Wow you're really losing it aren't you? Like seriously get a life.

Its really not that serious. And if it is to you return the damn thing and be done with it. You going ape sh&*T on everyone isn't going to change matters.

And you talk you're the final be all end all on the matter. Where exactly are you getting this information from that this Envy 17 will be the absolute "last version"? Are you claiming that there won't be an Envy 17/17 3D 4000 Series?

Because I find that very hard to believe.....

    Hey guys,

I'm going to be ordering a 17-3200 (non 3D) version of this notebook someitme tonight and this thread is downright scary ahha. Does this issue only pertain to the 3D version or are non-3D users experiencing problems as well?

    Thanks

eh they might be going mbp/dell xps route and cutting out the envy 17. but hopefully that means stronger cards in the 15 next revision :D

yeah this is only with the 3d version. urs should be fine

Thanks OP I am going to give this a try; the battery life is so bad on my week old 3D envy.

But again where are you guys getting this information from? Are you both just speculating (aka talking out of your you know what)?

Are there articles/websites that have reported on this as a rumor? It just seems completely random.

Other than Apple I haven't heard of any computer/PC manufacturer who's planning on ending the 17' laptop option.

    Thanks for clarifying your position.

Until I hear official word from HP or reporting for valid websites I'm not gonna trip. Worst case scenario is I buy the current Envy 173D.

I highly doubt it will give me the sort of anxiety and anger its giving other people in this thread. I just want a nice 17 inch laptop with a 1080p screen and nice speakers...that can handle moderate gaming very well.

And there's a 30% coupon out right now I believe. So definitely need to jump on it. Can't wait till I start my new job.

I have a non 3D Envy 17t 3200. Apparently the only way to switch GPU is to run the Catalyst Control Center then add each app one by one. Then you can tell the Catalyst Control to use "High Performance" but you have to do this for each app. These is no way to have the Radeon card used by default when on AC power.

WIsh I had known this before buying the Envy

You don't have to do that for most applications. With the exceptions being (so far): Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Photoshop CS6, Cinebench 11.5 64-bit
