Tuner Contoversy. And whoever gets their dv7 first please let us know about the so called "built in" tv tuner. My plan is to buy the laptop, and request a built in tuner, not the expresscard. when I get it I will try the MCX coaxial to see if there is in fact a tv tuner behind it. If it doesn't work I'm going to buy this: http://www.aver.com/mpd/hybrid_nanoexpress.html
I think it is the best card out there and the reviews on newegg look great. What do you guys think? -
Anways, that's just my opinion...good luck on your decision, hopefully you'll be joining me and the rest of the dv7 owners soon -
Status update: Order in production
(Estimated to ship on July 31, 2008) -
TV Tuner now available
-
Finally HP got their head on strait. But $100, I dont know. I am thinking about this one from Newegg:
http://www.aver.com/mpd/hybrid_nanoexpress.html
It costs the same with shipping and tax, but the reviews are good. Hopefully the quality of the integrated tuner will be good. DO you think it comes with an attena? I need this tuner because the laptop will double as a tv in my dorm room. -
i am trying to source some 'internal' drivers for Xp .. Vista isnt my preffered choice
-
do you think the expresscard would be better?
-
so is the tv tuner built into the laptop or is it an express card tv tuner? and does the remote slide into the express card slot like the dv9700 laptops did? and is the tuner a analog/digital tuner? Anyone know the exact details on the tv tuner and remote situation with this beast?
-
ooawilliams - from the dv7t page it list the tuner as an "HP Integrated HDTV Hybrid Tuner". So my guess would be integrated
On the remote...?? but looking at the pictures it very well could fit in the express card slot. I'll know once mine shows up! -

Has anyone gotten one of these yet?
Is this the full Centrino 2 chipset with WiMax or just the Montevina CPU? -
100 USD for a TV tuner :S are they paying our face.
-
How long do you guys think it will be before the price on these goes down? I don't plan on ordering until August 20th and by then I won't really care what the price is, but I wouldn't mind if they lowered it lol.

I have raised the matter internally, and i am sure i can come up with something.

Man, is anyone actually going to keep Vista on this Laptop? I see absolutely no reason to be bogged down buy its bloatness - certainly not on a laptop! If you guys find reliable WinXP drivers/installations, please post them here. -
I've been using Vista Home Premium since it went RTM on a Dell i9300 (1.6Ghz Pentium M, 2GB DDR2, 80GB HDD, and a GF6800) bought in '04 and it runs just as if not faster than when I had XP/MCE installed on there. The only issue I've had with Vista was not a MS issue at all. It was from Nvidia having their heads up their *ss with crappy drivers for the first 6mo and that spurred many a complaint about Vista (apparently ATI didn't have these issues
)
So, I'm curious where's all this disdain for Vista is coming from as its been a solid OS for all of my systems (minus my WHS obviously)? So could any of you fellow forum dwellers specifically define your show-stoppers with Vista? Thank you.
Looking forward to Vista on my dv7

HTC Touch WinMo 6.1 -
I agree, just formatted a dual boot XP Vista and Vista seems to run faster.
-
Is it x64 Vista?
-
Vista Vs. XP
and as the article shows, alot of software, the kind of software i want to use just wont work on Vista.
XP is easly the best O/S Microsoft ever made, Vista is second worse, next to Windows ME
-
I wouldn't be surprised if vista runs slower than XP. Of course, that doesn't really MEAN anything at all. Each newer version of windows has had higher minimum and recommended requirements than the previous version (since 95 at least). It's the way the world works, not a problem with Vista.
Also, that Tom's Hardware article is a year and a half old.
I'll be ordering my dv7t tomorrow (today) now that the TV-Tuner's finally available. -
but the fact still stands.
-
Yeah, but now without any support aside from your pure force of will.
Less a fact, and more the ravings of a guy who just doesn't like change.
-
but the bottom line is, alot of the software i want to use, just wont run in Vista

How reliable and robust are these HP models usually? I need this thing to keep on trucking for 3-4 years.
The local importers don't have this model yet and I was offered a dv9940ej instead. It has an older CPU (T8300) and memory and a ****tier GeForce (8400M GS). Plus the 3945 wireless card (no N).
How does it compare with this model?
Seems to be a bit cheaper, at least.Attached Files:

Hey guys, can you help me locate the exact dimensions of the dv7? I was looking around and found different specs. I'm thinking about buying the Zalman NC2000 notebook cooler, and need to know if the vents in the cooler and laptop are positioned correctally. Thanks.

a few questions that i think a lot of people would benefit from...does anybody know anything about overclocking the 9600M GT?? i was wondering if it would even be worth trying. i would of course by an exterior cooling device first(what are some good cooling accessories that would fit the dv7t and really keep it cool??). i ask because i have read that the 9700M GT is just a faster clocked 9600M GT and uses a lot more wattage. i was just wondering if i might be able to overclock the 9600 to 9700M GT performance. this might help me pump out some more fps when i try and play crysis ()on this new machine. any thoughts/ideas?? also has anyone gotten their dv7t in yet?? i think many others on this forum including myself would greatly appreciate a review by someone that has gotten theirs in. thank you and i hope everyone enjoys their new HP DV7t!!

A sample of programs I use with Vista and have no problems - Adobe PS CS3, Acrobat Pro 8, Elements 6; Ulead VS11, Office '07 Pro, DVDshrink / DVDdecryptor, Nikon Capture...
I hear of all these bugs/issues and haven't had any across my 3 machines/software and numerous builds for friends/family. I'm getting the feeling that all this is "I know someone who knows of someone's friend who had an issue with Vista" or "you are the lucky random sample where it just won't work for you".
TouchdownTexas18 - I ordered mine on the 21st with a ship date of 2 August...wonder what the disparity between the ship dates are?
