    To ADMIN : sorry if this is the wrong place to put this , please move to a more appropriate place if this is the case.

    Just thought I'd pass this on to all , spent a few hours scratching my head as to why my Wireless Assistant and Power Assistant took about 2 mins to load after booting, which is a pain in the BUTT :D if you turned WLAN off before shutting down PC , as you have to wait for it to load before you can turn WLAN back ON :(

    NOTE : Only use this if you do not have WWAN, as this delay is to allow time for the WWAN to initialise.

    How to fix the Delayed start on Wireless Assistant version 4 when you don't have a WWAN/Mobile Internet SIM card fitted.

    DelayedAppStarter.exe

    THIS SHOWS HOW TO MAKE WIRELESS ASSISTANT AND POWER ASSISTANT APPEAR FAST<<< YOU DO NOT HAVE TO DO BOTH>>>unless you want to.

    Also check SERVICES under Administrative Tools ( or type services.msc into "Search programs and files " box and hit Enter ) , look for HP Wireless Assistant and right click and select properties. When the box opens look for " Startup Type " change this from Automatic ( Delayed Start ) to Automatic ,via the dropdown menu , apply and OK. You may also have to do this for Power Assistant if you use it .Close Services .

    Go to this registry key and change the values :

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

    In the right hand pane you will see these keys ( and a few others ) only change the values as shown below.

    "HPWirelessAssistant"="C:\\Program Files\\Hewlett-Packard\\HP Wireless Assistant\\DelayedAppStarter.exe 120 C:\\Program Files\\Hewlett-Packard\\HP Wireless Assistant\\HPWA_Main.exe /hidden"

    "HPPowerAssistant"="C:\\Program Files\\Hewlett-Packard\\HP Power Assistant\\DelayedAppStarter.exe 120 C:\\Program Files\\Hewlett-Packard\\HP Power Assistant\\HPPA_Main.exe /hidden"

    Both the above keys are set to 120 (seconds) as std eg :

    DelayedAppStarter.exe 120

    Change Wireless Assistant to 10 , and HP PowerAssistant to 20 ( I have quite a fast HP 8740w Quad , so you may need to change these values to suit a slower booting machine )

    "HPWirelessAssistant"="C:\\Program Files\\Hewlett-Packard\\HP Wireless Assistant\\DelayedAppStarter.exe 10 C:\\Program Files\\Hewlett-Packard\\HP Wireless Assistant\\HPWA_Main.exe /hidden"

    "HPPowerAssistant"="C:\\Program Files\\Hewlett-Packard\\HP Power Assistant\\DelayedAppStarter.exe 20 C:\\Program Files\\Hewlett-Packard\\HP Power Assistant\\HPPA_Main.exe /hidden"

    ReBoot and watch Wireless Assistant and Power Assistant appear really fast during boot :)

    If you don't know how to use regedit , and are unsure of playing in your Registry then leave alone or get a mate to do it for you.It is also advisable to do a System Restore point BEFORE any playing with registry settings so you can always go back if you get it wrong.However this is a very simple registry poke and should only take 10 secs to do.

    I like to be able to Disable my Wireless and leave BlueTooth on as I use a BT mouse so the " Keyboard On/Off " key doesn't really work for me.

    If this has helped you please add to my REP on the left , any probs try a PM and I will try and help :)

    I dont even install HPWA, it seems unnecessary to me. I can do everything it does without it. For turning off bluetooth alone i just click on its icon and select "Turn Adapter Off". I can turn both (wireless and bluetooth) by the network disabling/enabling key provided on the keyboard. I never needed any more than this. Works perfectly for me, without the need of bloatware (HPWA).

    Cool so if you don't use this Software WHY REPLY ? It's not for just YOU it's for those of us that have no choice but to use this to turn BT on and off, or for those that like it's simplicity, and was a quick tip for those that were having to wait for it to load as HP has decided to make it DELAYED START for everyone whether they have WWAN or not.

    This may not be what YOU want but I like to use this Software and I like to be able to Disable my Wireless and leave BlueTooth on as I use a BT mouse so the " Keyboard On/Off " key doesn't really work for me. :confused:

    I didnt know u would be annoyed by my post. Anyway i replied to tell people with my situation, a better way to do things.
    And for ur situation i have a suggestion - You can create a shortcut to disable wireless adapter through device manager. You can google for tutorial, its easy, i did a quick (may not be the best) search for u - Names are Hard: Shortcut for enabling/disabling wireless device (or any device)
    That way u too wont need the bloatware for such simple things.

    Sorry you misunderstood I am not annoyed atall :D Just disagree with " a better way to do things"

    The idea of having 2 extra icons ( BT and Wireless ) on my Desktop to turn each device on/off seperately sounds a bit overkill ;)

    I would rather just right click an extra icon in system tray and choose which to do what with :D seems much easier to me .

    2 ways to do the same thing it seems , lets just agree to disagree :cool:

    Isnt it possible in ur system to right click the bluetooth icon (in notification area) and select "Turn adapter off"? If not then its ridiculous.
    U can pin those shortcuts to taskbar for more convenience. And i dont think its an overkill. HPWA is the overkill.
    Anyway, its ur choice.

    Hi Guys
    I sit with a little problem. I have a HP 2760p tablet and have the latest HP cm4.2 installed. The company used a VPN to connect to the network. When I put in a 3 g SIMM that does not have the VPN configured on it it works fine, but if I put in a SIMM with a configured VPN it does not seem to work.
    1. How can you configure a SIMM card in hpcm 4.2 with a VPN configuration.
    Thanx

    HP 3D DriveGuard is a driver + software combination; you can find this in the individual driver threads (under HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor).

    Does anyone know what is going on with the HP On-Screen Display Utility? Looks like the link to 1.30 is broken. Does this mean an update is imminent?

    EDIT: Link appears to be restored. Still 1.30.
