I need wireless assistant, if not Connection Manager always recognize Wireless as disconnected from power button, and it is enables, I reinstalled Wireless assistant and it detects wifi just fine. So I unistalled it and left just Wireless Assist.

    • Updated Essential System Updates for Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 to version 2.00.1.1.
    • Added HP On-Screen Display Utility version 1.2.2.

In order to properly install this version of ESU, Windows 7 Service Pack 1 must be installed. Post-SP1 fixes are included in the package:
Also, the HP OSD Utility update will only work with newer notebooks - see the CVA/HTML notes for a full list.

I reproduced the issue on my notebook and I've restored HPSA version 5.2.9.2. HP may have taken down the initially compatible version of 6.0.5.4 for some reason.

    Thanks for reporting! :)

Tried to install this package, and I seem to be getting an Error 1605 message. This problem does not happen with version 5.2.9.2.

I swear 9 times out of 10 that I go to download an update from HP their FTP is down. Very frustrating...

    Edit:
It was a case of the early morning stupids effecting me... one of Peerblock's blacklists apparently blocks HP's FTP server.

    Hi, thanks for this forum.
I have a little problem with the latest Hp MediaSmart Webcam software.
When I am logged in my pc as user domain my capture folder is on server es. \\server\users\myuser\documenti\my video\webcam and the software display the error "insufficient space" when start to record.
If a am logged in my pc as local user my caputer folder is on C:\users\myuser\documenti\myvideo\webcam and the software run correctly.
Can i change the default capture folder for the domain user?
    Someone has another solution?

    • Updated HP Connection Manager to version 4.1.25.1.

You can try capturing the video, saving this locally to a file, and then copying the file over to the network location assuming that you have the permissions to do so.

Thanks for your reply, when I'm logged as Domain User I have all permission to the network location, the user folder is redirect to windows sbs 2003 server ad offline file is enabled. I think the software of Cyberlink is incompatible with this configuration.
So i think the only solution is to change the default capture folder to a local folder but I don't know the registry key to change.
I use the PC always connected to domain and switch to local account for use the webcam is comfortless

    • Added Cyberlink PowerDVD version 10.0.3.3222 (3.00 A5).

This is a custom version of Cyberlink PowerDVD that is for HP Pavilion and ENVY notebooks only. It is technically the spiritual successor to MediaSmart, but I don't think this is compatible with notebooks introduced before late 2010 (please let me know if this is inaccurate).

    EDIT:

    11/21/2011
    • Added HP SimplePass Identity Protection by Egistec, version 7.1.5.9.

    EDIT 2 - 12/03/2011:

Disregard the previous edit; the Egistec version has been removed from the first post due to compatibility issues for certain models.

    Some words about this uptade:

BioExcess (HP SimplePass Identity Protection by Egistec) only supports PCs equipped with EgisTec sensors.

    So, it'll not work with many HP sensors such as: VFS201, VFS300, VFS301, VFS421, VFS451, VFS471, VFS5111, VFS5011, VFS5131 (HP DV6/DV7 series).

Tested on my dv6 - Soft doesn't see sensor !

The Egistec / HP SimplePass software is mostly working on my dv6-2000 (which includes the older VFS301).

What is the specific model number of the dv6 that you are using?

    HP Pavilion dv6-6152er (LZ495EA)

Other fingerprint reader software (from Authentec and DigitalPersona) works perfect.
The Egistec software - No reaction.

    Any ideas?

"BioExcess (HP SimplePass Identity Protection by Egistec)

It wasn't detecting the sensor in my DV8 either. I'm back to using an old DP version. Kind of sucks that HP hasn't got something that works with current releases of FF for us. My machine isn't that old that it shouldn't still be fully supported, imo.

    • Updated HP Movie Store powered by RoxioNow to version 2.1.
    • Removed HP SimplePass Identity Protection by Egistec.

HP Movie Store is under the MediaSmart category.

As mentioned in the Important Information, only notebooks introduced since last year are supported. The dv7-2140eg is a much older notebook.

I'll re-post the DigitalPersona and/or Authentec versions of HP SimplePass to the driver threads. Sorry guys, didn't realize that the Egistec version only supported certain sensors. :(

I own a HP 2560P and to have the brightness keys working in W7, I had to install the "HP Hotkey Support" thing. BTW it also installs an OSD i don't want and even installing only the driver without the software (via device manager manually .inf), the keys don't work. Are there any alternatives instead of this softpaq?

    Thanks

You can try to install the HP Quick Launch Buttons driver using the Windows Update package below. There is no OSD software in this package to my knowledge. Please let us know if this solves your problem.

You were half right! The software has the OSD, btw it also has a settings menu where you can "hide" it :)
Better than having no choice :) At least for now no more annoying popups :p

Check the appropriate driver thread - I have reposted the DigitalPersona software releases (version 5.2.0.205 for 32-bit systems and version 5.1.0.175 for 64-bit systems).

SP53210 (version 5.2.0.205 for 64-bit systems) is no longer available at NBR or on HP's website because of this issue (which I have experienced) - HP Notebook PCs - Cannot Logon to Windows with SimplePass Fingerprint Reader - c03061709 - HP Business Support Center

Does anyone know where to get the latest CoolSense software?

I've got sp52814 which claims to be version 2.00, however even after installing it my system is still showing that CoolSense is at version 1.0.1.4.

I've also seen some references on Google searches to a version 2.1, but I can't find a download for that anywhere.

CoolSense also doesnt seem to be listed anywhere in the "official drivers" threads on here.

    Thanks, chootmarani.

I tried to install the CoolSense 2.1 sp54610 but I received the error:

"There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor."

I noticed on the release notes for sp54610 that the dv6 series was not listed under the supported models. Perhaps this is why it didn't work.

The older CoolSense 2.00 sp52814 package just shows "N/A" for the supported models, and while it does install without any errors on my dv6-6180us, it doesnt actually update the CoolSense app, which remains unchanged at 1.0.1.4.

Anyone have any ideas how to get the latest CoolSense on a dv6-6100 Series? I might end up opening another topic in a more appropriate area of the forums if no one in this thread has any ideas, but it seemed related to the "popular notebook software" discussion.
