i would read what the bios is supposed to fix and ask yourself if u have that problem/would like to have that certain thing fixed. if u cant think of a reason i dont think there is a reason to update the bios... i am on the latest one i believe and so far so good lol (it's been a few weeks). guide below
im on the latest f08 and i still got the phantom keys. qwer12
3qwer12

^
if you press qwer1234 fast check what happens. for me its pressing enter b/w 2 and 3. and i wouldnt trty updating to fo9 cause thats different hardware im not an expert but i dont think they will be compatible.
for the drivers i just have it updated to the latest hp drivers, then i just clean install the new drivers. so for this one, I had 12.8beta installed. i uninstalled all the CCC and then installed the 12.11beta.
as for the bug you mention, im not sure. after installing the drivers there is no monitors on msi afterburner anymore (u can still change clocks with the unofficial OCing). I have only gotten a few mins to mess with it (just enough to run those tests above). ill check temps and voltage differences, blah blah later
i hoped that answered you guy's questions, i am too tired to type anymore
-
in typical fashion, i couldn't wait and just installed them on top of my drivers - no cleanup etc, just click and install. i had one BSOD on reboot, and while i can't see the temperatures, i definitely think the fan is louder. maybe i'll do a rollback in a few.
-
I uninstalled all the AMD drivers, installed the 12.11b, no problems, reinstalled the Intel drivers just to make sure. Ran 3Dmark11 and got similar score as Pakii94.
The funny thing is that i could overclock with Afterburner without disable ulps in regedit.
But, it´s not as responsive to OC as the old driver. I couldn´t get more than 670/1100 stable. I used to get 710/1200 stable with 12.9b.
But the score is ok for the relative low clock AMD Radeon HD 7750M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3610QM Processor,Hewlett-Packard 1851 score: P2671 3DMarks -
Hey guys. Has anyone noticed that the ENVY lineup has disappeard from HP's website? Are they discontinued?
-
Only the Envy 15 and 17. Many other products still carry the "Envy" name.
-
Sorry, thats what I meant.
-
Got mine just in time then!!! They must be revamping the line, but truthfully I'm extraordinarily happy with what i have. There was absolutely no build flaws, and it was so cheap!
My setup:
Core i7-3610QM
8GB RAM
1920x1280
AMD 7750m
750GB HDD
999$ -
damn how u get it so low? i remember the lowest i could get the price with i7+screen and everthing else standard, for like 1199
-
It was a pre-built model they were selling through the Microsoft Store, they ran out of units and shut down the page pretty quick XD.
-
oh ok u got a great deal usually microsoft store overcharges quite a bit
-
ivy bridge brought 10% increase which was pretty minor however the 7750m brought a 100% increase along with a fixed orangegate ips screen
-
Yea it was orginally $1,299 but they were having some sort of $300 off sale on it
EDIT: I did have one question though. How is the beats button on the jogger dial supposed to function... is it touch or pressure? Mine seems to need a considerable amount of force to engage(about the amount needed to click down on the touchpad until right before it clicks)
EDIT EDIT: NVM its working now
-
Guys,
Is it true that hp is revamping the envy 15 and 17? Any one has info? -
the envy line is ended. most likely new premium line
-
There is nothing to Envy about a Pavillion. Well, I guess the disappearance of the Envy 15 is just another reason for me to wait for Haswell. Just half a year to go...
-
I posted this in another thread, but posting it here again in hopes of garnering more help.
So not even 2 months of owning my Envy 15t-3200, the laptop almost died out on me as it gave the "Disk Read Error" and was unable to boot to Windows. After days of fiddling around, I narrowed down the problem to the Hard Drive cable. Thank goodness it's the cable and not the mother board or something. When I wiggle the cable to a particular position, the laptop boots, but a slight change in this position will cause it to fail to read the hard drive again.
So my question is, where can I get a replacement cable? According to the HP manual, I can order the part # 668828-001 which contains a lot of things, including the cable.
My other option is this: Caddy and Cable for Envy 17-3000. The cable is what I'm interested in, and it connects the SATA drive to the HP proprietary socket. But since this is for the Envy 17t-3000 second drive, anyone know if it will work?
-
I have the cable leftover from my caddy when I installed a second hard drive into my ENVY 17t-3200. You can have it if you need it. PM me your address info and I'll drop it in the mail for you.
-
Hi Starrbuck,
you are certainly one of the kindest people I know. I really appreciate your help.
I think you should hold on to the cable because as I have proved, it is prone to failure. It seems mine was twisted too much by the assembler. I have just ordered one from an Amazon dealer, but if that one doesn't fit or fails too.. I'll take up on your offer! -
Happy Halloween everybody... I will be gifting away two copy's of Left 4 Dead 2 only in the HP Envy Forums...
The only requirements are.
1, Pick a # between 1-20. (Only one # allowed per user...)
I have two #s in mind so if you guess right then you win a copy... I will send gifts around 12:00 central time... I am not playing favorites here so everybody has a chance to win as long as you follow the requirements...
I'm posting this in both Envy 15 and 17 forums. So if more than 1 user says the same #. I will chose the person that says it first.

Yes... But I want to give everyone a fair chance to win...
-
Thank you so much for the nice words. I figure the cable is not doing me any good, so why not help out a fellow HP friend. Good point about mine failing so I may need it myself someday. Regardless, you are more than welcome to it if you need it.
-
lol jw i actually do hope more people enter so its a competition. u should prolly make a thread in the envy forum
-
-
who won?
-
Halloween is officially over and so is this contest. The lucky #s were 8 and 18. Thank you to all that participated in this little contest...
Congrats to lvx for getting #8...

No HP Envy 15 in HP Home & Home Office | HP® Official Store Where can I get this.

The Envy 15 and 17 are out of production (at least for now), so you can probably only get it now at retailers that still have stock of pre-built systems.darrylmabini said: ↑No HP Envy 15 in HP Home & Home Office | HP® Official Store Where can I get this.Click to expand...

just tried out crysis 3 beta. im getting 10 fps on the lowest setting and 1 fps on highest. I highly doubt the dgpu is being activated. i dont have time to investigate further right now but i will check it out later
-
Sounds like you are running it on the Intel HD graphics, not the 7750m. Right click on your desktop and choose Configure Switchable Graphics and make sure the program is set for High Performance.PaKii94 said: ↑just tried out crysis 3 beta. im getting 10 fps on the lowest setting and 1 fps on highest. just under normal use I am getting about 45-50C for my cpu cores. My GPU temps only show the HD4000 on hwmonitor,is there a better way to see the temps?
Also, I noticed that my cpu isn't turboboosting, it goes to 2.3ghz and refuses to go to 3.1 at quadcore. Is it due to my temps?
My temps are at about 75-80C at fullish load (is there throttling here that prevents turboboosting?) -
i have gotten to like 102 with prime+furmark running. the cores will never go to 3.1 the 3.1 number is only for one core. i forget what the cores go up to when they are all in loadsechkie said: ↑just under normal use I am getting about 45-50C for my cpu cores. Could someone possibly share a screen shot of the summary page of HWiNFO64? HWiNFO64 Download
I'm trying to figure out whether this computer lists the HDD as SATA 6 GB/s or SATA 3 GB/s.
Thanks! -
Unless your HDD is actually a SSD, or you purchased a retail Seagate XT Momentus 750 (i.e., NOT the hybrid drive that HP offered as an option), it is going to be SATA II, 3G/s. No HDD is fast enough to even use all the SATA II (3G/s) bandwidth ANYWAY. For some reason, the hybrid that is offered as an option from HP, is SATA II (it has different firmware than the retail version - maybe the entire controller board is different... I don't know that for sure). The bay itself should support 6G/s devices however.
-
oo i thought it was the retail hybrid drive. thanks for the clarification :| that reduces the drives price =\Jerohm said: ↑Unless your HDD is actually a SSD, or you purchased a retail Seagate XT Momentus 750 (i.e., NOT the hybrid drive that HP offered as an option), it is going to be SATA II, 3G/s. Whenever I turn on my laptop, and sometimes when booting from sleep mode, my optical disk drive makes this really loud noise. The noise continues for an infinite amount of time, until I knock the top portion of the optical drive with my fist. Then the whirring/buzzing sound stops. It is a really loud sound, by the way. How do I fix this?
-
Anyone know what's going on? It may not be from my optical drive, but it's definitely from inside the laptop. I have to give it a knock from the bottom and it stops.
-
I just got the 2012 Envy 15 and had it for about 3 months, but the backlit keyboard doesn't light up all the way! anyone have any suggestions? I can't seem to find anyone with the same issue. I've attached a picture of my issue. the 2 bottom rows don't light up. View attachment 88741

Hey guys,
Are any of you having problems with audio static/white noise when using earbuds/headphones? Any idea of a fix?
Thanks,
Nick. -

Hey guys considering to buy a Envy 15, but do not know if I should go for the 15t-3000 or 15t-3200. Besides the processors is the gpu between the 2 a big difference? I mean the price difference is only 60 bucks lol, but any insight would be most welcomed!
