    1. The danger zone is around 100C and above. That's where the computer will shut down to save itself. That said, the cooler it is, the longer it will live.

    2. It will run about 10C warmer in a room where it is 30C than in a room where it is 20C.

65-75C seems too much unless you are in hot country.
Clean it is the first step.

Bullit - Yes I already did some cleaning. Using compressed air into the vents. I have even try disassembling it. Didn't get so far, I was aiming to open the main fan and clean the vents from inside, but these HPs are very complicated in my humble experience.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Actually I live in Ecuador, which sometimes can get very hot. Usually it is always 30 C around here. Plus I have always open a bunch of program and using always half of my 6Gbs of ram.

Anyways, besides using a Zalman NC 2000, I put one of those usb ThermalTake fans on the back to help suck hot air. Don't know if that was wise, but at least in the SpeedFan graphs, the temps have been reduced by 5 C.

I wanted to updgrade the ram on my dv7t quad and was wondering if there are any specifics that I need to know before buying anything (speed, etc)? I know that it's ddr3 sodimm, but I can't find much information online and am looking to use the fastest 4gb x2 memory I can get for this machine.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I know this thread might be long dead since this model is old. But for those who still have it, has anyone upgrade to a current SSD? I want to add an Intel 510 SSD, which would be an awesome upgrade, but I want to be sure it works for this laptop.

I have a dv7t with 8 gb. The HP wireless assistant does not seem to be working. Whenever I try to run it, it just does not come up. Also the blue wireless indicator does not show up now. It goes from amber to blank. My wireless/bluetooth are working fine. I re installed "HP Wireless assistant", but still the same issue persists.
Please let me know if this is an issue.

    Thanks
    PHK.
