I just tried that code and it worked fine for me. So I don't know why it wont work for you? Are you already getting some kind of discount, like a student discount?

I know of the solution. First, just add the 15t-3200 to your cart without configuring it. Then apply the coupon. After that, customize it while it is in your cart.

Logged out of HPA and now it works. Sort of silly, really, since the HPA discount on the Envy 15 is tiny anyhow.

I was hoping to order something before my unit arrives so hopefully someone can answer my question. I have two 23" monitors at work that have HDMI inputs. I would like to plug the dual monitors into the Envy when it is at my office. I will not be running any high graphic apps, just excel, word, chrome, et. In addition I would like to do this as cheaply as possible. E-tailers sell a conversion cable with display port to HDMI. The Envy manual says you have to use a hard converter. Has anyone used just a cable or done this cheaply in another way?

    Thanks for the help.

I haven't, but if you're connecting them to proper monitors I imagine they would have DVI? A simple display port to DVI cable would definitely work.

the ultra preset makes it 4xaa/0af but i just made them both 0aa/0af just to get a few more frame rates and now it doesnt dip below 40 and its around 45-50 avg. inside it doesnt dip below 55. and Idk why but i like it better without the aa/af i just find it makes things crisper looking.

u can just play with the regular ultra preset and get like 40 avg, never below 30, etc but yeah

Monitors are proper HP branded, albeit a few years old, however they are only HDMI 1.4 input. I currently run them on an adapter card that has 2 DVI outs, using a cables that go from HDMI to DVI. Etailers sell display port to HDMI cables but the manual sort of indicated that will not @work.

I am considering selling my Envy 15t-3200. Luckily when I received it it had none of the defects people have been describing. After I purchased the laptop I realized that it does not really meet my needs. I am currently on vacation so I won't be available to actually ship the laptop for about two weeks. The laptop was used very lightly for a little more than a week (including gaming tests, so you can be assured it runs quite well). Here are the specifications:

    • Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    • 3rd generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3720QM Processor (2.6 GHz, 6MB L3 Cache)
    • 8GB 1600DDR3MHz System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • 256GB (Solid State Drive Flash Module)
    • SuperMulti 8X DVD+/-R/RW with Double Layer Support
    • 720p HD video streaming webcam supports Skype
    • Intel 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN and Bluetooth(R) with Wireless Display Support
    • 15.6-inch diagonal Radiance Full HD Infinity LED-backlit Display (1920 x 1080)
    • 1GB Radeon(TM) HD 7750M GDDR5 Graphics [HDMI, VGA]
    • Microsoft(R) Office Starter: reduced-functionality Word/Excel(R) only, No PowerPoint(R)/Outlook(R)
    • 8 Cell Lithium Ion Battery - Up to 10.25 hours of battery life +++
    • FREE 2-year Norton Internet Security subscription (a $99 value). Pre-installed.
    • Full-size Radiance backlit keyboard
    • System Recovery DVD with Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
    • Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) Elements 10 & Adobe Premiere(R) Elements 10
    • 2 year limited warranty included
    • HP Home & Home Office Store in-box envelope

I would hope to get around $1800 for the laptop. If you configure this laptop on HP's website, it sells for $1880. Please keep in mind that if you order it from HP they will not ship it until July 12, and it may or may not have certain defects people have been mentioning (The infamous usb dent, trackpad imperfections, screen imperfections, dead pixels, etc.). My laptop, on the other hand, does not have any of these plausible imperfections. Your purchase includes all of the items that shipped with the laptop. Contact me at "[email protected]" with questions, concerns, inquiries, or offers.

Again, I am currently on vacation and will not return to my home until the 13th. If you are interested email me and I will send you the link to the Ebay sale that I will set up when I return home on the 13th. I did not bring the laptop with me on vacation, and is currently perfectly safe and secure in its dust cover, which is why I cannot set up the sale right now. When I return home pictures will be available. The sale will be completed through eBay.

Lol, you could of made the laptop cost cheaper without the SSD, without the extra RAM, and a 2.3ghz i7 quad core instead of a 2.6, it would have came out to $1200.

The price I listed on HP's website is just with whatever coupon they have included. It lists the original price at ~$2129, but they're giving a holiday sale at the moment of $250 off. If they have a different coupon available then great, but I'm not exactly researching that. If you're interested in purchasing please give me the coupon code and perhaps we can negotiate the price a bit.

The laptop doesn't meet my needs in that it isn't as portable as I would have hoped, as I'm constantly moving throughout the day. That said, portability isn't very important to me during the summertime-- I'm more worried about it during the school year, as I'm in college, and I'm on summer break right now so I'm not in a huge rush to sell. Bottom line is I'm out of the 21 day return policy now, and since I got the laptop at a great price I'm thinking I'd be willing to sell it if I could make a profit from it. Again, if you're interested, shoot me an email and we can talk about pricing, otherwise don't bother about it. I might just wind up keeping it if no one's interested.

We have been having problems on Envy forums with flaming. It would be best to not post unless it is constructive as the moderator has put one of the forums on notice.

Search isn't working for me here right now, so I figured I'd ask: what BIOS version are your new Envy's coming with?

Mine has F.05, even though the website says F.06 should be initial pre-installed one. So I'm not sure if I got an old BIOS by mistake or if the website is wrong and is listing some other machine's BIOS.

    Thanks!

Just wanted to chime in guys. Got mine in today. I'm happy to report no issues or defects. No bumps, scratches, dents, pops, squeeks, bleeps, or any of the sort.

I'm only a few hours in of installing all my programs and porting my data over from my other laptop.

I'll post if I have any issues.

Could you check to see if you have BIOS F.05 or F.06?

Just simply update the BIOS. Mine came with F.05 (Envy 17 3200 3D). If you want F.06 just go to the driver update thread.

I know where to get it. My issue with it is that the description on on the website for F.06 is "provides the initial BIOS version", which it obviously doesn't since I have F.05.

I'm just curious if anyone with a new Envy 15 came with F.06 pre-installed. I don't want to mess up my system in case HP put the wrong BIOS on their site.

My Envy is here! It is beautiful! So far I don't notice any build flaws and the colors look great! It was a long wait but worth it.

Edit: Ughhh, spoke too soon! Having the issue with the optical drive foam like others. Has anyone figured out a fix for this? Everything else about my Envy is perfect, I hate to have to wait weeks to get a replacement. :(

Eh 450's a dec coupon. I decided to pull the trigger. Does anyone know whether you can get keyboard covers, case shells (like the ones available for MBPros) and screen privacy covers made for this?

Also to the people that ordered recently, does it usually ship by the date that it says?

Average % off coupon is 30%. Mrrebates adds 3% either way after 90 days. The more you add to the machine in parts the better the % off becomes. % off is pre tax pre discounted price. Configure a machine as you would want to order it, subtract 30% , and see how close to the 450 off you are. Only you can decide if it's close enough. Good luck.

Hey guys, got my new IVB Envy 15 two weeks ago and it had the DVD not ejecting problem and the screen protector not on all the way, was able to pop it back in but not until a lot of dust got in and as hard as I tried, impossible to remove all the dust. I got my replacement a few days ago and everything is perfect except I now I notice something. The sound on my replacement HP Envy 15 is not as vibrant good and notice the backlight of the keyboard is not as bright as my first unit(and yes brightness has been set to max). The sound thing is really bothering me, the difference between the two is significant to my ear. This sucks.

I ordered with the $400 off coupon, so going to do a chat today to see if they will match the current coupon.

Quick question, has anyone else found that the volume is extremely loud on these things? Like when I have my headphones on I have to have master volume set to 2 or 3 out of 100 or else it destroys my ears. Is there any way of lowering the general volume so you can have the master volume on say 50? I've had a look through the sound settings but haven't found anything really useful so far

Yup. Same noise. Only on system resumes though. I don't mind it... Especially that its the only thing wrong with my system.... And personally I don't think its an issue.

The only thing I can perhaps complain about is the sound quality. For some reason I think my old DV5 (from 2010) was better at reproducing audio. I can't seem to tweak my settings optimally yet. Maybe someone who did tweak the audio settings can post a screenshot of the settings they believe is the best. It would be appreciated!

My drive still doesn't eject sometimes even after trimming some of the felt. Will have to take another bit off. The drive is fairly quiet tho. This is my third slot load ODD and all have made a noise as the internal mechanism that grabs the disc and pulls it in goes into action. My Envy 14 was far noisier than this one. The 14 would also make a chattering noise if i picked the machine up by the corner or exerted pressure on the asdf keys with a disc spinning. So far I've yet to see it on the 15.

Guys If I will be doing mostly schoolwork and gaming, will it really be worth the 100 dollars to get the lower end i7? When I purchased my PC last year, the i5 was all you needed for gaming, but I want to make sure that is still the case.

i can get the i5 with 8GB of RAM and a full HD display for 1100 and that seems really nice to me. Im looking at 1200+ for the i7 upgrade

Yes an I5 verses an I7 is still on par with another for 90% of games out there. only games that have large numbers of young or computer opponents really benefit from the size core and its not that big of an increase ether. if your not gonna do and 3d modeling like CAD then just get the I5

As more games start to utilize the quad core Hyperthreading and other programs why limit the unit for $100. Ask yourself how long are you going to keep the unit, battery life, et. Personally I would do the I7 but not upgrade to the fastest. For now I would agree the I5 is fine but depending on how long you normally keep stuff will determine the choice. I7 has been here for sometime so games will utilize its power more and more in times to come. I could go on as to why, blah blah blah but here's a link that may help.

Well I did not realize that the i5 in the Envy 15 is a dual core processor and not a quad core i5.

Honestly I plan on having this laptop for 2 years MAX, I will just be waiting for the hardware to catch up to the retina display on the macbook pro.

My primary concern is league of legends and while I know that it is a non intensive game, I like to have that option for more advanced games in there. But if in the next year or two the i5 dual will be on par with the i7 for gaming, then I will save the money.

Another thing guys, should I leave the stock 6GB RAM in the system and upgrade it myself? Is it easy to upgrade? I feel like paying 50 dollars for the jump to 8GB is kind of ridiculous.

Yeah I was gonna suggest to do a partial trade... Processor for ram downgrade as you can always buy a cheap 4 or 8 GB chip later and install it in a flash. Processor upgrade is not so cheap or easy to do later. Upgrading the RAM is easy . 15 minutes tops. You could buy another 4 and add to the 4 of the 6 that came with the unit or buy a 8 and add it to the 4 that came with it for a total of 8 or 12 and just discard the other 2 that came with the machine.

Okay and upgrading the RAM in the machine is it just a small compartment on the bottom like, lets say, the samsung series 7? Or do I need to take apart the entire bottom and get inside of it? I guess what I am saying is, does HP encourage RAM upgrades with an easy to access slot.

How do you guys feel about HPs accidental damage warranty with in house repair? I was thinking about just doing the 2 year on it since I wont keep it longer than that, and it seems like a pretty good price especially for in house repair and accidental. i was also looking at the premium 2 year with the lojack protections as well.... its only 22 dollars more than the 2 year accidental one.
