    Sounds like that guy was giving you the go-around, FedEx should handle HP parcels on Mondays. According to HP's web site, business days are "Monday through Friday, excluding New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day".

    Yeah, of course he was. It's his job. It was apparent he was giving us a line of crap from the point when he supported the rep in saying that 2-3 business day shipping does not mean 2-3 business days from shipped date. C'est la vie.

    Mine is in Shanghai with an expected delivery date of Niv 1st, as per Fedex. I don't mind the shipping time since:

    1) Shipping was free
    2) Built date was Oct 30th and it was shipped yesterday, quicker than anticipate, wich is awesome!

    Deception : My 500GB 7200 Drive is in fact 2 x 250GB ... :-( Anyways, Half a TB in a lappy shall be enough!

    Any of yous received it? Can't wait!

    No [good] change in status for my order (consistent with this info). Wonder how Halon's laptop got released.. 1000's Backlog? The makins of a Grade A Fiasco. Also can't believe how reps push back on this, its HP's fault.

    I finally called in and it sounds like there have been about 400 or so orders stuck in Alaska. Also, he said we'd be getting $50 credits/coupons in our email very matter-of-factly. Plus the $12 shipping for the printer will be reimbursed. Hopefully this mean that everyone affected will get some compensation out of this. Don't take anything that I'm saying as fact, I'm just relaying what was told to me by the HP.

    It isn't about fifty bucks. I'd give them an extra fifty to get it tomorrow. I'm leaving on a trip on Sunday, and if I don't get it tomorrow, I'll cancel and buy something else. This has been a bad experience.

    Don't hold your breath for delivery tomorrow, Look at the time - 8:03 PM anchorage time - Its only 11:30 am in Anchorage right now. If it flies out of anchorage after 8:00 pm Anchorage time tonight - I'll bet it doesn't get to the mainland sorting facility in time to make tomorrow's shipments. Maybe I'm just getting cynical, but I'm willing to bet we won't see them tomorrow. I hope I'm wrong.

    I called Fed-Ex and asked and the guy said that it would indeed make it here by tomorrow. We shall see.

    Also that could still be showing Shanghai's time zone. It couldn't possibly be Anchorage time because it is not 8:03 there yet.

    I was not going to be around this weekend so I called the number. They said they are all loaded on the shipping container and will be ready for delivery by 10:30am tomorrow. For LA at least but probably all of them.

    If anyone is interested I can give some performance numbers before and after I replace the hard drive with the SSD.

    I just called that number and was told it is a possibility I will get it tomorrow. The lady said the package is on it's way to Oakland to be sorted, then it will be flown back up to Seattle.

    But, funny how the status is updated for something in the future.

    Just in time to miss the weekend, I imagine, for an east coast delivery (they'd have to get it to the local distribution point by early AM)..

    I have to wonder whether all the ruckus we made helped them move on it. I mentioned these "numerous discussions" in an email complaint (their canned response was laughable, promising to "expedite") and sounds like lots of people here were telling them a thing or two.

    Hopefully, no new surprises and when the box is finally opened something isnt broken!

    Everyone, I just did a quick search and found someone else's tracking from two months ago. Notice the time of the shipment release is actually 5ish hours ahead of when it shipped out. I bet we see our laptops departing at around 3:15.

    Mine departed Anchorage at 3:02PM, so based on that, I believe it is on this flight: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX90

    However, for my notebook, I never got any message regarding customs or International shipping release or anything like that.

    Now my question is, will it be driven from Memphis to my local distribution center, or flown? If it gets on a plane tonight and arrives in the city that my local distribution center is, I may just go and pick it up myself (even though the distribution center is over an hour away).

    In the picture on the official hp webiste DV8T has backlit keyboard (observe the space bar). So are you sure there is no backlit keyboard? That would be HP misleading people...

    try backing down the gamma a bit. it makes the black areas a lot more darker. great improvement in overall contrast.

    Well, even though the estimated delivery date says Wednesday, the status says "On FedEx vehicle for delivery", so I am guessing I will get it today. :) I am hoping I get it earlier in the day (perferably within the next 2 hours).

    Same here folks! Just got a DELIVERED EMAIL NOTIFICATION

    And shipping was super fast! Shipped Yesterday and received this morning!

    Can't wait to go pick it up... I am Canadian, so crossing the border when I finish working going to pick it up! Yay!
