Why are you posting this here? Isn't it a little off topic? Unless of course, you're trying to pimp the thread you created specifically for this, and then in that case there's really no reason for it to be here in the first place.

Im posting here to inform other users that have QLB buttons. Theyve been trying to figure out how to remap the keys for a very long time. What better way to do it

I didnt put it here for my own personal glory, i posted it here to benefit other HP users.

Ooookay. But this thread has nothing to do with changing QLB buttons though. You already started a thread specifically for that elsewhere.

Good one Flip. Honestly had you not posted it here, I probably wouldn't have seen it otherwise. And the point of the NBR HP Team is to help fellow and potential HP users anywhere on the forum. A little off topic is no biggie. It can always be brought back on track.

Awesome. I'll start posting all my notebook and notebook review accessories here, and anything else that I feel is HP related and helpful in this one thread then. Because you know, there aren't other forums or threads specifically for those topics, so let's fill this single thread with an abundance of off-topic crap.

Instead of being obnoxious, rude, and sarcastic, you could consider how flipfire tastefully did it.

    With a link.

It was a quick FYI of something many have been interested in for a good while now. Flipfire's been a big help to many on here. So if anyone deserves to get a pass for a minor derail, it's flip.

So if you have something pertinent to add to the community that would most likely help us help everyone else, by all means, post a link and a quick header. And it'll be no biggie.

garetjax........did you ever figure out that people who visit this thread are people who have a better understanding and knowledge about HP products that the regular people in the thread. He was trying to get feedback from people that have experience in the technology field and specifically in HP.

Flipfire has been a huge help in this forum and he understands how it works and how sometimes people don't see every single thread on this website. So take your crap comments somewhere else or just shut up.

Right. And he already created a thread specifically to do just that. There was no need to pimp his thread and post off-topic in this one.

That is why there is a search function. And if the search function doesn't work, the almighty Google will.

Sad really. Considering that the point of the team is to provide info as best we can to any who ask and not cop an smug attitude that people should "search and use google."

What's more, the only person who really has a right to take offense to an off topic post is the OP, Velocity 2.0. Think he'd take offense to flip's post?

It's not the point, really. But hey, feel free to think otherwise. What I find tremendously funny is that Flip's post is now on the bottom second page of the HP forum.

Yeah, so many are interested that a whole one person replied to his thread of 70 views. Real compelling argument there. Which only proves my point that Flip was trying to pimp his thread by posting it off-topic here.

However, I digress. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Now you're being silly. while you think you have a valid point you don't because you're so busy trying to defend your inappropriate attack as opposed to just being reasonable or not having done it in the first place.

"Pimp?" Nonsense. Flip figured out how to do something that has been a question on the forum going back many many months in various threads. Using a views count as if that proves your point is infantile because it fails to take into account a number of things. He posted it here because he knows that the team answers these types of questions that others across the forum may have. Also, search wouldn't be all that helpful because one looking to do something with the QLBs may not focus their search properly to find his thread. Some may have given up on a workaround since many months went by and no resolution. So they'd miss the thread.

Like Envision said, Flip knows how this forum works. He chose wisely.

This isn't the first derail. See page 5 with Bulik.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=244875&page=5

We could have been dicks about it and cried like babies that it's an off topic post. But no, we helped the guy out courteously and to his satisfaction and then the thread resumed back on course.

    Take a lesson from it.

If your previous post isn't you crying because I stepped on your e-peen, then I don't know what is. Fact of the matter is that he figured the QLB issue out, kudos to him. But posting here after he posted a separate thread about it is not only off-topic, but irresponsible as well.

In your quest to keep this thread on topic, it was derailed worse than the post you complained about. Anyways, everyone just let it go or this thread is going to go in a completely opposite direction and become polluted with nothing but arguments.

It's not a cry. It's an explanation. You didn't step on my e-peen. You slapped the proverbial face of a respected member for nothing other than to assert your desire to be a self proclaimed ombudsman of your interpretation of proper forum etiquette, irrespective of how the forum actually ebbs and flows. This is a community. And like any community, some are more respected than others and positively contribute more than others. It would have been nice if you knew the difference.

You may have the last word if that last post of yours wasn't.

I get it now. Because some members are more respected than others, (apparently Flip is), they have license to bend the rules, so to speak, if not outright break them. Thanks for confirming that if you aren't part of the good 'ole boy club, you're just another peon in the eyes of everyone else.

I could wax philosophical on this topic, but I'm sure that would be way over your head.

Man your unbelievable, i wont even bother how close minded you are. Whats funny is your getting very defensive.

Thanks for the people who actually APPRECIATE my share of ideas. (2.0 and Envision).

Do you actually think i made the thread for my own benefit? What do you think i get out of it? money? a cookie?

I do it all in good faith. I spent hours trying to figure it out for the benefit of others. I was merely informing the people who own a HP notebook that might like to try it. I am not bending or breaking rules. Report me to the mods if you like.

Lets just leave it at that before the mods decide to lock this thread over non-sense

I don't have a problem with your dissemination of ideas. You just need to learn not to post off-topic when you do it. You'd think that by four thousand posts, you would have figured that out by now. And really, a whole two people came to your rescue... it's not as if the entire world turned out to support you.

C'mon guys. One post and we get two full pages of off topic conversation. Ofcourse, this thread doesnt really have any regular topic or discussion other than introducing the HP team on NBR. At most I would suggest people use this thread for providing information regarding HP(like new launches, general information, reviews, videos etc). This should keep the thread alive and not duplicate information already on the forum.

I don't remember where exactly in Montana I went (been many moons), but I remember we also bought our dog from Idaho, and we went up towards Alberta, so along that path way I guess, I can remember how beautiful it was though.

Idaho, eh? Ever been to the Craters of the Moon National Park? Truly awe-inspiring. I was in Idaho for a couple years while stationed at Mountain Home AFB. Pretty country, but pretty desolate. Spent a lot of time in Boise. God, I loved that city!
