Nobody has mentioned the camera has been upgraded to HD as well.

Would that be the person who is posting offen, that is usually negative about most things, and/or wants to make other people look dumb in the pursuit of self pursuit promotion?
-
So there were some items missing from my list.
Changes:- Five new CPU options.
- Two new GPU options.
- Two added speakers.
- Two upgraded USB ports.
- One added headphone jack.
- Revised touchpad.
- Improved cooling.
- HD camera.
I guess that does look pretty respectable.
Unfulfilled wishes:- 1080p screen
- Backlit keyboard
- Dual-band WiFi
- Dual 7200 RPM HDs
Does HP sell the HD caddy and cable separately, or else is there a preferred supplier? -
Can we just upgrade the screen ourselves?
-
HP sells the HD caddy kit.

I sent HP an email asking about the refresh, and the dv4 as well, on Monday thinking that maybe emailing them would give them more time to process what I was asking and give me a valid answer. They never responded, even though it said that I would get a response within 72 hours.
-
I sent two e-mails and it took about a week to a week and a half to get a reply from each of them. -
Likewise, after a chat session with HP I was told that I'll get an e-mail with more details. That e-mail is yet to arrive 10 days later.

But price will be discounted like $103 dollars so I end up paying $750 something. (No ram, no HDD, cash discount) - for 30 more I could have gone i7-2630 but i5-2520 is plenty of power already- so take a hike HP! -
I'm thinking about going with Sager too. Too bad they put the nVidia GT540M in the NP5160.
If I go with Sager I'll probably go a step up to the 8130 with the GTX card and the 1080p screen.
Down side to the 8130 is that there is no backlit keyboard (I don't think any of the Sager's have it) and the power brick is gigantic.
Seems like it's impossible to find a 15.6" laptop with 1080p display, DDR5 video card and backlit keyboard all in one package for $1,300 - $1,500. -
Pricing is not released yet but this one fits all the other bills. Could be more than $1500 though.

I already have a desktop rig for intense gaming - battery life on this is still decent and games are still very playable with this. Why spend $1500 on a toy that you would upgrade again in a year or two?

So, I asked him about new model / refresh, which surprise, surprise, he knows nothing about. So, I wanted to ask, would you guys take this deal? Is this a good deal? I'm getting to the point where waiting for this imaginary refresh is just frustrating now. Anybody know of any features in the new DV7 that I thought to wait for? Please advise. -
I sit at a desk all day for work, the last thing I want to do is sit at another desk on a desktop at home after work. I would rather have a laptop that I can sit on the couch with or where ever I want and use. So I need a laptop that I can play games on. I plan to keep it for probably 3 years so I want to buy something that will still perform well in 3 years.
I've read so many bad reviews about Asus customer support that I've pretty much ruled them out. They are also on the expensive side.
I might just have to give up the backlit keyboard and get the Sager 8130. -
Would you post a link to this? I can't seem to find anything relevant on HP's site.
-
Personally I wouldn't bite...I mean the price is tempting for all that but keep in mind that the refresh is almost here. March 13th/14th I believe is when the new g4/g5/g6 models are supposed to appear according to Engadget and I see no reason why the dv6/dv7 SB versions should come out at the same time.
Plus the addition of the usb 3.0 port(s) and the other envy features (no matter what they are) add way more future proofing to the laptop and value.
Thats just my opinion tho. After waiting for so long I think you'd be wise to wait just a little bit longer. If nothing is out by March 15th then go ahead and get whatever you want. -
I bought from newmodeus.com. Be sure the HP HD kit is the one for your laptop. For instance HP DV7 gen 3 , 4, 5 used different kits. I think 4 and 5 gen used the same kit, longer cable. My dv8 and dv7 gen4 used different kits. DV7 gen5 is the redesign of the dv7 sandy bridge quad with the chipset design flaw. I returned mine.
-
Does anybody know what the new model number (internal or external) is for the yet unreleased DV6t SE? If it is known, then we could use that number when dealing with sales people, etc....
-
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
Not like it would matter. The response would still be,
-
anyone know if/when an ENVY 15 might be released? could it be good waiting for?
-
I don't think I specifically said I would be asking about release dates, so it could matter. Considering I have e-mailed sales about features, not release dates, the specific model number would come in handy.
-
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
I didn't ask about the release date, either. I asked about the differences between the old dv6 and the one in the demo and that is the answer I got.
Edit: Just noticed that HP came out with a new round of $300 coupons today that expire tomorrow. Maybe Sunday will be the release? -
I really hope so! Do HP coupons usually expire so soon? If not, then this could be it.... maybe.
-
Is there a particular site you watch that stays up-to-date with the latest deals? I know many sites feature HP coupons, and they're not hard to find; but if one place is reliable I'll put it in my favorites and not have to Google any more.
-
I can't take credit for finding this; only for repeating it:
this appears to be a good site -
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
Dealigg is what I usually use.
-
+1
Dealigg is also what I use.... -
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
Does anyone remember if the dv4 was listed on that "New from HP" page posted a while back?
-
No it was not there! Only DV6 Select Edition, DV6 Quad Edition and DV7 Quad Edition was there.
Dv6 Select Edition was there with features mentioned using 2nd gen Intel i-core Processors but when you click on the Buy Now Link, it would take you to the last years Dv6 SE page.
M so irritated waiting and i get more frustrated that the upcoming DV6 fits best in my needs ( within my budget as well! ). Damn you HP! -
Hey everyone. SO I just watched the demo video for the dv7t Quad Edition and I don't know if this has been discussed already but the picture that HP has up there is of a silver looking/aluminium like color laptop.
However the demo shows a laptop with the black coloring that Engadget had an article about saying that the dv6/dv7 would look like.
Also the demo (under the Details tab) shows that the dv7t Quad Edition with the Sandy Bridge processors ALSO has USB 3.0 ports.
So I"m wondering if anyone has ordered the new dv6/dv7t and if so when is your expected ship date?
I'm curious to see what the laptop you get will look like and if it has USB 3.0?
Cuz at this point the only reason I'm truly interested in the Envy line is the 1080p display and the possibility of a stand alone 256GB SSD. I've been going to Best Buy for the last few days to look at the laptops they've got their with a 1600x900 display and I can't decide if I truly like them or not lol.
Most important to me tho besides the USB 3.0 port and resolution is the heat factor. It looks like you current owners are having temperature issues? Especially while playing games like SC2? I'm waiting to see if there will be a physical hardware redesign that reduces the heat significantly... -
It's almost like, as far as HP is concerned, the new computer is out already, hence why it was removed from that pre-order page and why the demos are different. But if it's so out, where are the options for the Sandy Bridge i5 processors and why aren't the pictures different?
This is the kind of crap that makes me not want to buy from HP. -
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
Yeah it is pretty annoying. Every rep I have talked to, except 1, has said that the one in the demo is the one that is shipping but then I ask them about the USB 3.0 and they say that only the QE has it. Then I ask about the casing and they say that it is a brushed aluminum/silver etching. They either don't really know or are just flat-out lying.
Oh well, here is to hoping that the dv4/6/7 will be available when I wake up tomorrow. Part of me thinks they will be, because of all the coupons recently released, but another part says that other manufacturers aren't releasing their 2nd gen Core-I notebooks until mid-March. -
New pavilion dv6 in my country~~~
Bundle Details - HP Online Store
3999 MYR = 1320 USD
Comparing to the previous dv6-4001tx, i found that price is hard to swallow. -
Wait its available there
? It looks like it atleast, so it should be very soon here in the US
.
-
Does anybody know if there's a way to buy from hp.com while not in the USA? I can neither customize a laptop nor use a coupon from hp.it (Italy).
-
Guess I shouldn't be surprised, no 1080p and it doesn't say anything about the keyboard being backlit.
I may be going with either Sager or Asus. -
It still does not show all options though so we still have hope for a backlit keyboard but I would say no 1080p for sure.
-
For some reason, Malaysia and/or Singapore are always the first to get the latest HP laptops.
-
I spent much of day Friday trying to confirm things and I can pretty much assure you that the pre-refresh model is still shipping to the US. That is NOT to say we aren't just dazes [SIC] away from the switch over. I suspect the halting of Sandy Bridge units earlier this year screwed with the rollout timing. For me, none of the 'demo links' function at all ... so I assume things are just hanging in the balance to be updated. I ordered on Mar 2(/Sched Ship Mar 16) and certainly could wait another month... I am in no big hurry. USB 3 is kind of important to me, but the device I would use has problems with the Envy usb 3.0 ANYWAY, so maybe it is a moot point.
-
New coupons which expire on... March 31st.
They're not coming anytime soon. If you're looking for these, you should probably just forget about it, since HP obviously pulled a bait-'n-switch. I wouldn't give them another cent after this crap, personally.
-
They did some changes to the website today. A new 3 day sale out there to get out the old DV6t and DV7t series and also changed the HP Total Care Logo All Around. And when the Dv6-6001TX is available in Malaysian Store, then why is not yet available anywhere else? Will it take them too long to put it up on the US Site?
Any other instances of other pre-configured DV6 and DV7's? It should confirm the rest of the specs for us atleast? -
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
Dealigg says they expire on the 13th. The only place I see reporting the 31st is TechBargains but they also say that the coupons have a max of 450 uses. HP also changed the front page advertisements and they have a 3-day sale on the dm4 and dv6/7. I think I should be pessimistic but I don't know about them not coming anytime soon. I still think mid-March at the latest. I do honestly believe that the new dv6/7, and hopefully the dv4, are ready for release, but HP is just trying to clear its stock.
Regardless, the old dv6/7 or dm4 are looking attractive right now. You can get a pretty good configuration for $700 with the $300 off $999 or more coupon. -
Wow...
Sad to say...but....no backlit keyboard could be a deal breaker for me...
But there is still hope since the trackpad was lit....and none of the demo's have it. I also wonder if the touchscreen is gone. I can live without the touchscreen, but the backlit keyboard is a must. -
I would have already purchased the old dv6 if it weren't for that god-awful trackpad...
But now I'm just waiting to see if the new one has a backlit keyboard. That's literally the only thing I want to know, because that will make my decision between the new dv6 and the Dell L502x. -
Can someone tell me why on HP's website for the dv7t quad edition ( HP Pavilion dv7 and dv7t Quad Edition series | HP Official Store) the product demo is the new one but what they are selling is clearly the old one from back in January?
Any updates on a release date?
By the way, from the looks of it, no backlit keyboard, no higher res screen, and no high end graphics card
new features: USB 3.0, switchable graphics (what does this mean exactly? better battery life?), and coolsense. will there be a dual-band card? doubt it
For those having problems opening the product demo, here is the direct link: http://h71016.www7.hp.com/html/inte...bk/dv7_noacc/pdp/flash/csmr/idp&usePopup=true
Specs of the NEW dv7 (compare to overview and specs on HPs website and to product demo): http://h20424.www2.hp.com/campaign/.../resources/HP_Pav_dv7_2pp Brochure_FA_web.pdf (very slow to open)
I have a feeling that the new laptops are coming out next sunday (march 13th), but that's just a guess... talked to an HP rep today, she said "spring", which could be anytime -
Screw it, HP has lost my business. As soon as the Asus G53SW is available with Sandybridge i7 I'm ordering one up with 1080p display, GTX 460m, blacklit keyboard, etc, etc, etc.
-
If you've read the thread, you will see that the demos came out a couple weeks ago, but the actual products aren't yet available. With regards to any of the options that were available on the Select Editions, we can't make any assumptions until we see their specific specs and options.
-
So the website is basically screwed up?
-
It has been for quite some time now.
-
I only wish HP was looking at this site...
I practically live down the street from HP headquarters, I wish I could go down there and ask them "W.T.F.?!"
