Thats a pity as I had to go to the States for a business trip and my hdx had to stay home. It will take me 5 weeks before I get back.

    how i installed

    installed MCE
    installed UAA - rebooted
    installed WinXP Audio - Rebooted
install ATI 2600HD - Forced Install
installed HDMI ATI audio - rebooted and changed back the sound device to IDT Audio
installed Ricoh SD Card driver (SP33604)
    installed BlueTooth (SP34842A)
had to disable the sttray in the registery as it was blue screening the laptop
installed lan (i use wireless, and it was slipstreamed into the MCE)
updates started to install at this stage...
installed AuthenTec AES1610 Finger Printer Driver (SP35337)
installed Silicon Image 3531 SATA Controller - rebooted due to updates installedll
installed Verisoft Access Manager (SP35640) - rebooted
installed HP Quick Launch Buttons (SP32280) - rebooted
installed HP Quick Launch Buttons (SP38266) - 6.30 Rev. J
installed ITE Tech.Inc. - took three attempts but finally installed

although i still have 4 yellow marks i have found out that these are some of the buttons i.e the 'eject button' these i am not worried about... and also the AVERYTV A301... when i installed this (vista driver) the 'ehome' started to create errors so i uninstalled it...

all these file can be found on my site... hope this helps

The CIR driver you uploaded to your site is working for me. The only problem is that i cant use the remote in WinXP.
When i press the buttons nothing happens. Does it have to be Windows MCE to work?

nope mate.... it must be the vista driver.... as i plug in the usb infra-red reciever from the wife's DV9030ea and a few more devices poped up, namely the 'ehome reciever' and the remote worked fine.... so i forced the 'ITECIR infrared reciever (CHIP) driver to update to 'Microsoft eHome Infrared Tranciever' and all the rest fell into place as with the USB from the DV9030 ---BUT no nothing zilch so i can only assume it the vista driver, as yet have not found the XP version..... still looking though...

Thats really confusing...why does the same driver only install one device driver under XP...

Someone needs to upload the whole Drivers Folder of a newer modell. Maybe one of the newer drivers will work for us. Like the one for the Soundcard.

Please someone, upload the whole Driver Folder for us.

    Thanks for your help caoimhe.
I thought that the drivers UMAR have are newer then the ones you have. Because UMAR uploaded the WinXP drivers you didnt have on your HDX. So maybe he has also some other (newer) drivers we dont know about.

Thnaks to all in the two main HDX threads here for the help offered for getting XP running. Any chance of "XP on an HDX" being made a sticly with all the driver links at the top of the thread?

Quick Spec Check (Live in the UK so cannot customise)
    HDX 9250EA (9200)
    T9300
    8800GTS
    4GB
    2x250gb
    HD-DVD
    Screen 1680x1050

Am very happy with my purchase (1080p not that important and I wouldn't have been able to run a higher res native cos I would not be able to read it. HD is fine too, looking forward to all the cheap HD media to rip and x264 :)

Purchased brand new for £1299 inc delivery, which I was very pleased with!
After over a month with it I am very happy. If it could run XP properly, I would be even more happy :)

Anywho, I got XP working on my HDX eventually......

However, the brightness (fn f7 f8) did work but not interactively. Pressing fn+f7 (or f8) did not appear do anything at the time (no increase or decrease in brightness) but after a reboot, the brightness level was altered.

Unfortunately this became so annoying I ultimately reverted back to Vista :(

I could not find an easy way to do it through the driver either, maybe that part of the driver was broken?

Can anyone else confirm/deny this. The Nvidia driver was from the other "laptop" site ( www.laptopvideo2go.com) with the modded inf.

I will maybe try again soon but this time with a new hard drive (leave the original intact)

    Cheers,
    1st-Laffer

    Hi Arya,
All WinXP Drivers for the HDX are avialable except the CIR driver and some Quick Launch Buttons. I dont have the 8800GTS so you have to look for these drivers yourself. The other drivers can be found at the following page: http://www.hpdrivers.mercs.us/
    Thank caoimhe for that :)
The Screen Resolution is good enough for me. I am using some CAD software and 1680x1080 are more then enough.
My HDX is on 24/7 and i dont have any problems.
    bye

Has anybody found that the audio under XP using the supplied driver does not utilise the sub woofer under the machine, ie the sound is very tinny?

    Hi,

now i been working on geting all the drivers for xp, and this thread has been a huge help. now befor i get my head bitten off.

I HAVE THE SOUND WORKING ON THE SPEAKERS.

now i work at a computer store. and left the computer on over night with my reserch open. my boss came in the morrning apparently i had a driver page open that he downloaded the sound card driver for and instaled it. needless to say after reading this page for 2 days. and hearing how no one has got any sound this is a suprise to me. i will see what i can do about uploading them.... but first i need to find what ones he instaled >.<

i take it then u have all the speakers working, as the drivers i use, only work the front two...

also the mass storage device can be removed using the 'Ricoh SD Card driver (SP33604)'
and tthe vga driver 'ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 XT'

    both found here http://hpdrivers.mercs.us/

well guys i had to give up the ghost on this xp business.....and went back to vista    as the graphics driver keeps freezing up on me.... either 'infinite loop' of screen freezes.... have tried the :-
    1. the vista driver, not working,
    2. the ATI driver from web site.... doesnt reconise the card... so modded the driver... screen freezeing....
    3. J_Love's ati modded driver... 'infinite loops'......

as much a i have loved having xp on this machine.... sooooo much better.... i have to reboot every 5 mins... cant keep doing this....

my site will still keep all the drivers there for you guys.... i am getting 1000's of hits a week, which is nice to see... and will put other files up if you need them or update.... just mail me and i will see wat i can do for you....

I'm running XP Pro SP2 in a VMware virtual environment on my HDX. I have two programs that refuse to work in Vista that I need. Boot time on the VM is about 30 secs. The only issue about using VMware is that the VM mouse driver is so basic that you can only use the scroll wheel and left/right buttons.

I have both Windows XP sp3 and Windows Server 2003 running on my HDX and have everything working other than the subwoofer, tuner, quicktouch, and screen brightness controls.
My biggest issue is with the screen brightness controls. I'm using a modded inf nvidia driver and my screen brightness messes up and turns off the LCD backlight when I disconnect and reconect AC power to it on both O/S. Anyone have these issues or any fixes for it? Thanks.

No luck yet, I'm thinking of reinstalling Server2003 or XP and just not installing the quicklaunch drivers that seemed to screw up the brightness control. It will stay on full brightness, but I won't have to worry about the screen ever going black. It would be nice if HP had just a couple basic drivers for these couple issues. I can live without the TV tuner and fingerprint scanner and my modifyed version of XP even with unofficial drivers, is much faster than Vista for most of the software I use.

Finally a solution for the blackout screen issue in XP and Server2003. Use the new Nvidia notebook driver from the website.
