As an FYI, I did not need Test Mode as long as you "allowed unsigned drivers" when the dialog pops up. (Windows 7 x64)
ChrisREDb that looks right. you don't have to do manual, you can just run the preview setup once you overwrite the Drivers folder with the zipped one.

WORKING!!!! thanks a lot and the only different thing ive made is
this two lines in a command prompt cmd
bcdedit.exe -set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS
bcdedit.exe -set TESTSIGNING ON
then it worked but theres a problem in my screen appeared test mode
but all looks normal is there any way to solve this
and boot normally without this -
HERES a guide to help all hp envy 15 users to install the driver correctly
thanks to wild05kid05 and brto2
ENVY 15 HD4830.docx -
Glad to see it worked for you. Thanks for the guide. Just what we needed. Use DSEO to disable test mode and remove the watermark on the bottom of the screen. You didn't need it to install the drivers
Driver Signature Enforcement Overrider 1.3b
@wild05kid05 - You're right that chips from the same family can overclock differently. But you memory clock is mighty! And whilst i can get my gpu up to 635mhz and the ram up to 935 mhz now, the gddr3 ram is the bottleneck with the hd4830, and any extra mhz helps! -
EDIT: Enough people have reported good results for me to make and upload a new driver package worthwhile....
Here is the link for the catalyst 11.10 pre2 (8.901.2) drivers with the modified infs already copied over (Windows 7 x64 only!)- http://www.multiupload.com/YUMXX0BPVH
Prerequisites: HP Catalyst 10.3 (8.712): ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48247.exe. Install these first and restart
Just extract and install over the top of the HP drivers using setup.exe and "allowed unsigned drivers" when the dialog pops up during installation
You do not need to do anything else - don't bother with test mode, you don't need it for these drivers to work.
Just to remind you whilst people have got good results with these drivers (i.e. they work), you are trying these at your own risk. Make a backup first! And don't sue us if the sky falls on your head as a result of trying these. I have no money to give anyways lol.
Please tell us your results with these drivers regardless of whether they work or not.
Thanks to Wild05kid05 for his work, lokitious and pstils for their work in making the install easier and chrisREDb for his guide
@wild05kid05 - edit your post on the first page with this -
This is the first time I have been successfully able to install anything other than HP's drivers. Thanks for all the work you have done.

but if you prefer use it at your own risk ath the same that driver and guide

The driver 11.10 Pre3 Working Perfect!!!
Thanks guys~~~The bench mark of sf4 is above 8800 and the COD6 can open 4xAA without lags.
Great!!! I didn't overlock my GPU cause I didn't have any experience on it. -
-
Now trying overclock my 4830, but it keeps failed. Strange.
and the Catalyst Controller Center can not be opened. Don't know why~~
But everything else is perfect!! Trying to Fix them now, any advice??? -
Have you ran the setup for catalyst 11.10 pre3 ? If not do a restart, run it and untick driver update
-
I didn't run the Setup from 11.10 pre3, just install new driver manually following the instructions.
Tried remove CCC but keep Display Driver, and re-install CCC from AMD, Still not work~~
Should I remove everything related to AMD and re-install?? -
Will reply later~ -
-
I'm sure of the problem, but what I would do is revert everything back to the previous state, and start again from there ( run pre3 setup without updating the driver, after the package is installed, do a manual update of the driver) -
. I'd had enough of mucking around with inf files and rebooting to find a bsod
-
Oh man, I just tried BF3, wonder if it's my gpu or the game is still buggy

UPDATE 5: ATI Catalyst 11.11 Preview

BF3 Performance improves a bit -
Where do I get the appropriate overclocking tool? (Which AMD GPU Clock tool version?)
Thanks! -
-
Hi all! I'm glad I found this thread. Updating envy15 vga driver has been a headache for me
.
For people who susccessfully updated, did you notice any difference in gaming performances? Pls post here any fps difference between the 8.712 and the 8.920 drivers that you experience. Thanks a bunch -
)
-
I don't get it... -
And don't ever expect our envies to run this game on 1080p ...... I'm running on 1280x720 and everything on low. Still get 15fps when there are bunch of firings.
Let's wait and see if 11.10 WHQL improves anything ...
Do you have 11.9 CAP4 installed ? -
Ya.. I have CAP4 installed..
What settings do you end up using? 'low on everything? / medium? auto?
I'll try the OpenGL file.. thanks. -
the lowest setting you can imagine lol
-
yeah too slow to play and enjoy it... im thinking about buying mwf3 because of its low requirements
-
I managed to play through campaign and enjoy it, but multiuser crashes way too often for me with 11.11... is 11.10 pre3 any more stable?
-
I found that sometimes the cpu is bottleneck, it gets lazy when it feels like there is nothing to run at full multiplier. I tested with ThrottleStop and it kind of worked. But make sure you have a good cooling system before you use ThrottleStop.
And for the gpu, i discover that only when the whole map gets a lot destruction, fps starts dropping. -
UPDATE 6: ATI Catalyst 11.10 WHQL
=> Build info:
8.902-111012a-127455C-ATI
DriverVer=10/12/2011, 8.902.0.0000
Sign date: October 27 (Microsoft WHQL) -
Weird.. with 11.10 I'm seeing bluescreens in BF3.. (without overclocking or anything).
Any particular catalyst or bf3 settings people are using?
Man.. I will never buy anything based on ATI EVER again.... -
I think it's overheating lol, im running on all low msaa and af off, no motion blur at 1280x720p. Last time i overclocked and my gpu overheated -> bsod.
It's actually the game, we are using two-generations older gpu ...... -
Mine used to overheat as well regardless of clock speed to the point where it would shutdown at ~112C. Raising the back of the laptop seemed to help, but i wanted a better solution - having an expensive laptop perched on top of a book doesn't look good.
I reapplied thermal compound to both cpu and gpu and removed the cover underneath the keyboard. haven't seen my gpu exceed 80C since (max 76 w/ overclock, 72 without). Even my cpu takes longer to heat up than before (still hits 90C but takes a lot longer to get there).
I don't know exactly what made all that difference, i expect a combination of the two things i did. I know that air now can enter through the keyboard, as when i use compressed air to get rid of the dust in my fan recently, dust ended up coning up through the keyboard. Used ICD7 as the thermal compound.
This is probably not a trick for those who eat at their laptops, as you will realise if you do decide to take that cover off the underside of the keyboard, It will be caked in dust and food and whatever else makes it through the gaps between the keys - but i have no regrets - it's been six months since I've done this and i have yet to find a downside.
EDIT: Oooooh new driver! Let me go and try.... -
thanks for the update bf3 runs slow and can you post the inf file for windows 7 that one from first page is for vista
-
Hi wild05kid05 i hope you can help me out
I have a problem with my envy 15.
When i install catalyst on both the newest hp drivers 8.712 and 11.10 whql. It says that the installation is successful but the ccc application won't start?
I am running on the newest HP drivers now without catalyst. But when i try with the newest 11.10 whql (w. your instructions) it gives me a code 52 in device management is it possible to run the newest drivers without ccc?
It seems that it is a common problem but i cannot solve it with uninstalling all ati drivers with CCleaner, driversweeper etc.
Have you run into that problem?
Kind regards
Tim -
@ChrisReb: just run the vista one, it works fine, i couldn't get the C7xxxx.ini to work, it kept saying incompatible. And oddly, the CHxxxx.ini (vista) works fine...
@theslim: I'm sure you can always run the driver without CCC, regarding CCC it's common problem and you google it. For the code 52, try download dseo then run it -> enable test mode > restart > install the driver through device manager -
is there anyone care to run an experiment for me ? I'm testing new modified inf
-
I can.. bfaber at bfaber dot come if you want to just mail it...

Works here with the Oct. 12 2011 atikmdag.sys. Have aero and all that working. Need to find a benchmark now.... what do you use?
-
i dont use any.... I have really no idea what's the difference
-
'was uninstalling everything and running DriverSweeper before letting win7 load 8.712 and then updating to 11.10.. (to see if it fixed my bf3 problems).
My question is... what's the exact correct method for such a paranoid upgrade?
(wondering if my problems were update related... I never saw crashes on any other update then 11.10 so I was suspect it was some 11.11pre back to 10 problem?)
edit: 'Just figured out ccleaner probably referred to the actual program cccleaner.. not one of the driver-cleaner variants... nevermind my question -
