Doesn't matter if they put a new processor in it. It will still have major quality issues.

HP is HP. No kidding.

I agree that more likely than not there will be a few bad apples in the initial batch released but the bottom line is that IF it does happen you have the option and right to return it and get your money back, or do the whole exchange process. Or if you're like me and you don't trust their repair center/exchange process just return it for a full refund and re order again.
And even tho HP may fail at times they're still way better than dell or any of the other pc vendors fortunately... -

Yep; also waiting when they make an EU fab, where you can also customize your notebook (we now get always the crap, the lowres screens, HDD(no SSD options) and LOTS of RAM, just to 'justify' the insanely high price)
-
The DV6/7 Ivy Bridge is also sighted. -

Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
Granted, you can get stuff like that on sites like Taobao for near-US prices, but it's really easy to get screwed buying electronics on Taobao. -

bump any new info on this? I am waiting for this D:

That being said, if you need a laptop sooner rather than later, I'd just get one. If you wait for the Ivy Bridge, and it doesn't come out until August or September, you might be sad. But hey, if you've got that kind of patience, all the power to you! -

wetwillycf,
You wouldn't happen to be related to yknyong1 would you?
Hint: The avatar.. -
If Ivy Bridge is really June, HP should add the 7750M to the current models while they wait.
-
-
like i already said to be expected, the radeon 7800 gpus are the price/performance stars of the new 28nm radeon 7000 series, and performance wise theyre noticeably stronger than the 6800 series.
since the 7850m/7870m will be based on the desktop 7850/7870 for the first time, i would say we can expect some great gpu performance inside the envy 17, if hp puts in a 7800m again after the 7690m xt flaw.

The trend with ENVY line is that ENVYs do not get refreshed immediately when new architecture comes out.
-
For HP forumnites, if you want to get an idea on how Ivy Bridge will fare, come over!

Ivy Bridge is surely out in April, I have reliable sources for this.
However, any news for ENVY 15 refresh release date? -
-
I would also really like to know if they'll fix the screen in the refresh, and if that would delay it further.
-
-
i cant wait for the refresh
-
Any solid intel on a date for the refresh? or is everyone still guessing late summer / early fall?
-
how is 7750m/7770m going to compare with gt 640m/650m
-
There are videos and pictures of the new Pavilions already available but nothing for the Envy as far as I can see. I hope that doesn't mean they're not intending to update it anytime soon. It may be. The Envy is pretty new, after all, but as far as I know, it's chock full of problems.
I'd really like to get one of the new Envys...
I'd like to see:
Blu-ray drive, dual-band wireless, more i5 options, and put real buttons on the damn trackpad. -

Check out the links on this thread:

Videos are in the first post and there are some photos in other links. The laptops themselves are already on the Thai HP site. -
If HP wants to have a flaw-free screen, they could easily source for a new panel to drop in for the new model.
-
If an Nvidia gt 640m can fit in an ultrabook I'd love to see a 660m in the Envy 15. If they can do that and put a thunderbolt port (thinking eGPU) in the refresh I'd have a hard time not pulling the trigger.
Hell if they brought back the Envy 13 with 35w processors, HD4000 graphics, and Thunderbolt I'd be in heaven. -
-
Same design is actually out of question already since HP now uses their "MUSE" design philosophy.

do u guys think the regular envy 14 will be back on sale after the refresH? I would rather have 14 in vs 15 in college but the spectre is outta my price range and doesnt have the performance i need =\
-
The 15 weighs only slightly more, and I honestly think it's more comfortable in that the weight is more balanced. I use mine for college. -
hmm okay thanks for the reply

... long time lurker, first time poster.
Just as many of you are, I'm impatiently waiting for the new Ivy Bridge Envies to drop. I'm leaning towards the 17 at this point. Particularly if they throw in the 7800M as speculated by some. Just wanted to point out that the document yknyong1 referenced on the original post is a service guide for the current generation of Envy 15. Yet they are listing both a current gen system board HM65/7750M plus the 'next gen' system board, HM76/7750M -- however looking at the current version of the Envy 17 service guide ( http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03178060.pdf) they only list the current board HM67/6770M. Why the inconsistent documentation from HP? Could it be the 17s will not be getting IB until 4XXX series? -
gtx 660m level performance possible? do u think they will fix the screen? how much will battery life increase with the more efficient 28nm cards and ivy bridge?
just cannot wait. again they better release it b4 i go off to college -
So what's the latest on the Ivy Bridge Envy? Given all the new information leaking out about the Pavilion line are there new details about the IB Envy line?
-
Maybe they're taking their time with the Envy series because the pavilion line probably sells better.
Should be soon though! -
I forecast a June 2013 release...
-
I was wondering more about the design/hardware aspects rather than release date. I'm already assuming it will be at least 3-4 months.
Just gonna be hard with all the activity and excitement going on with the new Pavilion lineup...which looks amazing as well. Hopefully the new Envys will match or even exceed it.
NOW AVAILABLE: ENVY 15-32XX Intel Ivy Bridge (AMD 7750M)
