Thank you very much for your help.
With MSI after burner, you can set the overclock for each app.
Check on the settings
-
I have the license but anyway, yes they are freewares.
-
lol. Troll much?
Sweet, just what I wanted.
And no problem.
Yours is uploading right now, then I'll start the whole swsetup folder upload and post that at a later time when it's finished. -
Very good news
-
I sent you a message on your profile with the download link for the two you wanted.
I'm uploading the entire swsetup folder now, will post the link when I get done uploading. -
You say you have the license, how do we know?
Freeware? Really? Tell that to HP. Check their website. Posting this software for EVERYONE to have, not KOSHER! -
k, then for the forums sake I won't post it. lol.
But if anyone needs it....let me know. lol.
Just tryin to help out other dv8 owners. -
What is the difference between the dv8t-1000 and the dv8t-1100 version laptops? Is it an actual hardware change, or just the specs/software available for the laptop? I had a problem with the motherboard on my dv8t-1000, so I hope the replacement -1100 version they are sending me has a new revision.
-
Thank you for your contribution. We were waiting for somebody like you...
-
Thank you for your help. HP provide a ridiculous support but thanx to a nice community, we can fix our issues by ourself

I got it. No need to send it anymore

what problem did you have? I was in the same situation as you; also had my dv8 returned. the original one I had was the dv8t-1000, I'm getting the dv8t-1100 now. My dv8t had a faulty keyboard, in which pressing a key didn't do anything. It was DOA, so I quickly returned it. -
Just what i said, we were waiting for someone like you...

Cant say I would be posting links to any copy protected software. My company spends a fortune on HP software and I can guarantee it's copyrighted. True we do have a lisense since we own the computer, but who knows who will download it. -
My stock GPU runs at 74° after about 20 min with a high load. I would not want it running any hotter myself. What GPU burn in app were you using? I was using FurMark.

you guys are gonna kill me... lol.... i bit the bullet on the dell studio xps 16 with core i5
but I think I am still gonna hang onto my dv8 (for a while)
I am anxious to see how the latest Nvidia driver runs on it from HP. I'll just download from the dv7t drivers page. -

Matt, it's so sad to see one of our kind leave =(.
ohh yea btw, what are the specs of your new Dell? -
Thanks, don't get me wrong the dv8 isn't a bad computer I just don't trust it. Good thing I kept mine in immaculate condition so when I sell it I should get most of my money back. I'll start it low on eBay and with 8gb of ram plus the 2 year accidentally warranty that should catch some buyers
I honestly don't need all that power also. The core 2 duo's have always given me more than enough power so Core i5 should be plenty.
I used my Dell EPP account and sweet talked the rep and they gave me a $350 discount plus next day shipping. But it costs way way more more than the dv8 but that's ok because I originally wanted the Dell SXPS 16. I sacrificed bluray but that's ok since I don't even own a bluray disc. EVerything has a balance though and I'll get a backlit keyboard something I really wanted too

I tried many times to reinstall the finger print driver without any success.
Then i start finding any help and this is what i found :
http://www5.nohold.net/DigitalPersona/ukp.aspx?solutionid=972&vw=1
To make it short, Digital Persona knows the problem, they even solved it but now the question is where can i find this update?
Anyone is running Digital Persona 4.11.3826? -
Your graphic card should be defective. Mine never goes over 65 (overclocked).
We use the same software
-
What a joke, finally i got the latest version of Digital Persona (4.11.3826) but same problem...
It looks like i'm not the only one. Many people on forums complain about the same problem. Even with the latest update.
HP support doesn't even know what is a computer, can't wait for any help from them, Digital persona doesn't provide any support since our version is a OEM so can't hope anything from them too... What can i do?
If anyone needs this update, just ask... -
I blogged about my new DV8T today describing the activities and the issue with the video drivers. It's too long to post here, but if anyone's interested you can read the blog here: http://wp.me/pKU9b-1u.
-
I just wish they'd upgrade this thing to the GT330m already.
I also don't understand why I'm stuck with Samsung PC8500 (1066mhz) ram when the replacement ram on their parts website is PC10666 (1333mhz) -
lol true.
weird.
Mine was being fluky a couple of times.
It just would say that it wasn't installed.
I restarted and all works fine. (I've had that happen to my last dell laptop before too).
let's start a class action lawsuit.lol. Or demand money back. haha. Where can I see exactly what ram I got? -
You can use CPU Z (google it) or Open up the back and take a look.
I'm not saying start a CAL, but when I ordered it I was told it'd be 1333mhz -
Thanks for the program. I don't want to open mine up since i just got it monday night. haha.
If mine is not 1333, it is going to go back. Although i do love this machine.
I haven't had any of those problems that anyone has mentioned. I haven't updated any drivers (only windows updates). I've left Win7Pro on here, etc.
I've still got alot of work and graphics to change/skin before I'll be satisfied, but I do like this laptop. It's perfect for what I need. I only wish it had a little better graphics card, but in reality it's still a million times better than what I had.
But thanks again for the program, I'll have to check that out soon. -
Hi there,
is this possible to change the inbuilt tv tuner card to a dvb-t as i moving to australia?
regards -
I don't know if you can change it but mine is already dvb T (bought in Switzerland).
Are you sure that your card isn't dvb T? -
HP support drives me crazy.
They are just useless.
Me : Digital Persona doesn't recognize the finger Print reader.
HP support : Wait, i'll ask my expert
HP support : Ok, so you can't install Digital Persona?
Me : Yes i can install Digital Persona but once installed, Digital Persona doesn't recognise my finger print reader.
HP support : Wait, i'll ask my expert...
HP support : Is your printer an HP?
Me : My god...
I have to say that is in french, so finger print reader is "lecteur d'empreintes digitales" and in french a printer is "imprimante" so maybe in english i can accept that they don't understand well but in french the two words are very different. The only wrong thing is the people working on the support. They are just useless. -
Low-skill, low-paid, flowchart-following drones that probably have never seen the device.
-
Yes it was bought in the US so it is the atsc version...
can the part be ordered through Hp switzerland and is it easy to swap? -
When i call HP support, it's like when i call the third world. I loose connection, very bad sound quality, etc.
I don't know where they are (I think Marocco), but for sure they are not in Europe.
I'm not against low cost. It's a reality on big companies, but i'm against a useless support. And HP doesn't provide any support. They provide a number to wast your time. -
When you see the price of parts in Switzerland, you don't want to order anything (almost 100$ for the hard drive caddy when it worth maybe 3 or 4 bucks...)
Maybe you can order the part, but i don't think you can change it easily.
DVB-T TV tuner module 482899-003
DVB-T/ANG TV tuner module 482899-002
Check the maintenance guide to see how easy it is :
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01910942.pdf -
Ok i just checked and opened my laptop to see and it looks very easy.
Try to order the part and replace it (maybe 10 minutes of work max) -
Memory speed can also be checked from HP Support Assistant program, Start->All Programs->HP->HP Support Assistant->Troubleshoot->General Specifications. Mine shows 1067 MHz.
I wanted to have Lightscribe and Bluray RW burner, and ordered the latest expecting it will have Lightscribe included but looks like it doesnt. I downloaded lightscribe progam, and put lightscribe CD in, it says it doesnt support it Can anyone confirm that? -
Would you guys stick with HP's warranty or go elsewhere?
I've heard horror stories for HP's service wait time (2 month turnarounds??)
If I stick with HP: I get a 4yr ADH warranty for $276
If I go with Square Trade: I can get a 3yr ADH for $350
ST is known for excellent service and guarantee they will only have your laptop for 5 days max. (You send it in, within 5 days it will be sent back to you). If not, they refund your warranty.
What do you guys recommend? -
My problem goes even worse.
After hours talking with HP support, finaly they let me talk to the "expert"...
He told me to update my BIOS because there are so many problems with F.05 (...). I refused to update to F.15 and he told me that the F.12 was ok for my problem...
Now, my computer sounds like a Boeing 747 everytime. So nice !
I tried to desactivate the fan from the BIOS but nothing as changed...
Any idea? EDIT : I found the solution for the noise (In the BIOS, press F9 and F10)
The best thing is that my problem with Digital Persona is exactly the same. I'm so happy. -
agreed....useless.
99% of the time the people on the forums know more than them.
I'm part of a bunch of windowsmobile forums where we unlock and mod our phones like no tomorrow, and we all call in to tech support and tell them how to do things lol.
Mine does not have lightscribe. It should say on the orderpage if it does have lightscribe and it doesn't.
I was going to get a sager laptop(same thing as alienware but half the price) from sagernotebooks.com, but the one I wanted was like 6,000$ alone, but it had like 16g of ram (i don't need that much but hey, I just wanted it.lol) and all kinds of stuff, but my setup now with a wireless all in one printer, port duplicator, universal stand, 27" external monitor, the 5.1 logitech surround sound, 2terabyte external drive, and some other little items was about 3000 with 2day shipping and a 2yr accidental drop. So I had to jump on that.
Edit: for system memory mine shows:
8GB,
Slots:
1 4gb Sodimm Other 1333Mhz Samsung
2 4gb Sodimm Other 1333Mhz Samsung
Lovely.
I just now had the problem with the stock vid card drivers.
Took four days. lol.
Trying to run javafx widgets and it crashed.
I hope it was a fluke since I'm learning to develop these widgets and learning java also, and if this is what I have to look forward to, then it's going back. -
One quick question, I ordered the blueray burner (don't have a blueray disc to try burning it
) and on the outside of the dvd tray, it states:
RW and below that DVD+RW DL
Then Compact Disc Rewritable (high speed)
DVD Multi Recorder
and to the right of the eject button it says
Bluray Disc.
When I got to the drive's properties it shows:
Under the header Name, it states:
HP BD MLT UJ240
(Also shows it in the HP Support Assistant gen spec area)
And to the right of that, under the header Type, it states:
DVD/CD-ROM drives.
My question is, I've tried to search for
"bd mlt uj240" and nothing comes up that shows that it is infact a bluray burner. I want to confirm this as the last few laptops that my family has ordered were suppose to come with burners (dvd burners-this was a few years back) and we didn't think to check it till after it was too late and the company wouldn't exchange it out.
I would like to confirm that this is an actual Bluray burner.
If anyone could help, that would be greatly appreciated.
(And yes, if you haven't noticed, I'm still a "noob" at computers especially when it comes to hardware stuff). -
Check out this eBay link. The seller says that it is a Panasonic Blu-Ray burner.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Panasonic-Blu-r...C_Drives_Storage_Internal?hash=item3a56200ab0 -
If you want to confirm it (OF COURSE IT IS ONE!) stick a BD disc in and try to burn something. voila
Interesting how a lot of the HP parts on ebay are all from China. Missing stuff from the factory anyone? -

What type of RAM do you guys have? for the 1333mhz ram and the 1066mhz ram. Is it PC3 10666 or Pc3 10600 or what?
-
I have 2x2GB of PC 8500 (1066 mhrz) and the max is 2x4GB of 10666 (1333mhrz)
-
Thanks, that looks just like mine except mine is chrome and not the black outside of the drive tray.
That makes me feel a little more at ease as I wasn't too sure if I had received what I paid for or not.
HAHA. I was waiting for someone to say this.
I did state that I didn't have a Bluray disc to be able to try and burn something. And living without a license/car, tends to make it a little harder to go get some blank Bluray discs.
(My stupid self had gotten a dui and lost my license and they confiscated my car at the impound as they wanted twice as much as it was worth so I decided to let them keep it. haha).
I included some screenshots of CPUID CPUZ program on the memory tab and also the hp support program on the general specs option.
Hopefully that helps you out, if you want more info, just tell me where and what you want.Attached Files:

PC3XXXX is based off the calculation of the ram speed (1066mhz x some value = PC3 #)- whatever. The point is they either round up, display the actual number, or round down.
So:
1066mhz is PC3 8500
1333mhz is PC3 10600 or 10666 or (something else too I think)
1600mhz is PC3 1333 I believe
Edit: I contacted HP about this RAM issue. I think that the dv8t is supposed to have 1333mhz, and the dv7t and below to have 1066mhz. Probably a mix up somewhere down the line, and of course the IQ level of so many of the HP tech support people will never fully understand you when you bring it up.
"Sir - why did my computer come with PC38500 when I was told it would come with PC310666"
"You ordered 8gb ddr3 ram"
"Yes sir, I did"
"Well I can see that you did get ddr3"
"Yeah. ddr3 comes in 3 different speeds"
"Are you referring to ddr2 vs. ddr3"
"Mother of god" -
Theres a DV7T coupon, NBWT54217, that takes off an extra $100 plus the $200 already taken off by HP. Total $999 before tax.
-
Thanks for the info,I'm learning alot about my laptop and other things from all of you "gurus" here.
Thanks everyone! -

lol, get used to it.
HP even makes mistakes when they process returns and exchanges- they gave me a bad shipping label, which caused FedEx to lose my laptop when I was exchanging it! Then since they never received it, they friggin canceled my exchange...
sad...
