yeah i heard the highest was outta stock. anyway i just used the recent one on their page. u gotta add the line in under the EULA line. and then the 2nd line u gotta change to "1". after that go to regedit search up "enableulps" and change the value to "0". restart ur comp and u should be good to go

Hey. Sorry for the late response, but I personally didn't do the minimal restore. At first I thought it would be work it, however after examining the "bloatware" that needed to be removed, I determined it was much easier to remove the 2 pieces of software myself (One was the Bing Software, the other I forgot...). The Envy doesn't come packed with crap like my DV5 did.

Hey question--which has longer battery life an envy 15-3200 or a pavilion dv6t-7000 (of comparable specs)? and how long are each?

with standard batteries for both, the envy should get more cause it has a cooler gpu and 8 cell vs 6 but if u get extended with dv6, u should get more that way. but then again, dv6 has optimus while we still waiting on enduro tweaks :p

    Hmm, I see, thanks!

Do you know how long each one gets on battery? 6 cell on dv6t, 9 cell on dv6t, and 8 cell on envy?

i'm torn between which one to get, they are both comparable but envy just seems more money

    -------------
so installed the 12.7 beta drivers and i must say there has been an improvement in my gpu scoring lol. lets c if its possible to oc higher now :D so far this is what i got 660/1000: AMD Radeon HD 7750M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3720QM Processor,Hewlett-Packard 1851 score: P2210 3DMarks

i wont be gaming as much, but i do want either one for the screen since they both offer a 1080p display, sound is good but i'll most likely be using headphones so that's not that big an issue. i just want more battery life and longetvity. i currently have a dv5t back from 2008 and love it but the battery life sucks for what i'll need it for the next 4 years.

AOPEN is a business account. AMEX has many different cards as you know. My card is a business card and when I log in there are business partners that give discounts. HP gives 10% discount then my card also gives 1% on all retail purchases. So in total I get 11%.

    3DMark06:
    Stock 575/1000 - 12693 (got 13645 last time tho)
    700/1000 - crash
    667/1025 - bsod
    667/1000 - 13645
    672/1000 - 13719

Will run more tomorrow and see if 3DMark11 is stable at 672 and inch up a little from there if so. Was hoping we would get at least 700/1100 out of this chipset but ah well.

Thanks again for the help PaKii94

Oh, a side note on the ODD. I took an exacto knife and trimmed a bit off the felt today and no problems since. It had reverted back to not ejecting after trying the "flattening" method.

As I say again, anyone who is wanting to buy this laptop, wait until next week for the July 4th promotion.

Anyway, I am going to order the laptop and have it sent to the hotel I am going to be staying in on holiday in the states. I've have got a few qus:

    1) after the initial backlog of delayed deliveries, what is the average time it takes for the actual package to get to your destination from ordering it online? Anyone who probably ordered in the last week would be accurate enough.

    2) Does the HP US site only accept us cards or international cards? Straight forward answer hopefully

    3) Again after the initial wave, with one member saying that HP had to switch production sites halfway through, do you think the laptops now have many/any at all (hopefully) quality issues? This goes to ppl who just got their laptop recently or got a replacement model recently as well? Do you still have any issues on the hardware? What the hell should I do if I get a major problem? I'm only in the US for a week

    4) this is sort of an extension of the first point but, if I order next week, do you think it will arrive to the hotel in time? I am only at the San Francisco hotel from i think the 21st to the 27th. After that I am going to hawaii :D

    Thanks y'all

I can't really answer for 1 as I ordered mine on the 10th of June and recieved mine on the 21st of June which was two days before the scheduled arrival.

However I can definitely confirm that you DO need an american credit card linked to an american bank account. I am currently in Atlanta on holiday and I had to get the people I'm staying with to order it on my behalf, that's what HP even suggested to me.

As for QC, mine arrived pretty much perfectly, had to pop the screen in but that wasn't really an issue to be honest, small price to pay for perfect screen, perfect ports, perfect base etc.

Good luck with the ordering though! hope they don't stuff you around with the address/payment, it really is a great PC!

I can answer most of your Questions. I'm from Canada and ordered my Envy online. However!!! Beware of the following:

    1) You MUST use a US based proxy (IP-Address) to order online (otherwise order by phone) <-- IP address should preferably be based in a city in close proximity to your billing address/shipping address.
1.1) If ordering by phone, call using Google Voice and supply them with a US based phone number preferably.

    2) The credit card MUST be a US-based USD card.... That being said, you can always attempt to purchase a HP gift card and buy the laptop with that gift card, or a prepaid Visa/Mastercard.

As long as the credit card being used has a US billing address on file. I have a free debit card with Harris Bank. I called them up prior to ordering and got my billing address changed to my Kinek.com address, as well as the phone number changed to a Google Voice US number.

    ********
I ordered my Envy on the 9th of June, had an estimated ship date of the 21st with 2 day shipping. It actually shipped out the 19th, however it did get stuck in customs and I received it on the 23rd.

I had no problems with my build quality (other than the bulging screen -- which is easily fixed by pushing on the screen edge with your fingernail to secure the cover back on).

I hope this answers your questions.

I have always found this link to be the most reliable for current codes and their expiration dates. Current code is $400 and looks to expire on 6/30. I will agree with other posts, I'd expect a 30-33% off first week in July.

Received my envy on the 2-day shipping (which was re-funded after payment went through)

It went from Shanghai to Anchorage to Ohio in like 1 1/2 days and beat the estimated date by two.

    Positives:
    Fast Shipping
No Bezel or Screen popping out (that I can see)
    No overly loud noises
The trackpad is excellent (way better than my 3040nr) i think it was bunk

    Netgatives:
Stupid felt is too thick and pushing the CDs back in the drive
Backspace button sticks and is loud and squeaky

I called HP and went through their silly troubleshooting for software issues, when obviously the sqeaky backspace is something to do w/ hardware and they are shipping me a return box (expedited they say).

I am tempted to just use the service manual, pop out the keyboard and try to mess with it. Do you guys know if this will void my warranty even if I have the accidental protection??? Any advice would be good as I'm not excited to wait again.

Wow, quick response, lol. I admit, I skipped watching your videos because I was frantically looking for people with "sticky key" issues. **Watching video now**

I know my 3040nr made the same noise, and I think this one does too...but I don't feel like shutting down now to check....It sounds normal to me, wouldn't worry about it.

I have no USB bulge...and yes I can notice it in the video (as you said, not a dealbreaker), I however use my backspace all the time and it is erking me baaaaaad.

Looking at the service manual, I'd have to dissasemble the service cover, the wifi card, the power button bracket, and then 18 more screws to pull the keyboard out....so I'm not gutting her yet. Otherwise, I still love the screen....I want to put my M4 256db SSD in it soooo bad.

Alright if it makes the same noise then i guess i wont do anything about it. and i feel ur pain. when i first got mine the spacebar was pretty sticky meaning it didnt come back up so when i pushed down on it, it messed up my typing. it seems to be fine now. as for the bulge and the bottom panel jutting out a mm, idc lol. Now if i can solve the stupid felt issue and then i can put it to rest :p.

btw did u get the 32xx cause of ur accidental on the 30xx? im wondering if i accidently "drop" it in a swimming pool when the 4xxx series comes around... do u think they will let me upgrade? :D i got accidental for 3 years... so maybe on 2nd year when they out of quickship 32xxs

i hate how the card seems to refuse to go past 667 while OCing. I think amd might have put some sort of stop so that it doesnt exceed the 7770m -__- I just want supported drivers so then i can get fan control and put idle fan down a bit and hopefully a boost in performance + OC

    I

I actually bought the 3040nr at Microcenter, it was an openbox. I honestly didn't have a problem with the red/orange issue on the display, but that computer only came with a 1yr HP warantee and I had paid microcenter like 180 to extend that to 2 yrs. I decided to take it back to microcenter and order from HP direct.

As for the sounds issue, well apparently only my 304nr had it. I decided to post a short video review to highlight that....guess I felt ambitious tonight.

Hard drive 256GB (Solid State Drive Flash Module)

that HP have in Envy 15??? I know HP always use Intel SSD but I can't find any intel ssd that have 256gb capacity. Is there something wrong here or HP use another brand. Sorry but I don't want to use something outdated :(

From my understanding (reading through thread ...hrs of reading), HP uses a Samsung SSD in the ENVY lineup. I tested a Cruicial M4 on my last envy 3040 and it worked brilliantly. The samsung drives are supposed to be higher quality than crucial and around the quality of Intel SSDs.

Personally, I would spring for a deal online and put it in yourself....All you have to do is create your recovery disks first, install the drive, and boot up from your recoveries....its a snap! :D

Certain upgrades are considered "user customizable", meaning you wont void your warranty if you do them. Replacement the harddrive and memory are two of them that I know of. Also, you can always just keep your old one to put back in if you are worried about this. Make sure to post if/when you see the coupon so I price adjust mine!

Had a run survive at 670/1012 but scored less with 13519 lol...

Like ya say, there's a hardwired ceiling or the chip just needs more voltage to go any higher.

edit: 13724 with graphics drivers set to performance and clocks at 670/1000. I think I've hit the ceiling. Wonder if i set the machine on some dry ice..... ;)

I ordered on June 3 and got mine yesterday. However, I must say that mine is pretty much perfect. Didn't have a single issue with it. No screen bulging, dent ports, stuck DVDs, etc. Ran minimal restore last night and have just been adding my software to it. AMazing machine!

Are you ordering from a U.S. site? I just tried the $400 dollar off code " nbny3238 " and it works fine for me. Takes $400 right off as soon as added. When using the code don't use a referral site, go direct to HP using www.hpdirect. Also there should be a new code on or before the 1st of July so hang tight for a few days for possibly a larger discount if you want to take the chance.

I'm kind of nervous. Should I wait for 2 days for a new coupon code or use 400? Is there a chance no coupon will come out?

I was told that you can price match that coupon within 21 days of receiving the laptop, since that is the return policy. So they would just price match it instead of having you ship back and buy again :D. Sounds like pretty good logic to me.

On the contrary, I will also say that it seems HP is starting to work out some production flaws (optical drive, frame bulge, key board, screen calibration), so waiting wouldn't be bad either.

Like most things, the decision will have to be yours. HP has been doing codes for years, they have been doing 30% plus codes all year and into last year. Will there be a % off code on the 1st, who knows. Will there be a % off code in the future, I would say very high probability. If it was me I would wait if I did not have to have a unit due to cuurent pc is dead. It is a holiday weekend comming up, and the last two codes where $ off instead of % off so I'd guess a % off is due soon IMO.

People on this forum have been successful at that, but I do not believe it is HP's policy. You will have to " negotiate" that. It is true however that if they will not refund the difference you can return and reorder. It would make good business sense for them to give you the difference but we are talking corporate HP here. Logic is not always their answer of the day.

    Hey guys -

My Envy 15 should be arriving Monday, really excited. Instead of buying it directly from HP, I bought a 256gb SSD on my own to save money and am planning to install it.

Instead of creating recovery disks or a recovery flash drive, has anyone been successful with wiping the hard drive, then using the Windows OEM sticker on the bottom to do a fresh boot?
