I'm using the 11.10 preview drivers (the first of two versions, I think). Had no trouble installing them normally, CCC and all.

Well, for me at least, the most "stable" drivers are the stock HP drivers. But all the drivers I've tried have a shortcoming.

The stock HP drivers are very stable in EVERYTHING except when I stream. The game doesn't crash, but my screen will turn black for a few seconds and the display has recovered message will appear. This happens as often as every minute to once every 2 hours.

The 11.8.3 DNA drivers are stable in everything except Minecraft. Game crashes seconds into loading the game.

The 11.10 preview drivers do the same thing as 11.8.3 DNA drivers but also crash while stream.

I wish I was good at this stuff so I could make it work. Unfortunately I do both of these things frequently so it looks like I'm out of luck until HP updates their drivers since everything but the stock HP drivers seem to crash minecraft.

Me too. dv6-6169er (6770M). Disabling PowerPlay should make GPU work at max performance all the time, not at minimum. Shame on you, HP/AMD.

^ DNA 11.8.3? you can't install it on top of 11.10 because 11.10 is newer.

    1) Uninstall any and all (HP/AMD + DNA) video drivers you already have.

    2) Download and install the latest official HP-AMD Drivers for your laptop from here.

    3) Download and install DNA drivers from here.

Why would you want to roll back drivers?

And how did you make 11.10 work on the laptop? I can't.

With the leaked AMD driver (8.892.x.xxx), you don't need to do double installation. :D

    1. Remove HP/AMD/DNA driver completely.
    2. Download the leaked 8.892 driver here and Intel Component driver here.
    3. Extract the AMD driver.
    4. Extract the Intel Component into Packages/Apps/.
    5. Continue with the installation. Windows will request an authorization for Intel Audio driver, just hit accept.

this doesn't work for me. i tried it just to see and although it installs fine, when it restarts my laptop, CCC gives me a message that its not compatible with the driver and it asks me to update the driver

this is with a dv7t quad edition 61xx

What driver is that exactly? Is it better than DNA?

From the process you describe, my understanding is that those are unofficial drivers (for HP at least) that work just like the HP/AMD package. Is it so?

A leaked AMD driver, probably alpha 11.11 or 11.12. Not recommended to install unless u want to test it. :) Better stick with 11.9/DNA 11.8.3/HP .3000

So Ive recently tried 11.8.3 DNA, overclocking to 850-990 without voltage increase. So it turns out that the driver was barely faster than 11.5b and ran about 10 degrees hotter, as well as being much more unstable. I'm reverting back to 11.5b for the moment since it's the coolest driver out there.

Anyone have any other experience with other drivers as compared to the 11.5b for overclocking ofcourse. I want to find a better driver, if one exist.

Hi guys, first of all sorry about my poor english :(

I just bought a Hp dv6 6050 SS with a HD 6770m video card. As you can see my laptop videocard has an old catalyst driver (the last uploaded one in the hp website) Imageshack - sinttulofhu.png

I tried to install the latest AMD official driver in the AMD website for HD 6XXXm series but it says that it doesnt fit my laptop. What can I do for updating the drivers? My laptop is completely stock!

PD: Games like The witcher 2 run smoothly but Saints Row The Third is really crappy! Amd is going to upload new drivers for it but if they arent compatible with our laptops...

    Thanks!

i've been using the 11.11 AMD drivers for a few days now and they actually seem very stable even with a slight overclock (no overvolting but i can still overclock)

no crashes in minecraft and skyrim/starcraft 2 seem to run great

I already posted this on another thread, but feel that it may add something here:

I've thus far had great results with the 11.11 drivers (no unexplainable screen tearing issues, decent performance).

For those who are curious, I have a DV6T-6100QE with a 6770M. In order to get these installed on the HP model, I first uninstalled the old drivers with ATI's tool in the control panel, installed HP's drivers from 9/16/11 and then installed the drivers hyperlinked above over HP's 9/16/11 drivers

The truth is, you'll get varying results with the drivers as far as performance per game goes. Even though I got decent performance all around with the 11.11 drivers, I actually get even better performance with the stock HP drivers (+d3doverrider for the screentearing). (EDIT: at least for Skyrim!)

Hopefully HP will just release a new driver that will be free of the screentearing so I can just sit on that one for a while.

You mean, if i install the 11.11 catalyst drivers games arent going to run smoother? Or that some games are not going to go so much smooth like with the hp drivers?

Anyway, what could I do for overclocking the card? I have max temperatures of 62º so i think it can be overclocked a lot before it becames overheated.

tiner: It's probably going to be hit or miss, as it often is with other driver updates (in my opinion of course). For me, the absence of unexplainable screan tearing (despite in-game or forced out-of-game vsync) and more stable performance in games like Batman Arkham Asylum and Portal 2 was worth the jump to 11.11.

If you want a sense of what games are really being impacted by the latest drivers, check the out the gaming threads here or or even take a visit to sites like AMD Catalyst 11.11 WHQL (8.911.0 25.10.2011) - Rage3D Discussion Area.

We have the same video card model, not the core. Mines is an I3 XD

On the other hand, today I have noticed that while I am gaming, the clock of the gpu does never reach the stock 725 mhz. Only 400 mhz. Why? I have noticed a perfomance loss in the witcher 2 game... I dont know whay, i have not touched anything.

I am using the gpu shark.

try running 3dmark 11 without overclocking, if u get around 1330 points (GPU) then there's nothing wrong with your card

but yeah those results on 3dmark vantage are really good, average for this card is like 6000 I believe

Why the hell did they remove overvolting from the new drivers?! It's really sad...I'm going to have to stick 11.8.3 since overvolting allows me to reach a total +20% performance from stock clocks...more than any driver update would.

(Now AMD Catalyst 11.11a is out, said to have even better performance on BF3.)

I installed this drivers this morning, and run bf3 without crashes like 11.11 driver. So, i think it would be 11.8/9/10

Bf3 runs smothly at 30-40 fps, very playable.

    Now im thinking about OC...
