you were told about them and their expiration yesterday. why are you surprised theyre expired?

    here's your thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-envy-hdx/632636-hp-coupons-envy-15-17-a.html

on a side note, i'm hopeful the dec. 7th orders go out this week. it'd be really nice if we got them by the 23rd.

Can we do a poll to see how many were purchased by members of this forum?

Maybe the number sold is not as great as we think it is.

My order placed 12/16 is already in production :) Not sure how long the build actually takes but I am cautiously optimistic that I'll be enjoying it before the projected 1/5/2012 ship date!

Anyone who receives their Envy this week...please do post unboxing pictures, videos, and initial impressions. I do hope reviews also come up this week. Overall, the Envy 15 looks like the premium choice for a notebook this season, but the only thing I still remain skeptical about is the battery life. I really do hope that HP pulls off the promised battery life for this machine.

All the best to those awaiting the arrival of their notebooks in this festive season!

I'm actually hopeful that with aggressive management of the IPS screen while not plugged in, switchable graphics, and added savings from CPU undervolting along with SSD storage, the Envy 15 battery life will be very good at least for typical Internet/Wifi use. I'd love to be able to bring it to work and leave the AC adapter at home. Display management will probably be crucial as IPS can suck a lot more power than TN.

With 167+ pages and being the best source on the net I just thought it would be interesting to see how many in this forum bought one.

There is nothing else till someone gets one so why not.

I'm currently prepping for the arrival of my new Envy 15. I already bought a new messenger bag and wireless mouse. The only other thing I can think of buying is a matte screen protector. Does anyone have any recommendations for one to buy?

Also, on the software side of things, are there any good guides on doing a clean install of Windows 7 if you DO NOT have a copy of Windows 7? I want to remove all the bloatware while still keeping some of the more vital programs that are pre-installed (e.g. Beats Audio Control Program). Or is just deleting each bloatware program individually a better course of action?

I ordered a 17 3D on Dec 8th at 12:20 PST and my cousin ordered an Envy 17 the night before on Dec 7th (he is not on here, I have been the source of his knowledge and updates for these Envys)

Ok that is 18 as of now.

Just add to the score to make it more understandable.

I am sure there are other sites but what the hell it give me an idea how many pulled the trigger.

    Just for fun anyway! :)

I just got the idea when I ordered mine on Dec 7 and I was only number two that called that day by the sales agent that took my order.

There are instructions in this thread that discuss how to obtain clean installation media.

Also, once you've burned recovery media, you can do a minimal system restoration (named something to that effect) to just install Windows and the basic drivers without all the bloat.

I ordered Envy 15 on 12/12--lost track of the poll so those good at math can do the addition.

Someone mentioned switchable graphics. Didn't think the new versions of the Envy 15 had it. Asked the HP rep when I ordered and she said it didn't. Haven't seen it mentioned. Nice idea on the Envy 14 but always created problems trying to update the graphics drivers. Can't say I ever used the feature that much.

Also, on the clean install of Windows, almost every first page of the myriad Envy 14 forums has tons of info on that process. I chose not to do the clean install as quite a few people lost various functions of the machine and had real trouble trying to get the proper software back and functioning. I just burned the recovery disks, deleted the recovery partition then went through and deleted bloat as I needed--Photoshop, some HP garbage and such. Regained about 25-30 gigs of SSD space.

    Hey Guys

Long time lurker, first time poster. haha. I always got so much info from you guys before but now that there's 165 pages of nonsense in this thread, it's hard to find what I'm looking for

has anyone heard what kind of cooling the Envy 15 is going to have? I'm hoping for two fans but they might have put only one in. I see vents all over the front and side but I think those might be for the beats audio system.

I had an alienware m14x that I ended up selling a week after I got it because the fan sounded like a NASA shuttle launching to space

The real point with switchable graphics is that is switches automatically.
When you just browse the web, the built in graphics (HD3000?) will be used to maximize battery life. When you play some games the dedicated graphics card will kick in.

The Envy 14 did not switch automatically. It had to be reconfigured in graphics settings which was a bit of trouble. I think that is the AMD way; NVIDIA might offer on-the-fly switching. Either way, I haven't found anything to substantiate whether the new Envy 15 has any sort of switchable graphics other than what the HP rep said. It isn't mentioned in the HP description unless I'm missing something.

    Hi,
don't know if its important but in the disassembly guide the envy 17 seems to have 8 vram modules 4+4 and the envy 15 only 4 modules.
    I tough both had 1gb gddr5.

WOW! So some great news on a few things. Make sure you are Not signed into HP and the 30% OFF Coupon DOES Work on HP ENVY 15, ENVY 17, ENVY 17 3D. Best deal since the 33% OFF Most of us got on 12/7. Unfortunately the Care Pack Extended Warranties aren't discounted like before.

HP Coupon Code (released today, Thanks Andrew!):
    NBT3886
(Do not include spaces when applying it and dont expect it to work for Academy, etc, only worked for me when I was signed out initially)

    ENVY 17 3D
    ENVY 17
    ENVY 15

If you want an additional 3.6% OFF you can use FatWallet (they say up to 5% Back but this order showed 3.6% back for me).
You basically register there, then click on Cash Back and click on HP's website. Carry out your order as usual and once your order is placed HP notifies FatWallet. FatWallet then sends you a check (when you request it) after they verify the order and after 90 - 120 Days. I've used FatWallet on 3 HP purchases over past 6 years and can vouch for their awesome service (Have $200+ back on 4 HP computers after this purchase).

12/7/2011 HP $1,671.68 (After Tax) $60.18 Cash Back Pending Reported from HP

Also, some people report using their Discover card gets another 5% back for HP.

If you have good credit, I highly recommend (No Payments + No Interest if paid in full in 12 months with hpdirect.com Preferred Account. $899 minimum Order subtotal.)

    Hopes this helps. Enjoy!
