And you know that none have been shipped how?

It looks like with the Dell XPS 17 you can not get the Full 1080P HD screen UNLESS you get the XPS 17 3D model.
They offer a backlit keyboard on that as an option for $40.
But I think that XPS 17 hit some major ugly tree branches.
I hope at LEAST HP offers the backlit kb as an option and I can order and put in the part myself!
I've been following this DV7 for the past couple of months and against the competition (Toshiba Qosmio, Dell XPS 17, Asus G73 1600x resolution screen model) it is a damn good bang for the buck at $1000.
Once you start looking for a 17" laptop with a Core i7 processor and pretty well loaded for $1000 to $1200 your options are pretty well limited.
I am getting a new lappy from a 4 year old Dell XPS M1710 so I am stoked. -
City,
I ordered one the day that the new SB DV7 hit the website (Feb 27, as I recall.) No shipment notice has been e-mailed to me. I assume that the 3/12 estimated ship date on the order is still good.
FYI...dlleno has a reputation for being pretty solid on his facts. For wild speculation and irrational exuberation there are plenty of other characters on this blog... -
Tell me more coastal! When ordering my DV7qe there was no backlit keyboard option. Can you order a replacement backlit kb from HP?
-
(this is regarding the Envy 17)
Because all of the confirmed ship dates thus far (reported here) are in the future, no one has reported a shipment notification, no one has yet received their order, and there have been no sightings in the wild.
It doesn't mean they aren't building them or prepareing to do so, it just means they are still recovering from the SATA disease setback. Things will loosen up soon, though. -
Yes, you can.
-
If that's the case, then no one will have the new model in their hands until late April/early March at the earliest, and they probably won't even be available to order until early-mid April. :/ Why did they even bother announcing them...
-
To advantage their recovery from the SATA disease and to keep pace with the competition, I assume. The Envy 17 release has been horribly confusing as well
-
Screw it, I'm just going to order a Sager NP8130 with Full HD display and GTX 460m video card. Only down side....no backlit keyboard, which I will miss a ton =(

How did you jump to that conclusion, if you don't mind me asking? -
Well, if they haven't even shipped any of the current ones and they're all in a queue, then I don't see any way that the new models, which would be in the bottom of the queue, could possibly be shipped this month. Maybe they'll be put on order, but if they aren't on the site this weekend, there's no way any will ship before mid April.
-
Just for comparison the Dell L502x's available to order today have a ship date of March 30th.
-

That is about when I expect the dv6/7 and Envy 17 to ship if they come out this weekend. -
How could they possibly ship the same day as the current models? It'll take at least an extra week.
-
I haven't read the whole thread but I am guessing it hasn't been released in the US yet? Anyway, looks like it's just been released in Singapore. The specs are slightly different i think. Does anyone have any reviews of this laptop?

Because I don't think building time is a problem, materials are. As long as they have the materials needed in stock I think they could easily get them shipped at or around the date as the current ones. -
I order my dv6 quad edition like 4 days ago with an expected ship date of march 24th, I just got my email today that it has been shipped. I will be of course returning it for the march release when it comes out.
-
update: over in the SB Envy section, the first (known) shipment has been confirmed for today 3/10 , and the owner is expected to receive his new Sandy Bridge Envy 17 3D on 3/13.
-
Hm. This makes me more hopeful.
-
To clarify, does this mean "Yes, you can order a separate backlit keyboard," or "Yes, you can order a separate backlit keyboard from HP?"
I had the same question regarding a second hard drive caddy kit. There was some confusion over whether HP sells parts itself. I would prefer to supplement my PC with factory parts rather than third-party options if possible. -
You can order the spare parts ie the backlit keyboard or caddy kit directly from hp.

Current SB models are starting to ship. Looking more and more like a mid-March release
-
Just for comparison:
Sony is going to release it's new F-series and C-series on March 13th, according to the video about the new S-series.
According to an article I read, Dell is releasing SB Inspirons and the new Latitudes next week.
At the end of March, Lenovo's new ThinkPads will be available to order.
With all that, the HP better come out this month!
Especially if the G-series is due on March 13th...
-
yes the first (known) confirmed ship date for SB Envy 17 is today, with Fedex shipment Monday
-
On HPs website, for the dv6/dv7 qe's now have the picture of the model they are currently actually selling (previously they had the future version), however the demo is still the future version.
if this is all to get rid of stock i think HP did a dumb job of it, because a lot of people would not buy this current laptop knowing a better one is coming out, they shudda kept it quiet. -
yea I think its funny too. but a bonus, for those of us who read closely, that we get a preview of what the new ones will be like!
-
Yeah I just visited the site yesterday just to see if there had been changes and I also noticed that they've got the OLD picture up there.
However I wonder what it really means....does it mean that those people who bought the dv6/dv7 Select QE will be getting the silver colored old style laptops?
Although I like yall knew better I wouldn't be surprised if some other consumers are expecting the black finish and will shocked (probably pissed off too) at the silver look.
HP in short needs to stop with this nonsense...
And while I know the chances are 0 that this will happen I'm still praying that God delivers a miracle and offers the option of a 1080 display with this laptop come Sunday/Monday.... -
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
I don't remember the black finish ever being there in the picture, though that is the one that has been shown in the demo for a while. I think it obviously means that the ones shipping now are the silver ones.
-
Awesome. Can you provide a link to an HP page where these are sold? I've looked under All computer accessories, but didn't find these items.
-
they are in the HP Parts Store - HP Computer Parts - HP Printer Parts - Compaq Parts ... you have to know the part number, they are in your service manual of your model.
-
Thank you. I appreciate it.
-
It was in there for the Quad Editions, not on the page for all the pavillions, but rather only when you clicked on them and went to their respective pages. Now the one on the pavilion main page and the individual page are one in the same (silver).
I kind of like silver better, but all the videos, and the hand's on demo were all black. Idk what's gonna happen. -

If HP is anything like Dell you will have to call their spare parts division to order it. And even then they will take about 30 minutes to understand what the hell you are talking about and what computer you are trying to order it for...lol -
Bundle Details - HP Online Store
That price is so tempting
~~~~ Planning to ask my friends to get it for me~~~
1499 SGD = 1180 USD = 3590 MYR -
Hehe... Good luck about that ... when it comes to HP, they just redirect you.
-
HP is nothing like Dell and that is why I like HP products. lol.
-
Prices just jumped about $200 on the DV6SE with the old pic and options. If you select it to customize, the price shows at the old $749. Me thinks someone is messing with the site, hehehe.
-
I sure hope it's this weekend!
The new Toshiba Satellites (and Qosmio) came out today even though there were rumors it would take until April
-
Does anyone know if there will be any coupon codes (like the ones that are out now for $300 off) when the new models come out ? If not, perhaps I will have to wait
-
The Select Editions seem to be on the way out, based on them both requiring the 5650 to be chosen and the dv6tse requiring a quad-core CPU to be chosen (hence the price jump). This is promising.
-
The forced quad-core appears to be a result of the graphics card only. Since the 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5650 is the only card available for it.
-
they might - as they went to sell as many other manufactureres are coming out with their refreshes the same time - calling a sales rep and asking for the discount usually works.
-
Yes, but before there actually was a dual-core + 5650 option. *points to signature*
-
abaddon4180 Notebook Virtuoso
Maybe we won't have to wait until Sunday. With all the changes to the site the release might come tomorrow.
-
Or maybe they just have some last-minute 5650 stock to clear. :/
-
Hehehe, I know. I was just pointing out that technically, the processor choices were all still available, but any non-quad conflicted with the only graphics card choice currently avail.
Don't be dashing my dreams -
Either way, it's probably coming this weekend, Monday, or next weekend. -
Now the price dropped $50. I bet things are happening this weekend.
New Pavilion DV7/DV6 available this spring unveiled!
