    I just ordered mine! I just hope the Bing cashback went through... there was no Bing logo anywhere in the checkout process. I did sign in through Bing and click through to HP though, so it should work. Here are my specs...

    * • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    * • Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-430M Dual Core processor (2.26GHz, 3MB L2 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.53GHz
    * • 4GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    * • 320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection
    * • Intel(R) HD Graphics
    * • [For HP Mobile Broadband WWAN] 14.0" diagonal High-Definition HP BrightView LED Display (1366 x 768)
    * • SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
    * • HP TrueVision Webcam + Fingerprint Reader + Digital Microphone
    * • Wireless-N Card
    * • Full-size island-style keyboard
    * • High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery (standard)
    * • Microsoft(R) Works 9.0
    * • HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

    With tax, after the bing rebate, it should be around $615! Not too shabby.

    bing doesn't pop up anywhere throughout the purchasing process but as long as you signed in through bing into the hp website and purchased, you will receive an email confirmation of your bing cash back within 5 minutes after ur purchase. congrats on your purchase!

    You will probably only have 10% Bing Cash Back for the Envy. The extra 15% on the DM4 makes its price very attractive. Even still, I am first waiting for my Acer (see sig) if it comes out before June 27th and, if not, hello Envy.

    Bronsky :cool:

    HP is about to sell a boatload of computers this summer. Their timing could not be better and their competitors have really seemed to stumble this seaons, getting their products out.

    Edit: why is everybody configuring the I5-430M? What about the other I5's are they available?

    Yeah actually all the i5's and even the i7-620m are available. I can't speak for everyone else, but for my uses I think the I5-430M will probably be more than I need as it is.

    And thanks jttran - the bing cashback confirmation just came through! Now I just have to wait a couple weeks...

    yeah the other i5's and an i7 are available:

    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-520M Dual Core processor (2.40GHz, 3MB L2 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 2.93GHz
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-540M Dual Core processor (2.53GHz, 3MB L2 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.06GHz
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-620M Dual Core processor (2.66GHz, 4MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.33GHz

    I'm only going to use the notebook for basic applications so I won't need the extra cpu power at all. I wanted to wait for the acer 3820T and the asus ul30jt but the wait was TOO LONG! I'm too impatient and wanted to play with a new toy asap lol

    Somewhat unrelated, but the DV5 and DV6 seem much more expensive than originally suggested.

    From Engadget and many other sources:

    Am I missing something? They're essentially the same price as the DM4.

    I almost held off but I can live with 1366x768 on a 14'' and the 5450 is good enough for me. Plus the 15% extra cashback.

    Edit: So did everyone who ordered get the cashback confirmation yet because I haven't...

    First of all, thanks to everyone for the great information regarding this post. I'm very glad I stumbled upon this thread today, as I too was waiting for the Acer 3820. I'm happy to say that I think I'll be going with the HP DM4.

    Quick question for you all though. Is it worth it to get the extra 9 cell battery for only $45 (after BCB)? I noticed that some of you have upgrade to the 9 cell already, but in that case is it worth $22.50 (after BCB) for the extra 6 cell? I won't be traveling much, so as far as switching batteries throughout the day goes that won't be much of a thought.

    Will the 6 cell battery eventually lose it's charge/lifespan?

    What kind of battery life do we really expect from the 6 cell? Obviously not the 6.9 hours advertised.

    This will be my first laptop ever, so I want one with decent mobility and battery life. Thanks for the posts guys! I'm going to jump on this deal, just trying to figure out the exact configuration I want.

    Bing cashback is great by the way! I have used it many times, receiving over $500 back from them in the past year or so. Don't hesitate because of the bing cashback, as it will come through.

    There's an error on the batteries.

    There's no difference between 6-cell (standard) and high capacity 6-cell (standard), yet they charge $20 extra dollars for the latter. :)

    What? Where did you hear that? The HP site says: "The High Capacity 6 Cell Lithium Ion Battery provides 16% more capacity than our standard 6-cell battery" (under the help menu of battery selection)

    Ok whew, no worries... I thought you had read otherwise, and I got a little worried because I went with the high capacity. I think "standard" probably refers to size.

    Does anyone know the answer to the earlier question re: upgrading from normal wireless card to the intel wireless card? Is it worth the 25 bucks?

    Yeah, I actually got my Bing Cashback confirmation email before I got my actual order confirmation email from HP.

    Also, does anyone know what the deal is with the 2 different options for the display? They're both the same size and resolution, just one has that "For WLAN" thing in front of it. I've already ordered and just went with the default option, but I'm just curious if there's even a difference at all.
    Oh and HP says the 9-cell battery can get up to 12 hours?? That sounds a little ridiculous, but I ordered an extra 9-cell since it was fairly cheap.

    It's only a matter of preference. It is not a 15.6" widescreen laptop, it is a 14" widescreen laptop. Huge difference. Text will be extremely tiny on a 14" at 1400x900. People don't like to strain their eyes.. so that is why HP doesn't include the option, since it is marketed towards consumers and not power users.

    It's also a budget laptop and not a luxury laptop. I don't understand why people keep complaining about this.

    The display on HP's 14" laptops have always been "pathetic". I still have a working GeForce Go 6150 from HP with a 1280x800 screen. Only reasonable that they stuck with 1366x768.

    This is the only reason I'm waiting for the ENVY 14.

    You do know if you calculate the pixels between 1280x800 and 1366x768, the 1366x768 has more pixels.

    1366 * 768 = 1,049,088
    1280 * 800 = 1,024,000

    Also, 1280x800 is 16:10, while the 1366x768 is 16:9.

    I also have a Dell Inspiron 700m 12.1" widescreen at 1280x800 and my current laptop Acer Aspire 5740G 15.6" widescreen at 1366x768 has a little more workspace. You need to do more research.

    I configured it to my liking, indicated by bolded text, and ended up with a price of $925. It's cheaper than the Envy 14 but not by much

    Hey guys,

    I've read all the posts on here for the dm4, and I've been looking at it pretty strongly. I just have a few questions.

    I don't know too much about computers, but is the graphics card crap, decent, or good in this thing? I'm not going to use it for games, but I start medical school next semester, so I think I need something decent to be able to view certain anatomy programs, etc.

    Also, how long does the Bing Cash Back discount go for?

    The GPU in this notebook is powerful enough for most business uses. It should have no problem handling the programs you will be encountering in school. I would get a decent CPU and a large 7200 rpm HD.

    No idea on the Bing cash back but I would think not too long.

    hi guys,

    is it worth paying 275$ for an i7 cpu? logic buy has a coupon for 150$ when you configure a notebook with i7 over 1,199$.

    a normal day for my laptop means running in parallel the following: adobe dreamweaver, photoshop, wamp server, chrome, safari, ie8, ffox, opera, power point, total commander, and other 2-3 not very resource intensive applications.

    i currently have a core2duo 2,1 ghz and it doesn't have a problem handling all these, however, on large documents photoshop lags a bit (especially when i have 3-5 of them open :D).

    also, will it impact battery life? from what i can understand both i7 and i5 have the same power footprint?

    one more thing - how long does it take to boot up after all the default bloatware is removed? :D

    thanks!

    I've heard the i7 uses substantially more power than the i5. The max TDP is the same, but that doesn't mean much in the real world.

    I was looking at the battery compartment of my dm4t-1060us and saw a SIM card slot. My question is is this slot functional? Do I have to get an unlocked HSPDA card in order to use it? I have a SIM card slot on my Dell XPS 1530 and bought an unlocked HSPDA card for it and it works. The dm4 doesn't have an extra place for a card like the XPS, so how do I go about making it functional?
