It could be time zone shenanigans, as it would have been July 4th in China while it was still July 3rd in Memphis.

Mine just arrived in Anchorage, scheduled to be delivered on Friday, which was my estimated shipping date. Looks like the holiday didn't stop transcontinental traffic, so that's cool.

As folks who have paid excruciatingly close (obsessive compulsively close) attention to these threads may know, I bought and returned two of these units in January because of the orange issue, so will be looking at this quite carefully. Happy to do side by sides with my current Dell Studio 16 RGBLED display and calibrated 24 inch Dell IPS monitor and then compare those to the ones I did in January with the original Envy 15.

The QC issues are annoying, but hopefully it will be nothing more than the DVD eject, which I don't plan on really using anyway, and frankly wish wasn't there to begin with.

ok off the phone with hp. they sending me a replacement and charging me for a new one. I get to keep my current one until the replacement arrives. they will credit me the difference b/w the two laptops when the replacement ships. when i recieve the replacement, i send back the current one to get a refund. they upgraded the replacement to 2day shipping and its estimated shipping on july 16.

this is the interesting part: she was saying that all she could give me is 2 day shipping as compensation but then i babbled on about how its a great product but delayed so much. so bad customer service, bad QC issues, etc. and im like others were getting components upgraded could u give me an upgrade... she like i kinda gave u as much as i could. so im like fine screw the 2 day shipping could u upgrade me to the hybrid hdd? and she like hold on lemme c. and then a min later she said "oops i made an error on ur customization for ur replacement. i accidentally put the regular 720 gb hdd when u originally got the 720gb hybrid *wink wink*" im like yeah i got the hybrid etc.

so in the end she upgrade me to two day shipping (Which isnt much) and the hybrid harddrive which is pretty good :p.

so so far in total savings for my comp its been 33% off(coupon) + 100$ off(delay credits/coupons) + 27$off (15% off beats headpones) +40$ upgrade for shipping + $40 for hybrid hdd. not bad so far... just hate the hassle lol

It hasn't made it to Memphis yet but is in transit but when it gets there they have cleared it in customs. Tracking does not show it is in Memphis, simply that US Customs in Shanghi cleared it for release w hen it hits memphis. Sometimes they do it sometimes they don't to keep smugglers guessing. That's what I make out of it as I saw the same with customs in anchorage, some were pre cleared, others waited to be cleared.

The order may look a little funny, but I think you are crossing the international date line; Jul 4 10:30PM in China is BEFORE Jul 4 3:07AM in Memphis Tn. FedEx tracking is reported in local time by default... you can change that though.

It is very possible it really is in Memphis though. FedX started back up at midnight 7/5 as they were closed for the forth. There system did not update because of this. If it left Shanghi and it hit US soil anytime during the 4th the system at that location may have not updated. Looking at the time it left (Shanghi time) When you wake up tomorrow morning you may be pleasantly surprised I hope. That's my guess. I would still expect it when FedX says it will be there.

    Hey guys,

I have managed to secure at 3200 in Australia (it is a US model but a guy is selling it) which will arrive on Tuesday. I was wondering what sort of internal temps you guys are getting and what would be a stable longterm overclock? I don't want to damage any components as I need it to last 4 years.

Has anyone seen an empirical analysis of the Envy 15 screen? I'm pretty interested in the 15, but I'm concerned about sRGB coverage - in Notebookcheck's review of the Envy 15 3000 it really wasn't good.

My recollection from the 3000 was that color gamut was only around 60%m but haven't seen anything about the new one, though imagine it would be more or less similar. Even Dell's new XPS doesn't come with an RGBLED option any more, so with the exception of the MBP retina, screen quality seems to be moving backwards. Perhaps a combination of cost, thinner enclosures, and battery life prioritization?

For some of you guys that said you wanted a multi 3D display here is a special. I didn't review the specs other than its a HP 23" 3D 1920 x 1080 60hz With two pairs of FPR 3D glasses , new 1 year warranty for $179. It's a WOOT thing.

im getting 655/1000 as pretty stable OC for games and stuff. and after playing around 4-5 hrs of skyrim at pretty humid/hot weather, the highest my gpu has gone is 75C.

for benchmakrs i have been able to push it to 667/1000 but for games 660/1000 works but sometimes crashes

I remember a forum member said they were going to do a Spyder calibration but he hasn't been active on the forums. I'm considering buying one so I can run the tests myself!

I have the Envy 15 (with issues reproducing blue) as well as the Envy 14 Radiance (which covers almost all of sRGB) and i definitely notice a difference as far as gamut and contrast go. I'm getting a replacement in the next few days and hopefully I'll notice an improvement.

Overall I prefer the 15 because of the higher resolution and size, but I do photo editing on occasion which has me a bit peeved after being spoiled by the Radiance. I wish HP had used the same panel in the Asus Zenbook which is fantastic - I'm sure there are those of us out there that would pay Apple prices for a truly professional grade display.

depends on the game. on stock, ultra preset on skyrim hovers around 30 fps so barely playable. with the OC it is hovering around 40+ so yeah substantial improvement from oc. from the drivers idk but tehy prolly contribute like 3-5 fps

Well ain't this about a B*tch! I just ran a crucial scan and found out these d-bags shipped me a combination of 1066 and 1600 mhz ram. Doesn't that automatically downgrade the faster one to the speed of the slower stick? I have very little knowledge about ram speeds though... I don't even know if it's the 2 or 4 gig one that's slower. About to give em a call.

K, just spoke to them, apparently crucial's scan suck donkey cojones... Until I check them visually anyway :p

the dvd drive was going crazy. when a disk was in, it sounded like something else was trying to stop it from going. and any slight pressure on the left side creates a high pitched noise while cd is spinning. the guy gave me the option to get a service guy come over and fix it (cause of care pack) or exchange. he said this problem only with the first few out. I was initially gonna go for sercvice guy but the gu y said i could hold onto the laptop until my replacement came. this laptop does have some minor flaws so im like ok. I also got a free upgrade to hybrid drive :D
    ----

if the new replacement is bad, ill just hold on to original and replace agian until i get the perfect one :p along with free upgrades :D. in the end if i dont get good ones, ill just stick with original, get some mroe omoney off and get the service guy to come

Well folks, got my replacement today and so far I'm a lot happier. No issues yet, and hopefully it stays that way.

Dropped in my SSD and did a clean install, everything is running super fast :D

I'll be happy to answer questions as long as they're simple lol I'm sure others can do the heavy lifting with the benchmarks and whatnot. But if anyone is curious about the replacement process, just know that the ball is in your court and you should absolutely talk your way into upgraded shipping and/or additional credits. Good luck to you guys!

Just burned my restore disks. Ready to nuke any junk programs before I run them and they get in the registry. Is the office 2010 a trial , my guess, or did I get a freebie as I don't remember HP saying it came with a trial version.

    Any other "software/programs" you nuked?

    Thanks

Hey Pakaii94, do you know of a way to have a individual program run on different gpus depending on if the laptop is on battery/ac without making the whole laptop switch gpus on battery/ac. That sounds confusing but can I have program A be on GPU 1 when its on battery and GPU 2 when it's on A/C while at the same time have program B on GPU 2 when it's on battery and GPU 1 when it's not?

Thanks for your or anyone's input.

I don't recall Office 2010 being installed, it was just the trial version to my knowledge. And I didn't make recovery disks, just copied the SWsetup folder to an external HDD and installed the drivers that way.
