hi! just want to ask if when you place your upgrade order, how much is the supposed shipping and handling fee? mine is a costly USD19.99. USD20? is it because it's an order from the philippines? but i thought hp and microsoft have their local outlets or service centers in the philippines. i didn't pushed through my order anymore. i'll stick with xp pro instead, in the meantime.

Yes, I did that within the same 15 mins it took me to go through the site. The EU side of things just seem to be sitting on there hands.

The problem I have is that I live in Finland, which means I don't have access to a freephone numbr to call them up. I'm not gonna start spending money on a international phone call just to complain. I spent enough on phone calls just to get my laptop sorted out in the first place. (see my sig)

A problem I also had was that the EU side of things to start ordering Vista, didn't start up until just before christmas. Then I had to contact the company that replaced my laptop because they had bought it from a shop so I could have a copy of the receipt. It took them a few weeks after christmas before they contacted me. (I had to complain to their HQ in Norway) Then and only then I could start my order.

I'm not the fool in all of this! Just that people in The Netherlands don't seem to be doing much when it comes to answering emails!

    Oooh, and update:

Order Status : Order awaiting shipment
Shipping Date : TBD. Check back in 2-3 weeks for more information

Order Status : Coa Validated. Waiting for Proof of Purchase.
Shipping Date : TBD. Note that it typically takes 4-6 weeks after the submission of the proof of purchase for the order to be shipped.
    Carrier : Standard

EDIT: Oops, I just re-read my original e-mail and it says it in there.

How would I go about doing this, if the laptop was a gift? I received it as a highschool graduation gift...

You need to ask whoever bought you the computer for the receipt or online order confirmation sheet. Once you have that you just scan it and email it to the address indicated.

Haha. Now what do you make of this? I changed from shipping in March to the following:

That's either an "OH SNAP. We messed up big time!!" on the drivers/Express Upgrade program from HP and that there is going to be another delay, or a sign that we might be getting the upgrades sooner, perhaps at more random times.

anyone beginning to wish that they'd just waited for a pre-installed version of vista? i am.

i really don't understand the way the update website works, i think they just put random phrases on it. the other week mine said - awaiting proof of purchase, check back in 1 - 2 weeks. isn't that a bit paradoxical! what am i waiting for? i'd already sent my proof of purchase, maybe they didn't like the pic i took of my receipts so they are gonna come round my house when i am not there, find my proof of purchase and then send me another update telling me they found it and i should check back in 10-20 weeks??????

the update site needs some form of 'key' to explain what everything means!

anyway, i suppose they'll learn for the next time!

I'll try that, he should still have it filed away somewhere.

If this actually takes weeks and weeks...I'm just going to use my father's copy of Vista Ultimate Edition. He got it today from his MSDN license. And since he *technically* owns my laptop (he is the one who purchased it for me), then he can install it on my machine.

He's running it on his laptop as of a few hours ago, looks really awesome.

Still at the "TBA" shipping status for my upgrade. Stupid HP. On the one hand though, they probably are doing this so that we all get the most stable drivers possible, which will be very nice if it installs and has support without a headache, ala a new machine. On the other hand though...They might be taking some extra time for the other purpose of loading up the discs with all their bloatware.

i got an email saying that they recieved my request and everything... and now they say this:

For your order to be fulfilled, you must submit (by mail,
facsimile or scan and email) your receipt for the qualifying PC,
together with the online confirmation number listed on this page,
to the following address or facsimile number:

so all i have to do is mail in my receipt for my laptop to the address they gave me? and thats all i have to send? and what does the receipt look like again?

Maharishi express? 'merican express? Probably some company we have never heard of like Moduslink.

Sorry, I'm a little PO'd about my "express" upgrade. Why'd they call it that?

I sent mine in Dec as well dont remember the exact date but it was probably a week or 2 before Christmas. I snail mailed it and the next time I checked was in early Jan and my POP was validated by then. The last email mentioned that they would be shipping in early March to people whose orders were accepted before Jan 30th. So, if your order was accepted before jan 30th then expect it to be shipped any day now(hopefully).

I wondered the same thing so I called them and all they could tell me was MEXP was a private carrier, and they couldn't give me any more information then that. So I guess the tracking number does no good. If anyone else wants to call, please do because I feel I didn't necessarily get the full story.

Thanks for the link! I tried entering my tracking number as well and got the same message. I kind of worry about it being shipped by a company I have never heard of but hopefully it will arrive okay. I wished they had used FedEX or UPS or even the regular postal service instead of this.

Sorry to hear that Miner. That really stinks. Anyway, I just checked my tracking again and it now says that it is in the "prepared for shipment" stage as of yesterday (3/10/07) at 12:40pm and that it is shipping from Wood Dale, IL. I imagine I'll have it possibly as early as tomorrow. I'll keep you all updated as to when I get it.

I have searched the net for any reference to MEXP, with no luck, other than forums such as this. Based upon the 3 week delivery estimate, I'm guessing that the "M" stands for Matsui or Matson Lines, and my DVD is on a slow boat from China.

Its Global Mailexpress( http://www.mailexpress.biz/) and the DVD's are shipping from Wood Dale, IL. The DVD's actually will be mailed through USPS. This is just a case of Moduslink contracting the work of labelling and shipping out the stuff to another third party operator - Mail express and they inturn use USPS to ships the DVD's.
