I'm still having so much trouble getting to the student discount.

I've tried both IE and Firefox.

I've had trouble logging in but I'm sure I did

When I go to customize my laptop, I do not see a green apple saying APP next to the price bar.

Can someone please run through what exactly I'm supposed to do?

If you've been able to log in, you've gotten further than I have. In IE, I get the page cannot be displayed error. In Firefox, I get an infinite loop of logins. They have a terribly buggy site.

You should just call HP about the student discount because their site is so buggy. The way I did it was I called HP Shopping when I was ready to order and told the lady that I am a student, and she registered me for APP.

If your school is unlisted, and there is no "other" option, a person can do it over the phone, i've found calling quick and helpful - positive experience. I'll be finilizing my order soon, and i intent to place it over the phone so i can haggle, got my fingers crossed..

Does COMPAQ have any coupons like Dell (e.g. $29ZG6VL2CF147)? That would be awesome if they had a 40% coupon like dell. well thanks. :)

The thing is, HP/Compaq already offer good discounts with their laptops. Such as with the v2000z, its starts at 700-650USD and then its -150.00 plus another 50.00 off and if your a student, another 80-90.00 off, so thats nearly 300.00 off the price of the laptop.

    For $735.56

The only reason im going for the free printer is because with that mailin rebate it actually came out to -8.01 dollars. So My total discounts on this lappy were the 100.00 mail in, 150.00 instant, the APP discount, and the 8.01 from the printer rebate.

Just FYI, the printer that comes for free is pretty bad, alot of people on this site have said that its ink usage is bad compared to the model ahead of it.

The APP price is only valid for systems sold through the Home and Home office store. The business notebooks/desktops do not qualify for student rebates.

I should get a student discount.

I'm taking International Baccalureate classes at the high school level (which are basically freshmen college courses) and should be able to get one.

I just signed up for the APP program. It asked for my Student ID, but not a college email. Also, the discount was only around $40, but that's better than nothing.

Anyone know if coupons can be used in conjunction with the discount?

    Same here.

I'm still in High School, but I noticed something new about the reg. page. I states a thing about "College-bound high school students may reg. under the college they intend to apply to."

And also the Student ID can be your birth date if you don't have one.

I reg. just for the hell of it, I mean, I already know which college I'm planning to attend to.

And if they don't let me have the discount right now, whatever. Still worth a try.

Okay, after a bit of a wait on hold I got to talk with an HP rep. Apparently you cannot use the coupon with any other discount, which includes the APP, EPP, and any rebates at all. Also the coupon is only valid to the first 5.5million people to use it. Somehow, I doubt HP is doing THAT well.

I've tried it and it works, though I think my APP discount is of better use.

Hey, my dad is an administrator at a vo-tech school. i found the school listed, but he's sleeping....so...

i'm wondering....which discount is of greater value...the Student discount for a college, or an administrator at a career-tech school.

ps: i am not expecting anybody to know this for a fact....just a couple opinions and inputs would be nice
