Everytime Bing responds to an email, it's a different person who hasn't read any of my previous responses...The most recent response told me that I was credited the 5% cashback and to wait the full 60 days for the refund. Didn't even bother to read the initial service request that noted the reason for my request including a screenshot of the 30% cashback. Hopefully I get somewhere with the next email :[

It has to do with the day you placed the order Shaolinx. I ordered on July 1st, and mines scheduled to arrive on friday. I'm guessing everyone who has a receive date of the 20th ordered some time after the 1st.

 

that is hilarious, I literally just came back on to the forum tonight to post that I went ahead and ordered the red 15 bookbook, the dimensions seem to be perfect for the envy and after taking a long look at my link case, I think the envy deserves something sexier. The DIY looks like a fun project but I wanted this in time to test my first envy out and compare them both before I get my ssd beast thanks to bing. And also, after haggling HP for $200 in discounts for my first order + student discount, I decided no more calling with an issue on this bing order *not because I think it will conflict with the bcb, but moreso because I am satisfied as a customer receiving $522 cashback.

A few years back I made a little book safe out of an old book. Just hallowed out the inside, used some glue to keep it together, and its perfect.

 

Please let us (or at least me) know how it fits! I'm really hesitant on that thing not fitting right...after all it is an 80$ sleeve and all.

Mine is still in AK with no delays and is scheduled to get here tomorrow..

 

These things move fast once they get to the US. All of the notebooks I ordered from HP got from Anchorage to Jacksonville in less then 36 hours.

 

nice! I'm hoping for the same. It's the laptop I'm sending back, though..I just called up HP to ask if there would be any advantage on their part for me to not open it; i.e. they could sell it as new. Turns out, she told me to open it if I wanted to, that all returns were treated the same. Now I won't feel guilty about playing with it until my real one comes.

 

Can I humbly ask to have my name added to the quasi-official BCB notification PM list? At this point, with all the chaos I'm having with Bing's "customer service" over the missing credit on my first order, it's probably just easy for me to order a second laptop and return the first.

Not to mention, I made an error on my first order (went with a 5400 RPM hard drive instead of a 7200). :/

I have a question about Bing cash back and Fatwallet cash back. I ordered Envy 14 two days ago when 30% Bing cash back was available. I got e-mail from Bing right away notified me that cash back is pending. However, today I also got an e-mail from Fatwallet notified me that I have cash back pending from my HP purchase. I probably also clicked cash back button on Fatwallet when I was checking various sites during my purchase process.

So here is my question:

What would happen in this situation? Would I get just Bing cash back or just Fatwallet cash back or both?

Obviously I don't want to end up with just Fatwallet cash back which is much smaller. Should I do anything right now to ensure that I will get Bing cash back or just sit and wait to see what happened? If I don't get Bing cash back do I have any means to argue my case with Bing and how?

This is my first purchase with Bing cash back and I am not sure how reliable it is. Your guys are much more experienced on this and your help is greatly appreciated.

I should have re-ordered the second day they offered 30%. Bing is being fairly unresponsive.

 

lol...well, i just called fedex about the clearance delay, and they blamed it on hp for not providing enough paperwork. then i called hp, and they said it was fedex's fault becuase hp sends all of the products and paper work that is adequate to get through customs, and fedex lags to get through the paperwork.

so they are playing the blame game on each other xD

 

Mine went from Shanghai to Memphis from the 9th to the 12th. On the 13th it had a clearance delay.

As of today, it made it to KC and is on a truck coming to my house as I type this!

 

On it's way to my apt. May go home during lunch to pick it up!

 

I have a $100 from HP so far but how do I get them to increase it to $200 like some other people are getting?

I opted for the 640gb hard drive because I was unaware that it was 5400rpm vs. 500gb's 7200 rpm -- I wish HP mentioned that on their page. I also opted for the i5-450m instead of the i5-520m -- were these both bad choices?

 

HP did mention it on the HDD customization page. I was going to go with the 640 until I saw it was 5400

As for the i5-450 vs 520, I went with the 450 as well cause apparently there is not big enough of a difference to warranty a $100 price increae.

 

Will my performance drop significantly from the 7200rpm to the 5400 rpm?

The 450m has a faster bus, but the 520m has the virtualization hardware built-in (VT-d, I believe)

 

I don't know if anyone's noticed but the 640gb HDD option has disappeared from the ENVY 14 custom configuration page...

Why do you think that is? --poor performance? I would be displeased to have a new/fast system and a hard drive that cannot keep up.

If there was another 30% BCB, I would cancel this order and remake a new system with the 500gb.

Not at all. It's all about platter density. The 640Gb 5400 will be about as fast as the 500GB 7200 because the platter density is greater on the 640GB. The difference will be about 5-10%. Something you wouldn't notice.

 

That's what mine says to but I was reading on other forums that when crossing borders sometimes they just don't scan it untill it arrives in the mainland. Worst comes to worts all of a sudden I will come home and see a brown box with no tracking updates.

 

Maybe, but i think it's the issue of too many parts and choices that just further delays the whole process.

Maybe they're streamlining. Either way, the HDD is easy to replace down the road so you shouldn't worry too much.

 

I think I read somewhere that the 640 GB 5400 RPM drive, in practice, is faster than the 500 GB 7200 RPM drive.

Something about the capacity being larger and platters being larger, thus affecting read and write times (This might all be BS... I don't really understand how HDD's work). You may want to read up to make sure.

Hey guys- Been following this for a while. Anyways, Fedex.com says my shipment is still in Alaska but I called the fedex number : 1.800.463.3339

and it actually told me that the shipment was out for delivery today by 10:30am. So if any of you experienced that "clearance delay" it may have actually already cleared and the website is just behind so try calling the automated machine. I ordered on the 4th and got 2 day shipping. Although it's 10:26 am right now on the East Coast so I'm starting to think it will be a later shipment today...

 

Mine is exactly the same. Although, I was concerned, so I called Fedex earlier this morning. They told me that it would definitely be delivered on time. She said that it would be placed on a plane from Anchorage tonight, and would be delivered to my office in Dallas, TX tomorrow, no later than 4:30 pm.

All I got when I called was that it was in route to my local distribution center and scheduled for delivery on the 20th. Which means it's giving just the basic information that the website has.

 

I just called FedEx. My Envy 14 shipped on Monday with two-day shipping, and here it is Thursday (scheduled for delivery at 4:30 PM) and it's still in Alaska with a clearance delay.

FedEx said it's stuck in customs, and they can't do anything with it until they receive an invoice from HP. They said they've already contacted HP about the issue, and yet it's been stuck in customs for three days. So basically, HP screwed up. After experiencing one delay with this order already and experiencing three delays with my previous Envy 15 order, I'm absolutely furious.

I've been extremely patient and courteous all along, but I'm done. Time to rip them a new one.

It's all in platter density. More bits on the same size platter will increase its areal density, so while the platter is spinning at 5400RPM, it's getting more bits per revolution than a lesser areal density platter. If the 640GB HDD is a single double sided platter, that's 320MB per side, it'll actually read/write quite a bit more quickly than if the 500MB 7200RPM is a dual platter drive with 125GB per side. I think you can see where we're going now?

Chances are they're both dual platters so 125 GB per side on the 500GB and 160 GB per side on the 640GB. That's ~22% more data and 7200 RPM is ~ 25% faster than 5400 RPM, so speeds will be close.

 

Mine is out for delivery too. Was stuck on clearance delay for about two days.

 

I'm overseas on vacation. I submitted an order during the BCB 30% period, but it was declined. And then another that was also declined. At the order declined page I followed a link to talk to a live chat representative who told me that HP declined any order located outside the US, even though the billing address was US. Eventually I had my friend place the order, and the order/BCB went through okay.

So today I tried to make my housing deposit for college, to find that I had $2500 extra charged on my credit card; the two declined orders. I can't get back to the same live chat link. When trying to go through customer service on the web site, it takes me to a page with different Envy 14 models. But I customized mine.

Which am I supposed to pick? Would the live chat representative even be able to fix this? Or should I just wait it out and hope HP cancels the billing?

 

Mine is "in production". How long does it stay there for?
