I think you can use the Vista drivers for the TV Card, if not search for this one "AverMedia DVB-T Treiber A301 USB Device v1.3.0.66" and for the chipset search for "infinst_autol.exe"

@viking396: Did you find anything useful yet?

    @nyko

The 4 ACPI devices are the "instant play" buttons, and the LPC Interface controller is the IR sensor. But I dont know where to get drivers for those.

    thanks for the tvtuner.

yes that is related to IR sensor not chipset.

    Hi!
Im new on this forum and i have read 2 days ago that you, like me, needed the driver for the avermedia tv a301 chipset.
I had an idea with this "problematic" machine (hdx 9000 series from hp)...Why not other laptop manufacturers could integrate the same chipset from intel and similar processor from the same manufacturers?
and the solution came with a little bit of googling!
look up this link from asus! http://dlsvr02.asus.com/pub/ASUS/nb/F3SC/TV_Tuner_AverMedia_A301_vista_070522.zip
yeah!this vista-32_bit driver works like a charm on xp!
but still no idea with sigmatel stac 9271d...
    see you!

    better news yet!
    look at this link bellow:
    http://service.one.de/download/index.php?&direction=0&order=&directory=NOTEBOOKS/ONE_C70XX/WINDOWS_XP/SOUND
download this "driver.exe" file and then, when it decompress, you must select "manually" the ati drivers for the sound card. i also found the hp drivers for quicklaunch optimized for xp here:
    http://downloads.asifism.com/?key=4362912b9da20725a88e842ca6f1aff5
im so close to the full integration of xp with hdx 1930!
fingerprint drivers could be found easily here from hp:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=0&prodSeriesId=1839151&prodNameId=1839206&swItem=PSG_I23801-109063&swEnvOid=1098&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=3
    see you guys!

    Hi again!
I've been thinking about the sound through the altec lansing speakers...How are they integrated with the pavilion hdx? maybe a usb unit? let's think about this theory...if you get into the altec lansing web site ( http://www.alteclansing.com) you can see that there are a lot of models integrated as peripherals with usb...Maybe this is our mistake...all the outputs from the sigmatel chip work great.Shall we need a driver for the speakers?maybe 1 of the unknown devices in the device manager is for altec...
    think about it!
    regards!

Is any body know that before u install any sigmaltel driver u hv to install a drive call MS UAA, im not sure wt it is but i did it and install a audio driver from intel's web, now i can get sounds from headphone but not the speakers. Also I found that there are two sound card shown on my windows device list. Maybe because there are front panel and back panel for sound input. Still stuck on that audio driver....

Yeha you are right, you have to install the Microsoft update first. But you are wrong with your assumption that there are back and front panel inputs. The second sound device is HDMI Audio, and you can find drivers when you google for ATI HDMI AUDIO.

Sorry folks, been so busy with work didn't really get a Holiday. I have ordered a 2nd HDX and plan on using the first one to create an XP build. I have also called/emailed the guy I sold my hard drive too and asked if I could image that drive or at least look at it. I have not gotten a response from him yet. He has one of the earliest HDX's I have seen.

I'll try to post something soon, hopefully the chaos calms down so I can have some fun with the HDX. I also have a home network using WHS to do this weekend, not complaining since I'm working but it would be nice to have a break from this for a few days.

We're all waiting with baited breath. Interesting thread, especially at the beginning. :) I bought my HDX9120EA a couple of days ago and am thrilled with it on the whole. Yes, I'm a bit narked that I can't just stick XP as a second OS but I'm sure I'll get it sorted in the end if I can ever work out where the drivers are to streamline into my XP install disk. I'm not worried about having sound and the quicklanunch buttons et al under XP. As long as I can access my employers VPN, which will not work with Vista, and have graphic card support to give me the screen res I want I'll be as happy as a happy person that's just had a bopwl opf przac for breakfast. Till then it means switching laptoips but I'll live with it for now.

Anyone who has seen one of these beauties in the flesh wil know that what Viking said is absolutely right. They are breasthtaking. Portable in only the broadest would you like a hernia operation to go with that laptop sir sense but the jaw dropping on anyone you show it to is almost worth the purchase price alone.

Anyway, I'll keep at it and hopefully Viking will get some time soon to do an XP install guide for the wonderful beast of a machine.

And you should se Geiof Crammond's F1GP 4 (the only game I ever play) running on it. Whoo hoo.

As you can see, I'm not used to the keyboard yet though. The one on my Toshiba Satelite fits my fingers/;-)

Just a quick update on what I did to be able to have XP on my Dragon. I know this isn't a solution for everyone but if it's just a legacy application or two you need to run now and again it's a simple and painless solution.

I think it was Viking who, earlier in the thread, suggested using VMWare's Virtual Workstation. I downloaded the trial and had XP running and was able to access my empoyer's VPN in the time it takes to install XP. Downside is it was 200 dollars to buy after the 30 day trial.

A bit of googling found VirtualBox, free and work almost identically to VMware's software and literally solved my problem. Yes, it's not going to let you use your Dragon's power but if, like in my case, you just need to run a piece of software that can't be used in Vista, it's a btilliant solution.

Now, if only I could get the built in webcam to work in MSN. I have a couple of hours to kil and think I might go pick a fight with a HP Suport person. Hehe.

hi all, i have been following this thread for months now, hoping that someone could come up with a sound driver for this laptop, i have every other driver for this except sound.... i have been editting the .inf and .ini file to match the VISTA files, but cant get the stacsv.exe to start, and as yet have no luck in getting anyother .exe to play through speakers. The registry shows all the correct mappings in XP for all ports and speakers and headphone, just cant get the driver to work :(

Has anyone else had any joy.......

    Hey there!

I've managed to install XP with 99% of the drivers installed, only one quirk and that's no internal sound, but external jacks at the back and front work (including 5.1 / 7.1 surround) and as i already had 5.1 speakers connected not a problem for me, also strangely enough my sound is better than before, it seems tighter and clearer!

I also managed to get fingerprint and free media centre software :) If anyone is still struggling I can package all the drivers, software and instructions up in a zip file for download, e-mail me [email protected] and I'll provide the download link :)

    All the best!! :)

p.s. HP reckon that they're 'working on' providing drivers for XP for the machine, yeah right... they'll get around to it.... as soon as they get out of bed with microsoft :p

I am following this with baited breath... waiting in anticipation.

My version of Autocad will not run on Vista 64-bit and I just can't afford the hit of another software upgrade right now after the new laptop (even though I saved nearly $1,200 from the original price I quoted in December). I even had purchased a 64-bit copy of XP Pro to try out / downgrade with, if I decied to test the 64-bit "work around" for Acad. I am also happy that I was able to get the nVidia 512mb video card upgrade, as Inventor is optimized for nVidia cards. Silly me - I didn't realize that XP drivers would be that big of an issue. I did some research, but apparently not enough. Still using my old workhorse for daily work, until I get this resolved.

I struggled trying to get the SATA drivers to load; gave up in frustration and restore Vista until I could research things more. Thanks to everyone who posted what they have found and done to get things to work!
I am happy that I am not the only one who experienced the same issue. This forum has been a great wealth of knowledge, thanks for sharing it with the rest of us.
    _________________________________________________________________

Did any one else buy the HP 20" "Luggage" ? I am still trying to find a smaller case / backpack for it. I did see some stuff at PCconnection.com, but looking for something a bit fancier. I may even try and have a buddy "tool up" a custom leather back pack of my own design, if I can't find anything stock that will fit (and look nice). :)

    Hi Guys,

I've been watching all the threads concerning installing XP on HDX and am really happy all drivers are now available.

I was thinking though, that maybe there is someone with the whole XP drivers set who could create the whole package and upload it somewhere so that everyone does not have to read through all the threads to get every single driver separately?

It would be really nice to have it uploaded so that anyone who needs them can get them without plowing through the whole internet :)

By the way, does anyone have drivers for GeForce 8800GTS installed on the 9250?
