I bought 2 dv6t-6190us laptop, delivered 2 days ago. One of the battery is defective, it shows it is charging , but it gets stuck at 94% for 2 days straight, i swapped it into the other DV6 and it does the same thing, won't charge completely. HP battery check software says the battery is fine, Anyone else having same problem?
The good battery fully charged in like 2 hours, tested with both laptop ( on same power cord) so ive ruled out the power cord and the laptop. ;-(

use CPUID hardware monitor to find battery wear level.
mine was (2%) = Designed capacity 55080mWh / Full charge capacity 54379mWh. -
One thing that HP recommends is that you reboot into Safe Mode and let the machine run totally out of power. This should re-calibrate your battery. In Safe mode, the power schemes do not apply, sy you can run the battery all the way down. Then recharge it. Give that a try and see if it cures the issue. If not...I would call HP and see if the battery requires a replacement. Batteries, typically, have a one year warranty...

Does it stop charging at 94%, though? The light beside the power pin on the laptop should turn from amber to white. My dv6 goes to 100% and stops charging, but when I unplug it, it drops straight down to 94%. HWMonitor shows it's charged within 1% of its design capacity, though.
So, all I can say is, check if the battery quits charging. If it does, it's probably fine and there's just something wrong with the gauge. If it keeps charging indefinitely, there's something defective about the battery itself, and you need to get it replaced. -
NEVER let your battery fully run out of power. That can cause damage to the battery. I know sometimes that was a way to fix an issue if your battery seemed to no charge fully, but it still can do some damage to your battery.
In any case, draining your battery so your system shuts down at 3% power isn't a bad idea. -
I had the same problem with my computer, except it wouldn't charge beyond 76%, and the HP Battery check said to replace the battery. Try going into advanced mode for the battery check (options -> advanced) and check the maximum capacity percentage. As for me, I called up HP, and they sent me a battery under warranty (only 6 cell though).
New DV6 , defective battery ;-(
