I'm still having so much trouble getting to the student discount.
I've tried both IE and Firefox.
I've had trouble logging in but I'm sure I did
When I go to customize my laptop, I do not see a green apple saying APP next to the price bar.
Can someone please run through what exactly I'm supposed to do?
-
If you've been able to log in, you've gotten further than I have. In IE, I get the page cannot be displayed error. In Firefox, I get an infinite loop of logins. They have a terribly buggy site.
-
You should just call HP about the student discount because their site is so buggy. The way I did it was I called HP Shopping when I was ready to order and told the lady that I am a student, and she registered me for APP.

My Girlfriend order hers about 6 days after me and got the same laptop for about $135 less -
Found a new way to get to the app website: Follow these instructions:
1. Click on link: https://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/register_app.do.
2. Type in personal information and also college ID.
3. Then it will ask for you to go to the APP website or the Home site. -
-
If your school is unlisted, and there is no "other" option, a person can do it over the phone, i've found calling quick and helpful - positive experience. I'll be finilizing my order soon, and i intent to place it over the phone so i can haggle, got my fingers crossed..

Does COMPAQ have any coupons like Dell (e.g. $29ZG6VL2CF147)? That would be awesome if they had a 40% coupon like dell. well thanks.
-
The thing is, HP/Compaq already offer good discounts with their laptops. Such as with the v2000z, its starts at 700-650USD and then its -150.00 plus another 50.00 off and if your a student, another 80-90.00 off, so thats nearly 300.00 off the price of the laptop.
-
oh yeah... i never thought of it like that before. lol.
-
Hmm. In the first link at the start of this post my school was listed, but at the link on this page...it isnt...
EDIT: Didn't recognize the city, but noticed the zip code.
Wowo. The APP makes a nice difference

Special Printer Offer HP All-in-One
For $735.56
The only reason im going for the free printer is because with that mailin rebate it actually came out to -8.01 dollars. So My total discounts on this lappy were the 100.00 mail in, 150.00 instant, the APP discount, and the 8.01 from the printer rebate. -
Just FYI, the printer that comes for free is pretty bad, alot of people on this site have said that its ink usage is bad compared to the model ahead of it.
-
Yea I know, but I'll save 8 more dollars lol. Im all about saving money because college eats 99% of it.

wearetheborg Notebook Virtuoso

Do they give discounts on nx9430 notebooks ? I could only see the green apple on home computers. -
-
Does anyone have a spare 10% off coupon from surveys? I'd be willing to pay for it.

Can you get the HP8430 via student discount?
-
The APP price is only valid for systems sold through the Home and Home office store. The business notebooks/desktops do not qualify for student rebates.
-
I should get a student discount.
I'm taking International Baccalureate classes at the high school level (which are basically freshmen college courses) and should be able to get one. -
Do you have a school ID and a college email? Then only can you go for the discount.
-
I just signed up for the APP program. It asked for my Student ID, but not a college email. Also, the discount was only around $40, but that's better than nothing.
Anyone know if coupons can be used in conjunction with the discount? -
i am not exactly sure if coupons can be used on the laptop it self in conjunction with the discount. but i just purchased the dv2000t and got the printer for $20(after $80 mail-in rebate). when i entered my coupon code it went towrds the printer.
-
I'm still in High School, but I noticed something new about the reg. page. I states a thing about "College-bound high school students may reg. under the college they intend to apply to."
And also the Student ID can be your birth date if you don't have one.
I reg. just for the hell of it, I mean, I already know which college I'm planning to attend to.
And if they don't let me have the discount right now, whatever. Still worth a try. -
According to xbargains.com, there’s a 15% off all $1299+ Pavilion notebooks at the HP Online Store.
Coupon code NB9500.
Linky:

First code listed there. -
-
Not working for me either.
Can I use coupons in addition to the student discount? -
Okay, after a bit of a wait on hold I got to talk with an HP rep. Apparently you cannot use the coupon with any other discount, which includes the APP, EPP, and any rebates at all. Also the coupon is only valid to the first 5.5million people to use it. Somehow, I doubt HP is doing THAT well.
I've tried it and it works, though I think my APP discount is of better use. -
I just did APP, EPP and the code and the difference is a whopping $1 for me

It would never happen in Canada, not fair

Hey, my dad is an administrator at a vo-tech school. i found the school listed, but he's sleeping....so...
i'm wondering....which discount is of greater value...the Student discount for a college, or an administrator at a career-tech school.
ps: i am not expecting anybody to know this for a fact....just a couple opinions and inputs would be nice -

Once the XPBargains.com deals expire, are there usually new ones? I don't want to miss out on this, but I can't dedicate the money to this purchase quite yet.
