Good thing I didn't buy it. I know it has been confirmed that the 1102 worked with Camolil's BIOS. I will go with this one then.

Longtime lurker here. First off- awesome, helpful thread/site!!

So I have a probook 6465b- this gem of a machine runs way cool, and therefore can overclock pretty well. I lifted the stock a6-3410mx and put in a A8-3510MX, and have it stable at B0 3.0 ghz and P1 2.5ghz with the following voltages:

    B0- 1.2875
    P1- 1.1375

Great comp, picked it up refurbished on newegg for 450!!

Hey Guys, I have a Dv6-6135 and I am looking to replace the A8-3500m with an A8-3550mx. However these seem pretty hard to come by. There is a place on Ebay called OS-Store that appears to be selling them refurbished, and I was wondering if anybody has had any experience with them? Also, any recommendations on where to pick one up would be great as well.

Thank you HTWingNut and everyone else who contributed to make this happen ! My DV6 is now running like a champ as the result of this guide and at the low resolution of 768x1366 I am able to play everything I have maybe not on hight but nonetheless a notbook playing Crsysis 2, Metro and BF3 is verrrrraaaay nice !!!!!

    Thanks again

One question though I am not sure if this is the right place but I am having trouble betting my WiFi card working my notebook was originally a DV6-6c48us I bought new here is a link to the same model refurb on NewEgg

    Newegg.com - Refurbished: HP Pavilion dv6-6c48us Notebook AMD A-Series A8-3520M(1.6GHz) 15.6" 6GB Memory 500GB HDD 5400rpm DVD Super Multi AMD Radeon HD 6620G

However in my quest for more power I tracked down a motherboard ( HP Part # 650854-001 ) with the HD 6750, bought the proper heatsink to go with it and a 120W power supply.

    HP dv6 6000 AMD Laptop Motherboard SFS1 AB750 40 GAB7500 E1B0 650854 001 | eBay

So my question is with this board what WiFi cards will work as I am at a loss and would like to avoid the old trial and error method if possible ?

I would have thought that the card from my DV6-6c48us would work as its listed in the service manual but for some reason it will not (Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and 2070 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo
adapter (BT3.0+HS ready) 600370-001 ) If anyone can reccomend a WiFi adapter that is know to work with this motherboard I would greatly appreciate it thanks.

Just wanted to thank you for all the great guides Including how to enable the 6750 gpu and the dvd tray to secondary hard disk.

I do have a question has any one upgraded their ram above 16GB's?
    I'm running at 16 GB's 2x8 pc3 12800 ddr3 and would like to know if the dv6-6135dx will take 2x16GB ddr3 sticks.

Edit: came across this e-bay sale for a8-3530mx cpu

I am pretty sure the max is 16gb as crucial says the max for the dv6-6135dx is 16gb - I suppose there could have been an update that expanded the memory size but it seems unlikely. I am running 2 x 8gb of G. Skill ddr3-1600 on my dv6-6135dx, never considered 32gb. Not sure I even needed 16gb, though it does seem my browser tabs are less likely to blow up after the upgrade from 6gb to 16gb.

Everything is still at stock speeds, it is just the memory has been upgraded and the hdd replaced by a ssd.

    Thanks for the reply.

As of my first post I have researched and found that the amount of ddr3 ram that one uses is limited by their os.
I believe that Crucial's program may be out of date, when I upgraded from 6 to 16 GB's Crucial gave me a limit of 8GB's

See I'm thinking 20 GB ram disk :D

Yeah, I forgot about the OS limitation; crucial just might be copying that. The ram disk sounds fun. I'm doing fine with 16gb + SSD, but if you get the ram disk to work, give us an update.

I seem to have misplaced the site that was selling 16GB sticks :(

Look up Dataram RamDisk online, That's what I'm using now along with fancy cache to limit the number of file IO's on the ssd.

ok guys, in the other llano thread, i killed my dv6 6135 motherboard, i ripped the cmos battery holder out. I ordered a replacement motherboard on ebay, which works, but sadly it does not like any of the third party bios, unlike my original motherboard. Windows 8 refuses to boot with the modded bios, but boots fine with stock f.21 bios from hp's site. Is there a different revision of the motherboard or something?

    That's a bummer.
Did the plastic break easy, I often have to reset cmos and would like to prevent this from happening to me.

    it ripped easy yes.

Anyways, I realize with new AMD drivers and oc bios, the laptop does not boot up, freezes before the login screen.. I go back to stock bios and original hp video drivers and it boots up fine , maybe I got to go back to 12.6 or 12.8 amd drivers or something, because there is something in the latest drivers that doesn't like the oc bios(es) for some reason. Anyone???
