I checked my order status today and it is showing "in production estimated to ship 4-15" (I ordered on 3-31).

That stinks that orders are being pushed back, though I can understand if it is an issue with Japanese parts.

I read in the 6XXX thread that some guy called HP and spoke to someone other than a rep that told him they were out of the sandy bridge processors. Is this true? Maybe not. It very well could be that Intel can't keep up with the demand for the B3 chipset but all we have are guesses.

is the hp dv7t quad edition made well? Is it reliable? I feel like when I search google for answers everyone says HP sucks. Is this specific laptop an exception? Thanks

The better question is, if you order one, will it ship before June?

    Still waiting on mine.

HP's Customer Service sucks, so here's hoping there are no problems with the laptop if I ever receive it.

Edit: 4 people outside of Customer Service (including US Support and their Facebook liaison) are searching for my order and not one of them can tell me why it hasn't shipped.

Edit 2: on 4-18 I received a notice that certain components for my laptop were out of stock and they had no idea when they would be in stock.

I ordered a DV7T Quad Edition in January. I subsequently recieved a recall notice regarding the Intel chipset.

I called HP on May 14 to return the unit. The representative explained 1) she could NOT issue a refund in any way, as refunds could only be done by case managers, and 2) I would have to wait until a case manager called me back. When I expressed concern that the case manager may call me back after the May 15th deadline, she exaplined that 1) since I called on May 14, I could still get the refund, and 2) the deadline was extended to May 31.

I received a call from a case manager "Leonard" on May 16th, who explained that he could NOT issue a refund or even a replacement, as the deadline as passed. He indicated he heard a similar story from another customer being told about the May 31 deadline, but would still not issue a rufund on my case. He said the supervisors were busy running a business, and would not transfer me to his supervisor.

This is clearly unethical business practice. I called within the deadline, and HP refused to process my refund.

Just curious, anyone throw a faster CPU in this? I have a i7 2630m, but can I upgrade this myself to a 2720m or 2820m? Those support 32GB RAM rather than the 2630m'a 16GB.
