hi! just want to ask if when you place your upgrade order, how much is the supposed shipping and handling fee? mine is a costly USD19.99. USD20? is it because it's an order from the philippines? but i thought hp and microsoft have their local outlets or service centers in the philippines. i didn't pushed through my order anymore. i'll stick with xp pro instead, in the meantime.

The problem I have is that I live in Finland, which means I don't have access to a freephone numbr to call them up. I'm not gonna start spending money on a international phone call just to complain. I spent enough on phone calls just to get my laptop sorted out in the first place. (see my sig)
A problem I also had was that the EU side of things to start ordering Vista, didn't start up until just before christmas. Then I had to contact the company that replaced my laptop because they had bought it from a shop so I could have a copy of the receipt. It took them a few weeks after christmas before they contacted me. (I had to complain to their HQ in Norway) Then and only then I could start my order.
I'm not the fool in all of this! Just that people in The Netherlands don't seem to be doing much when it comes to answering emails! -
Oooh, and update:
Order Status : Order awaiting shipment
Shipping Date : TBD. Check back in 2-3 weeks for more information
-
Order Status : Coa Validated. Waiting for Proof of Purchase.
Shipping Date : TBD. Note that it typically takes 4-6 weeks after the submission of the proof of purchase for the order to be shipped.
Carrier : Standard
EDIT: Oops, I just re-read my original e-mail and it says it in there.
How would I go about doing this, if the laptop was a gift? I received it as a highschool graduation gift... -
You need to ask whoever bought you the computer for the receipt or online order confirmation sheet. Once you have that you just scan it and email it to the address indicated. -
Haha. Now what do you make of this? I changed from shipping in March to the following:
-
anyone beginning to wish that they'd just waited for a pre-installed version of vista? i am.
i really don't understand the way the update website works, i think they just put random phrases on it. the other week mine said - awaiting proof of purchase, check back in 1 - 2 weeks. isn't that a bit paradoxical! what am i waiting for? i'd already sent my proof of purchase, maybe they didn't like the pic i took of my receipts so they are gonna come round my house when i am not there, find my proof of purchase and then send me another update telling me they found it and i should check back in 10-20 weeks??????
the update site needs some form of 'key' to explain what everything means!
anyway, i suppose they'll learn for the next time! -
If this actually takes weeks and weeks...I'm just going to use my father's copy of Vista Ultimate Edition. He got it today from his MSDN license. And since he *technically* owns my laptop (he is the one who purchased it for me), then he can install it on my machine.
He's running it on his laptop as of a few hours ago, looks really awesome. -
Earlier they said that it would be shipping April 3rd for me. Now it's TBD... I'm starting to wonder if i'll ever get my copy.
-
if we bought the laptop from the hp website do i still have to send them proof?
-
-
-
Or just contact the BBB waffler...sometimes they get HP's attention.
-
-
yea you do. I had the same problem and just scanned and emailed them
-
Still at the "TBA" shipping status for my upgrade. Stupid HP. On the one hand though, they probably are doing this so that we all get the most stable drivers possible, which will be very nice if it installs and has support without a headache, ala a new machine. On the other hand though...They might be taking some extra time for the other purpose of loading up the discs with all their bloatware.

Just received thie email update from Moduslink...No change in my order status but supposedly it is expected to ship in early March for those who ordered before Jan 30, 2007.
-
-
i got an email saying that they recieved my request and everything... and now they say this:
For your order to be fulfilled, you must submit (by mail,
facsimile or scan and email) your receipt for the qualifying PC,
together with the online confirmation number listed on this page,
to the following address or facsimile number:
so all i have to do is mail in my receipt for my laptop to the address they gave me? and thats all i have to send? and what does the receipt look like again? -

Who/what is MEXP??? -
Sorry, I'm a little PO'd about my "express" upgrade. Why'd they call it that? -
Miner, when did your POP/COA get validated? Mine was done on, or about, Dec. 15th. I wonder when mine will get here.
-
My POP was validated about a week ago, and today it just switched status to "Order approved".
-
-
Got an email today saying my Vista upgrade has shipped and I should get it within one week. This is one month earlier than I was originally told. Yeah!
-
I didn't mail my POP in until Jan. 31st and I just got the email saying it had been shipped out and to expect it in a week.
-
I got the same today -
It's official - My Vista has shipped...See below.
I hope others are getting this email too.

just got this email half a minute ago, came directly to this forum
i'm so excited -
Mine shipped today as well. I will probably be selling my version of Windows Vista Basic if anyone wants to buy it, seeing as I already have Vista Business Edition( Thx Powertogether.com !)
Dan -
Looks like they all shipped yesterday...I got that message too.
-
Anybody have any idea what MEXP is. That is supposedly who is shipping and I would like to track the package if I can.
-
I wondered the same thing so I called them and all they could tell me was MEXP was a private carrier, and they couldn't give me any more information then that. So I guess the tracking number does no good. If anyone else wants to call, please do because I feel I didn't necessarily get the full story. -
Also got the email, mine says it should be here with in 3 weeks. I'm guessing they are shipping out from The Netherlands then.
-
Dang. I haven't even gotten the email that my order will ship soon, and I ordered mid-January. Where's my order, Moduslink?
-
Ahh. I sent my information in on the second day that the website was up, and I haven't received a notification yet. No fair.. Has anybody else, who sent their information in before their cutoff date, not received a notification.
Edit: lol, okay, I guess I'm not alone. -
well I called moduslink again, and this time i received a website where i could track my MEXP tracking number...
https://tracking.mailexpress.biz/
of course when i put in my tracking number it told me there was no additional info. Maybe someone else will have some luck... -
Just got info in E-mail that My Vista Premium OEM is shipping. too bad I exchanged my laptop for another one during this process so I hope I can still install it on another machine then.
-
-
From skimming their main website it looks like they actually use USPS as their carrier... Who knows... -
Just checked the tracking for my order and guess what they have any address wrong!!!! Called up Moduslink and they washed their hands off the issue and told me to contact USPS instead. Havent called them yet but this is crazy...might as well forget the free upgrade
.
-
Sorry to hear that Miner. That really stinks. Anyway, I just checked my tracking again and it now says that it is in the "prepared for shipment" stage as of yesterday (3/10/07) at 12:40pm and that it is shipping from Wood Dale, IL. I imagine I'll have it possibly as early as tomorrow. I'll keep you all updated as to when I get it.
