wow, that's very cheap 620 dollars for an 15.6 inch envy.

The coupons are dead
Wow those dried up fast.

The screen resolution is fixed at 1,366 x 768-pixel, which despite being adequate for a 13.3-inch laptop, loses out to competitors such as the MacBook Air and the Asus Zenbook. We feel that the lack of an upgrade option undermines the whole premium slant of the Envy series. -
Yeah, 1366x768 on a 15-inch is just terrible these days, ESPECIALLY on something that is marketed as a "luxury" line the way Envy is. However, when the dv6-6xxx first came out it was only available with 1366x768 and the anti-glare 1920x1080 screen was added as an option later.
But going through the customization of the Envy 6t right now shows that 1366x768 is all they're offering at the moment. -
the resolution of the screen killed it for me.. now wiating for he 15
-
Dam, why couldn't they have an option to buy a higher-res screen. I would paid for it. Hopefully the spectre does and option for a HDD.
-
Anyone else think that outside of screen resolution, this Envy 6 does a pretty good job of being an updated version of the original Envy 15?
-
I like others here would also like to see a screen upgrade option, if it's $150 to upgrade to a matte 1600 x 900 display you'd attract a lot of the more demanding buyers. -

not an upgrade at all.
The problem was the envy 14 wasnt an upgrade, in all sense, except maybe battery life and the ODD, both debatable
The envy 15 gen 3 was an upgrade regarding cpu, and screen (debatable), not to mention ODD (debatable)
the envy 15 gen 4 is going to be an upgrade to the gen 1 and 2 envys, -
-
The spectre would of been good if it had a better screen res, maybe it will give an option when its released.
Edit:
Went through all the specs of the notebook HP announced today, they all have low-res screen. -

And yes I do find the envy 4t quite interesting, basically it has some gpu power and the enough cpu power with the ulv offerings, for me at least -
Fat Dragon Just this guy, you know?
The newly-designed HP site calls the 4t the "HP Pavilion Envy 4" - that's a bit of a laugh. It's like they realized too late that the Envy name is too good for it so they're trying to call it a Pavilion as well...
The CTO page tells a lot about how non-premium the Envy 4 and 6 series are - they tell you they're doing you a favor with a free upgrade from 2 GB DDR3 to 4 GB, which has been standard on pretty much all laptops for 3 years now; then they do the same with a 5400 RPM 320 GB HDD to a 5400 RPM 500 GB HDD, while not offering anything bigger or faster, then there's the lack of a better screen, and the fact that these are the first "Envy" laptops that I can remember that don't ship with free Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Elements. It all points to a product that's non-premium in every way, which is fine by me, but don't call it an Envy. -

Sorry to spam this in three threads but its a good read and relevant to each one.
Screen Res options have really killed it. I mean, the HD4k can push a higher display better. We need Radiance Plus and not Bright view revivals. -
Do you think the Envy 4 and 6's don't have the HI-RES screen because HP is working on the original Envy RED/ORANGE issue????
-

Also a higher res screen means more work for the video card, which means less battery life.

The design of these new Pavilion-branded "ENVY" books actually looks like a slimmed down DV6-6000 series. Same speaker grill type, same keyboard design and the brushed metal pamrest.

did anyone get lucky enough and use the $400 coupon on this to get it for 500 before taxes?
-
-
I ordered one, but I wasn't able to use the $400 off coupon. I got a pretty good deal from HP Acadmy though... It's supposed to be built by June 1st, anyone know the chances of it being built earlier?
-
Mine says it will ship May 30th
-
Which model? I got the Envy 6...
-
Any chance that HP's 3G wwan module would be compatible with these? That's pretty much the only thing standing between me & the Envy 6 right now...
-
-
When did you place the order?
-
I placed my order on 5/9, right when they were announced and the coupon was active.
-
Oh, I placed mine that saturday, which is probably why there's a discrepancy in build time.
