I have hit the button on the moonlight version, pretty excited hope I made the right choice so many laptops out there to choose from....

I hope the graphics card is ok, im no hardcore gamer but do enjoy the odd FPS and RTS.

Is everyone pleased with their purchase ? I felt this size was perfect and the 18.4 was abit over kill. It was a trade off between the dv7 and Acer 8940g.

I just recieved my new unit and the stupid keyboard is the same way as the other one. Why can't HP make a quality unit when they charge close to $1000 for it!

Dammit. Now I have to deal with customer service yet again tomorrow.

Does anyone know of a fix for the rattling problem?

Just registered to ask few questions while waiting my dv7t quad. Bad it still say "Order in production (Estimated to ship on December 9, 2009)". Hope they will ship it today.

The main question I have is about 2nd hdd bay. How it is organized and do I really have to buy any additional connectors and so on? What do I really need in order to plug my 500gb sata 2.5'' drive? Thanks in advance and hope I didn't miss this question already answered somewhere on the pages.

I also have a Dec 9 ship date and the machine is still "in production." I wonder how long the delay will be.

 

I am in the same boat as you guys. Mine is Estimated to Ship on the 9th as well, and is still in production.

 

Has anyone who has a Dec 9 estimated ship date actually shipped? Is there anyway to upgrade from the free shipping to the two day or is it to late? I'm afraid I will be out of town for the holidays to receive it.

I too have a 9th ship date with no other info.

 

When i uninstall the video driver from the device manager after rebooting windows automatically installs the one which was before.Tried to reboot with internet turned off but it doesn't help.How to stop it from restoring the old driver?

 

when you uninstall it, are you installing the nvidia driver/application that is available on the hp website? this will force the old drive to be removed, assuming that driver is older than the nvidia version.

 

There's a cheaper option on page 21

 

I was also a December 9th Estimated Ship date... After reloading the order status page at least hourly for the past week, I just received this email:

Man you are lucky. My order is delayed to 12/18/2009. And i am really mad about it too.

 

Guys, as far as shipping goes, I wouldn't get too excited. I ordered on 11/25 (Wed before Black Friday), with estimated ship date of 12/3. On 12/4, that got delayed 2 days - the emailed I received was exactly like wfallon's. However, there was another delay email, this time from [email protected] on 12/8 (with a 10% refund offer), until 12/18, which was pretty ridiculous, I felt, so I cancelled. They quoted "product constraint of one or more components in your custom PC" (I ordered a standard Moonlight white model with bluray, fingerprint and bluetooth), but this was ridiculous as when I went on shopping.hp.com that same day and make a fake order for my specs, the ship date for a brand new order was 12/17, i.e. before my revised date. Makes me think something dodgy is going on in HP's ship-date system. Hopefully you guys will be more lucky than me but I wouldn't be surprised if you get delayed again.

edit: also, HP coupon didn't work for me - it seemed to be fine, but when I pressed submit order, it wouldn't work.

My email says the 18th instead of the 9th. Got the 50$ store credit, but is there anything I want? Last store credit I got on 11/30, and it said it was valid only till 11/38/2009 !

Still, I am with Bill on being really excited to get this machine.

I just got the same email. My 12/9 delivery is rescheduled for 12/18, and I'm definitely not happy about that. I haven't decided what to do yet. I had ordered and received the Targus 18" case and wanted to see how well the dv7t fit and how much room remained for accessories, etc. I am skeptical that it is the best solution for me, so may return the case anyway.

I ordered system with bluetooth, modem, 6GB RAM, and 500 GB hard drive.

Does the store coupon come in a separate email? I have not received that yet.

Mine also got delayed until the 18th. I called and chewed them out, got 50 dollars off my order credited back to my card when my item ships, and they explained that all orders that are delayed get upgraded to 2 day delivery.

 

HP already have $20 and $15 off coupons meaning that the new coupon HP is going to give us has extra $30 to $35 off. I wonder if it worth the wait. I am thinking on canceling my order and then get a dv6t from ebay with pretty much the same specs except:
-15" instead of 17" (smaller laptop and maybe weight less)
-Just DVD/CD burner no Blu-ray rom
-6 Lithium battery instead of 8 (but will be using the outlet most of the times)

-And another thing is that most delivery companies don't work on Sunday so if they deliver it on the 18th it won't on the 20th (Sunday) but very likely on the 21th (Monday).

 

Guys I know most of you are currently experiencing delays. Just try and hang in there, I know its hard not to cancel. The DV7t is an amazing computer and it will not disappoint you I guarantee it. Hopefully everyone can have there PC by Christmas Eve at the latest.

 

Hello there fellow DV7 owners (or would be owners)!! I just got the dreaded e-mail telling me that my laptop will be delayed until the 18th. I really don't see anything that could entice me to cancel my order considering the price to performance ratio that this particular laptop offers. Either that or I am not just searching hard enough. Anyway, I think I will wait for my order to arrive and cross my fingers that there will be no more delays ahead.

Guys, as an alternative, I think Amazon have the pre-built dv7-3080us model (with core i7) in stock for $1299 or so at the moment (with $50 HP cashback rebate), which is cheaper than HP's offering, especially as it's w/o tax.

Also, before I cancelled, I managed to get an extra $70 off by calling and whinging, and I also got 10% off (without asking for it) in my second delay email, maybe you guys could try asking for the same.

Finally, I was also told that delayed orders get automatically upgraded to 2 business day shipping.

It is my company order and our office manager is cancelled it. The latest mail I have:

Gonna check on who authorize this cancellation and what they plan to do.
I'm really mad about it and hope they will ship it sooner otherwise I'll obligate my company to buy alienware. I can not see any options with i7 comparable by the price TT

 

Ok, I somewhat reluctantly pulled the plug on mine after the delay letter regarding pushing it to 12/18. Decided to go with cwangsas 's suggestion that Amazon had it available preconfigured. Paying about $100 more, but getting more ram, and more harddrive and skipping the tv tuner which I didn't anticipate using anyway. The best part of it is that I will have it tomorrow with Saturday delivery! Only 7 bucks more with amazon prime! Maybe use HP's $50 store credit for the tuner....maybe not! Here is hoping for a good keyboard!

 

Just got an email today saying mine shipped on today as the updated ship date claimed (12/11). Very relieved... It mentioned nothing about 2-day shipping though on the order shipment confirmation - I may call to complain about the delay to see what they can do, if anything. Good luck to the rest of you!

How is the sound quality for this notebook?
Ive got a DV6 and it isnt all that.. speakers lack bass.
I was wondering if your subwoofer adds any experience?

 

Yeah, I got an email today saying that mine had shipped with a tracking # (w/ no actual fedex info yet). My order page never updated the est. ship date except to add the tracking # once I got the email. Gave hp a call today but I was told there was nothing they could do about the std. 5-7 day shipping since it already shipped. From what I understand the upgrade to 2 day wouldn't make a huge difference anyhow since it has to get to Tennessee anyways before getting shipped to its destination (RI for me) ?

 

When did you order yours? i ordered mine on black Friday, 27th and they haven't sent my an email or updated my status for the shipment

 

The sound is good. No distortion and you can have it pretty loud. I think the subwoofer definitely makes it stronger.

 

It had the best sound I ever heard from a laptop. Way better than the HDX 16t.

I ordered mine also Black Friday, email response said ship date Dec. 9. On Dec 10th, received email with new ship date, Dec 18th, and a $50.00 gift certificate to be mailed for the delay. I called this am, quick response, very nice person, confirmed Dec. 18th ship date and confirmed $50.00 gift certificate has been mailed.

 

Yeah i guess, they sent me an email two days ago regarding a $50 coupon good for anything, but* in that e-mail they never regarded anything about the delay. I got an email this morning it says...

The difference seem to be the Infinity

In that comparison his pictures make the infinity look like crap seriously. It looks just as good or if not better as the brightview IMO.

My Dec 9th ship date was also delayed to Dec 18th. I just called the customer service number that was in the delay notification email to make sure my order would be upgraded to 2-day shipping, and he said it would, but he also said the ship date is now the 16th, so that might be good news for all of us. Might get here in time for Xmas after all.

On a side note, I tried to see if I could order the 2nd hard drive caddy with the $50 coupon, but that was a no go. Was worth a shot though. Would have been 35cents if it worked.

 

Got the email mine shipped out ... 5-7 business days. REALLY looking forward to getting this!!
